Excel Bug: tables with Power Query and without header row

Copper Contributor

Dear Microsoft Tech Community,

I would like to report an Excel bug as follows (Windows 10, Excel build 11601.20204 click-and-go, Version 1904 - Office 365 monthly channel):

The bug occurs when all three of the following conditions apply:

 - displaying data from a Power Query query in an Excel table (i.e. VBA ListObject with the Power Query query as its data source)

 - the Excel table has been set to have no header row

 - the Power Query query previously had a result with >=1 rows

 - the new result of the Power Query query has 0 rows

The observed behaviour is that what had been the last result row of the Power Query query is copied to where the header row of the result table would be if there were a header row.

I cannot imagine that this is intended behaviour (overwriting the contents of the cells in the theoretical location of the header row; putting table data in a place where structural information (column headings) should be).

I attach a demo file.

Could you please fix.

Thanks and best regards,

James Denman
