=recession

Copper Contributor

Hi im trying to use =recession function to find the years hat have a recession, but when I enter the formula it comes up with the #name?. I was wondering if anyone knew how to fix this problem.

The formula I tried to use is:

=recession(C8, "year")

C8 is the date 01/01/1996

I know this works because at uni I have used this formula and it works, but on my laptop at home it doesn't.

If it is correct once you press enter it would give either a 0 or 1.

Im also using FRED.

@bhavnesh8828 , RECESSION() is not out of the box in Excel, that's from third-party. In particular, this source says that is in Econ Chart add-in. Have no idea what's that and how to install it.
