Pivot tables on Online file (Office 365/OneDrive)

Copper Contributor

Hi everyone,

premise: me & my workmates are using a Excel online file (everyone with a Microsoft online access)

our problems is that our file is oversized due to a lot of pivot tables, so it is working very slow.

In order to solve this problem can I keep the original file without any pivot tables

and make a new file with the pivot tables

sourcing data from the orginal file?

Naturally both files must work online.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello,

Excel online cannot use data connections to external files. Everything must be in the same workbook.

But maybe you don't need to open Excel in the browser to work with the files? If the files are shared via OneDrive, then you can open them in Excel for desktop. The newest release of Excel in Office 365 supports co-authoring in Excel for desktop.
