Awesome! Doing great with the browser so far. Two questions, what is the status on if you guys are going to implement set aside tabs? Also, are you guys going to change the inprivate icon to the blue one like I asked if you would here https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Discussions/Inprivate-mode-seriously-needs-to-have-brought-ba... because it looks better with it than the current one. Others are agreeing that it makes it better and different from chrome if you changed it. Please and thank you, keep up the good work.

Nice update. Let's, also, keep up to date with what all is, still, missing... be sure to add whatever I have not mentioned. Just dealing with basic 'Must haves".
> Add notes
> Pin to task bar (Can drop the silly Pin to desktop, geeesh)
> Favorites - Sort by name
> Use panels or fly-outs, as Edge now, NOT, pages for Settings & more.
> Fix the bad behavior with Multiple Desktop use!
> Make New tab be the Specified page ALL THE TIME!
> Replace the confirm dialogue box (from Edge) when closing multiple tab Edge C windows!
As I said, please, add anything I've forgotten to include.

Hi @Elliot Kirk
Spellchecker : Just been using it a few minutes so far, and it seems great. I've noticed that usually when I'm typing, a three-word predictive text box appears above. This is really cool as it saves a lot of key strokes, but every now and then it stops appearing - is this a bug, or is there method involved there? It doesn't seem to depend on where I'm typing, so am I accidentally hitting some key that's turning it off? Spellcheck keeps working though . I would mention, that Spellcheck is not auto-correting everything though, but it picks up most tings . I've tested it with a couple of delibrate erras while writing this.
I'm interested to know if the predicitve text is learning from my writing as I go along? If it is, then that's even cooler.
PDF: Docs seem to scroll a little more smoothly , although still far from fluid (definitely less jarring now though) . I'm looking forward to the return of the pdf editing functions. For me, the perfect PDF editor is Xodo - it's got everything and it's super easy to use. Would also love to see the right-click contect menu in a PDF enabling me to search on highlighted words or phrases.
Save As works fine.
Cast to device : Was broken for me and after the update tonight it's instantly picked up my Samsung TV, but haven't had a chnace to test yet.
Good job - exciting times!

"I'm interested to know if the predictive text is learning from my writing as I go along? If it is, then that's even cooler."
Yes, much the same as dictation & Cortana become (more) familiar with you & your voice over time.

Hi @Elliot Kirk,
I cannot find the flag "Save Page as MHTML" in latest dev build 22.214.171.124.
I could enable it in the previous build but this option is not available now
when saving web pages in this dev build. Where can I enable it again?
I think this is useful so I want to keep it in Edge.
I updated to 126.96.36.199 today but still cannot save web pages as MHTML format.
I hope that Edge will bring back this flag or directly as a option of saving web pages just like Internet Explorer.

Can you guys look into the bug when you press the close tab button right in the middle, it flickers the tab hover cards if you have them enabled? Sometimes it will flicker and you cannot press the close tab button because it's in the way. The only way right now around it is to either press the close button on the very top or to press CTRL + W.
Highlighted in red is where if you put your cursor the flicker happens. If you press above it's fine but on or under is where it happens.

@Elliot Kirk Unfortunately the issue with constant high CPU/GPU load that has been present in Canary for the last few days is now in Dev. Are you aware of this and looking into it? It is impossible to use either version on a laptop now.

@Elliot Kirk Thank you for the update I am finding the Browser to be working well. Just a couple of things I would l like to mention.
The new tab doesn't open the specified page.
When typing in the address bar you don't suggestions like you do in chrome (apart from things you have already typed)

Yes I love the current fly-out that Edge uses now. It is one of the main reasons I started to use Edge over the other browsers. One click of the button and I'm able to see all of my favorites pop out on the side of the screen. I really don't like the Menu --> hover over favorites --> slide over to select a favorite approach that all the other browsers have. Edge makes it so much quicker and easier.

@Elliot Kirk Feature requests:
1) Floating menu (browser top bars) like the ribbon interface in O365.
2) Pin tab to start menu, with option to pin as an app (no browser chrome)
1) Floating menus
If the search and favorites bar are unpinned, they hide away from existence, giving more screen space to the user. By moving the mouse up to the top of the browser, they slide down from the top.
This will be great to give O365 web apps a more desktop-like feel, on a psychological level, and as a matter of screen real estate.
Bonus points to have a global default, but also an option to set it per tab.
UI proposal: Right-clicking on a tab would have the option to "hide menus in this Tab" - it would implicitly create a Favorite, to remember the setting. The setting would be per-domain.
2) Pin to start menu
This enables users to conveniently create shortcuts to frequently used sites, and in the case of sites that work as an app, to pin them as apps, where the browser menu would not show by default.

The last couple of releases wouldn't allow touch or pen to open the settings. Only a mouse would work. I sent this information via Feedback and received a response that it was being looked into. It hasn't been fixed on this release nor is it listed as a bug. I am using a 2017 Surface Pro. Am I the only only experiencing this?

How much longer until Dark Mode is added? That's all I'm waiting for to make new Edge my default browser. Thanks.

"The new tab doesn't open the specified page."
This is a known issue which, has been reported some time ago. The Team is working on rectifying it. Right now, it will open the specified page, BUT, only the 1st time the browser is (initially) opened... subsequent openings (without closing 1st) will > New tab.
Please, continue to report it to :)

The first option only works if your OS theme is dark. The second one doesn't affect the whole browser, just Dev Tools. What I'm waiting for is the ability to set dark mode in Edge independent from OS theme, as the older Edge did. When will that be added?

I don,t know about that. It takes time and patience to get all the bugs out. Have you ever built a program like windows from start to finish. I don,t think so. Besides isn't that why they use us . Trial and error. I'm not great with designing, but on the other hand I'm 110% better than I was. Just watch, I personally am going to make Cortana the best friend you have ever seen or had before. And I do add that I am starting from the ground level. Besides with having cancer, it,s my only chance of getting some kind of bank account built up for my wife and kids. LOL on the bank account thing. Anyway all I am saying is Rome wasn't built in a day. Until next time from TattooJimmy.@Elliot Kirk

I actually much prefer the full page for Edge settings. I never liked the small pane Edge used: on desktops & laptops, I prefer seeing it all in once place. And the search function works reasonably well.
I'm also getting much higher CPU, RAM, and even GPU usage with 188.8.131.52 (Official build) dev (64-bit). I've reported it via the Smiley face.
My CPU fan was at 80% with just a few tabs open, on an i5-8600K! I thought I'd mistakenly scheduled a render for the middle of the day.
Sometimes, both Edge & "Desktop Window Manager" have similar CPU usage, but perhaps a red herring.
More concretely, the RAM usage is quite high: Google News + this forum + Settings and I'm at 1.9GB!

"The RAM usage is quite high"
In edge://flags, try enabling "Proactive Tab Freeze and Discard". It may not work though, as the devs suppressed "page-almost-idle" Chromium flag. In addition, install The Great Suspender extension from Chrome store.
However, without fixing the High CPU Load bug, its all meaningless.

So you're also seeing high CPU? I guess it must be quite common. I just installed Canary on a more capable desktop PC in addition to a laptop I've been testing it on, with different CPU/GPU and OS version, and sure enough it's there too (although not as bad):
This is from having a single tab with example.com in Edge Canary, compared to a few "real" sites in Edge Classic. The only way to get the CPU usage to a manageable level is to minimize the browser, but it never gets the Suspended (green leaf) indication.

High CPU and GPU is a known issue everyone is complaining about. See this thread: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Discussions/Browser-and-GPU-process-are-much-higher-compared-...
But there is no indication Edge team is working to fix it. They never commented or give any ETA. I'm back to Chrome for now, my older laptop fan is winding up like turbine when Edge is idling. :)

Please add this feature:
1. Open a link in a new tab on website A;
2. Use gesture of “go back to previous page" in the new opened tab;
3. The new opened tab shall be closed and back to website A.
Ooh, I like that feature. It's how Safari behaves on macOS. Whether the browser opens a new tab or I manually open a link in a new tab, as long as I haven't navigated further in that new tab, I can swipe back and Safari will close the tab and take me to the tab that generated it.

It seems ludicrous that stuff has to be added all the time from that Google store to try to have this back to what we like and is familiar.
It seems ludicrous that people expect instant gratification from the Microsoft developers. This is a developer version of a work-in-progress. Expressing your exasperation that it's not happening fast enough is like stomping your foot in the playground.
Put down your pitchforks, people.
05-20-2019 12:55 PM
My point is not in regard to how long anything takes. I am fully hip to the work-in-progress concept. I have oft tried to pacify others & suggest patience is a virtue in things like this.
The point was regarding having to > Chrome/Google for stuff over & over. Stuff we already have & like. Or the idea of involvement with Chrome & Google 'style' or approaches. Stuff & or ways, some of us have never cared for in the 1st place.
I know enough not to be impatient with something like this. Had nothing to do with the speed at which anything is done. Please, forgive if it was misleading. It was, indeed, a reply to what the other person had said in the same context.
Heck, we Windows Insiders never stop being involved with a work-in-progress with Windows 10 LOL. We are pretty accustomed to waiting ;)

"It seems ludicrous that stuff has to be added all the time from that Google store to try to have this back to what we like and is familiar."
I disagree with that for several reasons:
- Google Chrome is enormously more popular browser compare to Edge Classic, largely owing to very big extensions pool - small programs that free users from browser developer vision what is right or wrong thus engaging thousands of new contributors;
- Edge Classic never had such reach and freedom driven choice of features offered by Chrome extensions you claim it did;
- current Edge Chromium releases as stated by the MS Edge CVP are various prototypes of the future browser that will likely be released in autumn 2019 with next Windows Feature update. As such they are ongoing experiments, and internal code may grossly differ from one release to another;
- be very thankful to large pool of Chrome enthusiasts who enable you now to seamlessly enrich your user experience with both core rendering engine and extensions. Take this opportunity while exists.
You need to configure extension settings, just like you configure browser settings. Use your ingenuity. :)

That is the same release time suggestion as I put forth a few weeks ago. It will take at least that long for it to be ready; certainly, not less.
More doesn't necessarily mean better. Although, 1 thing may be better from one store & for another item it could be the reverse. Better would be have just 1 store; people like simplicity & one stop shopping.
Rounded corners or not isn't critical, but, keeping the Features we have, now, is, but, they will come in time. Many of us are making it very clear what those Must-have, Must-keep, items are. And most find changing pages for the ellipsis items unappealing, not intuitive & counter-productive.
