I've just been given a new corporate laptop running Excel. Every time I edit and save a cell, that entire row displays horizontal gridlines. These seem to disappear later when I move off the page. How do I turn off this feature?

Stuart, that's a bug in some Excel builds https://support.office.com/en-gb/article/Fixes-or-workarounds-for-recent-issues-in-Excel-for-Windows.... Try to update the office.
