Tried every which way to get rid of Value! - anyone willing to help me?

Hi Guys and Gals,

Getting frustrated so hoping someone more figures/excel orientated that I might be able to help. Keep on getting the Value! sign when I'm adding up a whole load of figures adding together (they're receipts).

Please see my sum below which = Value!

What am I doing wrong? Have I put something extra in or added something?

I've gone up and down the list x6 times to check they are all in the correct places and no hidden extras.

As you can see I'm adding 2 columns (card + cash columns)

I had thought blocking sections together e.g. E4:E20 would help to reduce the length of the sum. However is the problem because I'm mixing this with adding up? Or is that ok?

=SUM(E263+F266+F264+E258+E256+E23+F241+F240+E234+F221+F220+F213+F152+E217+E210+F209+F208+E201+E200+E194+E193+F12+F164:F174+E163+F162+F157+F156+F154+E129+F145+F124:F128+F130:F145+F114:F122+E113+F109:F110+F90:F94+F96:F104+E87+F81:F83+F61:F75+F56+F45+F44+F23+F162:F174+E150+E147+F110+F96:F104+F90:F94+E76+F61:F75+F58:F59+F53:F56+E51+F44:F50,F41:F42+E40+F35:F39+F25:F30+F22:F23+F19:F20+F16:F17+E15)

If anyone can give me a heads up it would be really appreciated!

Cheers,

Mirna

Try replacing all plus (+) signs with comma (,).

You should consider changing your model so you can use continuous ranges instead of individual cell references.

Easier to maintain, easier to audit.
