Recovering an Excel File

Copper Contributor
While working on a spreadsheet, my data disappeared and now I cannot find it. The file is still there, but the data is not. I tried several recovery programs, but am not willing to pay for it. Is there a way to relocate the data from the file? Very important! Thanks!

Hello, you can check your autosave first, or use the CTRL+ Z to have a try. Here are the steps you can have a try.

  1. Go to the File tab and click on ‘Open’
  2. Now click on the Recent Workbooks option on the top left
  3. Now scroll to the bottom and click on ‘Recover Unsaved Workbooks’ button
  4. Scroll through the list and search for the file you lost.
  5. Double-click on it to open it
  6. The document will open in Excel, now all you have to do is hit the Save As button

And if it doesn't work, I thin you can try again a program called the Bitwar Data Recovery; it offers 30-day free trial, you don't need to pay. Hope can help you.
