Hi everyone, just a quick note to say that we deployed a new build 78.0.268.3 to the Dev channel today for Windows only. This corrects an issue with our digital signature that prevented Microsoft Edge from working on Windows 10 S and caused some people to see an "unverified publisher" or similar message. There are no other changes in this update.
Thanks! -David

@josh_bodner You guys are aware this isn't code signed, right? 1Password won't work because there's no valid code signature on the msedge.exe file.

@josh_bodner enterprise mode is no longer working as expected in this build. Now it is opening a new IE instance instead of opening IE inside of the tab.
I am using an enterprise site list, and it worked correctly in previous versions.

Defender ATP is blocking this version of Edge Dev from being installed or run because it is unsigned/untrusted.
Please can Microsoft clarify if this missing signature is a temporary mistake that will be fixed soon or if it is intentional and we should stop using Edge Dev; thanks

@josh_bodner no code signing? Tsk tsk tsk ... I love the new Edge, but that is sloppy work ...

@josh_bodner Has the release of Edge Dev 78.0.268.1 been pulled?
My Windows 8.1 Edge system won't update from 78.0.262.0 to 78.0.268.1 - it says there are no updates.
If I grab the Edge Dev installer and try to reinstall/update that way, I still end up with 78.0.262.0.
Thus I'm wondering if Edge Dev 78.0.268.1 exists/has been pulled?
If so, is it due to the fact it was unsigned?

@josh_bodnerHello, what about Favorites menu closing when we open a new tab (right click, or middle click)? In "Edge Legacy", it stays open and we can open several new tabs without closing the menu.
Thank you!

@MikeDiack @josh_bodner I see the same thing where it will not update to this new release. Any ideas?

Well I have two machines on Win10 1903 and one has taken 78.0.268.1, the other says its up to date on 78.0.262.0. The newer version is giving some rendering oddities though. The Register website front page is rendering the boxes around the headlines far taller than they need to be and at one point inserted all the adverts upside down. No issues with this site on the earlier version, Chrome or legacy Edge

@josh_bodner Clearing all cookies from a specific site using toolbar and clicking "Done" results in browser shutting down / crashing. Have to restart and use restore pages popup to continue.

Hey folks, check for an update, they fixed the issue in 78.0.268.3.

@MikeT_1Password Thanks!
I had just got updated to 78.0.268.1 this morning, lol. Just checked and now server updated me to 78.0.268.3
09-11-2019 11:23 AM
@MikeDiack and to everybody who noticed, yes, we did pull 268.1 for a little bit due to the signing issue, which is why if you tried to download it from the website last night, you remained on 262.

Both my machines have now taken 78.0.268.3 but sadly now both have a rendering issue. Look at https://www.theregister.co.uk/
Boxes around the story headlines are elongated vertically and scrolling is very lumpy. Site is fine on legacy edge or Chrome

@josh_bodner That bug still there in the current release

Good to know it was a false alarm :)

@josh_bodner i am seeing a message that my organization has turned off sync. How do I turn it on for my organization?
09-11-2019 07:09 PM
@josh_bodner The media player button introduced a few updates ago has been missing from my bar for a week or so. Has it been removed or is this a bug?
09-12-2019 02:26 AM
Synchronization doesn't work. Displays only: "Connection to the synchronization server cannot be established. Re-trial is in progress...".

Thanks for the update!
I have an issue since like 3 weeks, Discord server icons appear now as squares instead of their original shape. Seems like there's an issue with the <meta> tag rendering. No problem on other browsers.

@MarsMas Glad there's already a bug report.
Within 12 hours of using this build, already 2 sites have vertically flipped text (Google Sheets & OneDrive). Ironically, taking a screenshot fixes the bug.
Likewise, it's not limited just to the dino page, FWIW, but any webpage seemingly.
I've submitted this issue as well via the Smiley.

@ikjadoon By the way , this bug is not there in Canary Version 78.0.274.0 (Official build) canary (64-bit)

Sync works for me for both work and school accounts on Dev and Canary.
However, the new policy seems to do nothing as far as enabling history sync goes.
I believe the new one is called "Enable history data to sync across a user's devices...". Enabling it does nothing for me, history remains greyed out.

@josh_bodner when I open wego.here.com the maps render fine, if I go to another tab then back the whole map just FLIPS, try it and see for yourself, very weird bug.
09-12-2019 04:45 PM
@markyyy999 Mine didn't update but everything seems to work fine. It just when I first start it up I have to give it web cam aproval, like EVERY time.
09-12-2019 06:08 PM
@fgondorf that's expected, history sync itself isn't available yet. The policy was just allowing it once we have it.
09-12-2019 06:09 PM
@uptightgnome we moved it behind a feature flag while the feature is still in progress. You can enable it here: edge://flags/#global-media-controls.
09-12-2019 09:11 PM
@markyyy999 Yeah, I just reproduced that. Super weird.

Anybody had their Edge profile icon reset repeatedly on this build? Every day, on both of my machines running this build and did not have this bug prior to this build, the profile icon is reset back to my Microsoft account every day.
I set it back to one of Edge's built-in icons, this profile picture lasts for a few hours, and then it's back to the Microsoft account image.
I wonder if this is a syncing bug, somehow.

Have you checked out the new update to 78.0.268.1? I think you will be happy with the results. They upgraded on a lot of the prior issues and the performance. Also, read up on everything that was accomplished.

@PhillyTom Oh, gosh, haha, thank you, Tom.
Yes: that "bug" was fixed a few builds ago, actually. My apologies for not following up in this thread. Now, if you sign in with a Microsoft account, you cannot customize your avatar within Edge: it just goes to the Microsoft account page, where it should be.
I'm on 79.0.294.1 at the moment and it's much better. A few lingering bugs, but it's definitely much better than the 78 branch was for me, personally.
