Hello Insiders! Today we released build 77.0.218.4 to the Microsoft Edge Developer channel. We’ve got some new features, many of which you’ve seen over the past week in Canary and have been eagerly waiting for in Dev. Additionally, we have now turned on several new languages on the insider website and added an Enterprise page with offline installer and policy samples. We’ve also fixed quite a few reliability and behavior issues, the most significant of which include:
New features and behavior:

@Elliot Kirk Oh, yellow icon of favorites folders were better :-(. Please help distinguish folders from websites without icon. Why not using yellow icon for folders everywhere - you use it in Windows, OneDrive, why don't use it in Favorites in Edge?

Definitely would love the option of turning every bookmark into icons, rather then having to right click everything just to turn them into icons.

This is excellent work some really good fixes, Edge is becoming the best and fastest browser out there.
Well done all, for all the hard work.

@Elliot Kirk Hey, you made pinned tabs wider! Thank you!
07-18-2019 01:41 PM
@Elliot Kirk thank you for remove the yellow favorite folders. The standard (no color) favorite folders looks great in favorites bar! :)

@Gerry5039
Gerry, it's SO nice to see someone write my name without @ & 1903. See how it's done Folks? It's easy to be traditional & customary, in spite of tech automation. :smiling_face_with_smiling_eyes::thumbs_up::thumbs_up:

Oh Elliot,
FYI:
Switch to IE, suddenly, isn't showing (in ellipsis) in latest Dev & Canary... even, with IE integration flags enabled. I, for one, have reported it to :)
Cheers,
Drew

@tojtojka Agree. The standard Windows yellow folder makes them stand apart from website icons much better than a "outline" style icon. Being faster to visually ID is also a positive accessibility factor

@solitonmedic
The speedbump to that is when sites have similar icons. Maybe, if both existed, all & individual, so name could show if & when necessary to distinguish between similar ones.
Cheers,
Drew

Hello!
After upgrade to 77.0.218.4, IE Mode completely disappears. #edge-internet-explorer-integration = IEMode, but there is no menu item to show page in IE.
Tell me please, how IEMode works now?
Regards,
Mikolaj

@welzewool @Kyle_Wu @Elliot Kirk
This is a known issue. Everyone keep reporting it to Mr. :) It surely will be corrected soon.
Cheers,
Drew

@welzewool Also missing that option here. Pretty much the main reason to use the new Edge at work... :(

@TopMarks15
Hi ____,
It's sounding as if everyone has the same issue. The Team has been notified & likely will have this rectified asap. But, still, submit it to :) The more instances & data they have the better. And it's both Dev and Canary.
Btw, for "at work" IE is, always, available in Win10; without any need for Edge C. Start > Windows Accessories (folder) > IE. Can (then) be pinned to taskbar.
Cheers,
Drew

Hi Drew
IE is being phased out of Edge slowly but surely, as it progresses to the New phase of Edge, eventually Edge will be a stand alone browser, without dependencies on Chrome or any other, It will be a completely new all singing all dancing whoopee browser.
I am blind and I use Dolphin Supernova without any glitches at all. Well done Microsoft, I have no accessibility problems at all.

@Elliot Kirk hey please add built-in vpn and data saver for people who have limited bandwith
07-19-2019 04:22 AM - edited 07-19-2019 04:25 AM
Mr Authentic
I totally agree with you on the VPN aspect, as it is needed by all on the Internet, its always a very expensive commodity just for basic security protection, something that Microsoft could do well looking into, especially in today's climate of cyber crime.

In the new TAB, there is an exception in the news stream when it opens.

BetterSnapTool on macos does not work with Edge browser. Is there any way to fix this? @Elliot Kirk

I dunno. I'd like to think so. But I can say, as a front line IT guy for a few thousand, I still get this a LOT:
"What's Edge?" MOST people are not going to rush out to upgrade. MOST people don't even know what this is or why they should care. Or not. Those that aren't FF or Chrome dedicated users will use the default browser whatever that may be. This is very likely the huge majority. So I'M hoping that Edgium will be the new default by 1909. I like the direction this browser is headed. Kudos to the dev team here. Good job so far

Hi everyone is that only me here who has problem with LastPass extension? it works for a few days then it stops for some reasons and then again i reinstalling it and again and again since i have this browser. Any update for this in the future?

No I have the same problem with TweakPass, but my last post on that was deleted, it works in Edge but not Edge C.
07-20-2019 10:54 AM
@tojtojka I know favorite folders are landscaped and favorites are portrait but i agree with would be nice if folders were a different color.
07-20-2019 02:59 PM
The visual corruption issues I kept having, especially when using video or browsing compositing heavy sites, disappeared with the last dev build (211) and are still gone with this one. Whatever happened, glad it did! Thanks.

I'll be more blunt. Whose silly idea are these ridiculous looking outlines?:exclamation_mark::thumbs_down: Put back the proper looking, almost realistic looking approach that WAS there:exclamation_mark: Stop trying to improve what doesn't need mucking about with it. If it ain't broke don't fix it. There is heaps that does need to be done. Don't spend time or effort on things that are fine 'as is". These outlines look SO dumb, geeeesh :face_with_rolling_eyes:
Cheers,
Drew

Lol :>The Folder icon is an interesting thing… I mean, All of the other icons in newEdge are outline style - such as the feedback, all of the icons in the main menu area, and the “no icon” page icon. However, the folder icon is located among all of the icons for other websites, so it seems out of place - so here’s my problem. If it is a filled-in, yellow icon, then it doesn’t fit with the rest of the iconography of the browser, but if it is an outline, it doesn’t really fit in with the icons of all of the other webpages. So maybe there needs to be a different solution… However, the color of the icons right now probably doesn’t need to be crazy priority as the final UI does not seem to be a really big focus right now as the developers are still working on support for other features (such as sync). We’ll see what happens, but for now i’m just glad the favorites is not just a long list of text.
07-21-2019 03:37 PM
When will the browser launch fully and become the real EDGE or will it just stay in dev stage?

Please try to add the video pop-out feature like in Opera Browser, it is really a very convenient feature@Elliot Kirk
07-31-2019 05:23 AM
I absolutely DISAGREE!! It is much more difficult to differentiate between links and folders. Please, please KEEP the yellow folders or at least make it an option

@Simon Raihani
I know some people (because humans hate change) have a hard time to accept & live with things that are a little different than the past. But, much as people sometimes hate hearing it said, that is what we must do sometimes. Sometimes we have to take things and live with them whether they are how we think they should be or not. Then, it's a matter of run with because it is what it is OR run with it begrudgingly because it is what it is.
Cheers,
Drew
