How many times have you emailed a file to yourself, or saved documents on a flash drive? This is a great way to keep your information accessible. But when it comes to corporate documents, many employees don’t understand the risk involved in these practices. Not every employee has that voice of reason, so how do you help them make the right choice? Risky Business Here at Microsoft, our jobs is to understand how people get their job done so we can help them do it better. Over time, we have uncovered many common practices among employees who want to access their corporate files outside of the company network. These are just a few things we see time and again.
  • Save unencrypted files on a USB drive
  • Send files to their personal email account
  • Store files in a personal file sharing account
  • Print documents and carrying the hard copies with them
  • Copy information into Google Docs to collaborate with others
  • Open email attachments through unsecured web applications
Most of the time, employees don’t even realize the security issues behind these workarounds. They are simply trying to get their work done any way they know how. Information Protection With Microsoft’s Enterprise Mobility Suite (EMS), we make it easy for your employees to make the right decisions. Azure Rights Management Services adds a layer of protection to your files and emails and manages who can access the protected information. So what happens if they lose that USB drive or their email is hacked? With EMS you don’t have to worry. You can configure your files so that only people you authorize can gain access. You also have the option to decide if a file can be edited or printed. These are just a few of the cool features that EMS has to offer. Learn more about the Enterprise Mobility Suite here .
