"Windows Defender Browser Protection"-extension: is it built into Edge Insider (Chromium)?

Brass Contributor

Question: In Edge Insider (Chromium), is Microsoft's Windows Defender Browser Protection extension built-in?

Or, if we want its extra protection added to Edge, should we still install it from the Google Chrome extensions store?

@Alan Harland is correct, we are including it by default in the Canary and Dev channels.

@Elliot Kirk When you say it's "built-in" how do I know? Defender Protection is obvious on the Mac Canary release. How do you know in the Windows version? Thanks!

Under Settings>>>Privacy and Services>>>Microsoft Defender SmartScreen
"Help protect me from malicious sites and downloads with Microsoft Defender SmartScreen"
You toggle it on or off

I think it would be better to have a separate extension-like icon on windows too, like on macOS. Users can just hide it in the menu if so they wish.
