Microsoft only officially supports Windows 10 1709 and up for Edge Insider but with this simple trick you can install Microsoft Edge Insider on any machine also running Windows 8.1 and 7 but the catch is you still need an x64 cpu as x86 cpus aren't supported at this time. To do this, open your preffered browser and open this site "www.microsoftedgeinsider.com" without quotes, click more platforms and channels, scroll down and you should see other platforms and channels, click Windows 10 and you should see downloads, click Dev or Canary, whatever channel you like and click download, accept the pre-release Edge EULA  Double click the Microsoft Edge Insider executable "MicrosoftEdgeSetup.exe"

It may ask for UAC and you are done! Now you can test Microsoft Edge Insider Dev and Canary. NOTE : Some features such as syncing do not work on 7 or 8.1 and earlier version of Windows 10 before 1709, also some icons may appear boxed. P.S Microsoft please don't blame for providing this guide...

While it is technically possible, I wouldn't advise this until those lower operating systems are officially supported.
