Format Cells Icon on Customized Toolbar

Copper Contributor

Hi.  DAE experience this problem:  I customize my toolbar to shortcut functions I use consistently, and one of those icons I include is the Format Cells icon.  But shortly after I insert that icon onto the toolbar, Excel changes the icon from the square Formal Cells icon to one with a paint bucket/brush, and grays it out the icon so it is not usable.  So I have to go back into the list of commands, remove the paint bucket/brush one and re-insert the square Format Cells icon which works for a little while then Excel again converts and grays it out.

If anyone has a remedy, please let me know.

No remedy, but the easiest alternative is to use the keyboard short-cut which is control+1

Thank you so much.  I didn't know there was a hotkey/shortcut.

Much appreciated!

That hotkey works for any object in Excel. I like it so much that I even try to use it in Word. But alas, in Word that key combination does not work.

The equivalent Shortcut in Word is

CTRL + D
