Pulling last name data into a new sheet in order to count the occurrences

Hello all,

I am attempting to make a new worksheet that pulls last names from another worksheet and keeps a running count of how many times that last name appears in the other worksheet. For instance:

Albert	3
Gerrity	8
Miller	2
Nathanson	4
Saleh	1
Rudd	9
Zymanski	5

Is there a formula that can automate populating names and the count without having to input each name manually?

If your last names are in separate column the Pivot Table will be the easiest way
