excel work book the calculation is set to manual, why?

Hi, can anyone explain how i can change the default settings for a new workbook book, so the Workbook calculation setting is the to Automatic, and when i save a workbook the setting stays the same.

i am sure this used to happen.

They shall be the same till working with the same or any other workbook you change them on Manual.
