combining text in cells

I have two cells one for first name and one for last name, I want the third cell to show the first initial of their first name followed by their last name. 

E.g. Nancy Kelleher becomes NKelleher

If A1:B1 contains the first and last names, respectively, the formula in C1 is:
=LEFT(A1)&B1
