How much longer until Dark Mode is added? That's all I'm waiting for to make new Edge my default browser. Thanks.

Hello, loving the new Edge. Give us the Media Autoplay options like the old Edge and I'm full time with the new Edge.

Bob

"The new tab doesn't open the specified page."
This is a known issue which, has been reported some time ago. The Team is working on rectifying it. Right now, it will open the specified page, BUT, only the 1st time the browser is (initially) opened... subsequent openings (without closing 1st) will > New tab.
Please, continue to report it to :)
Cheers,
Drew

Hi,
Dark can be had, now, already. > edge://flags, type Dark in the Search box & Enable what it shows.

@cdouglas
Yes, indeed and that approach MUST be preserved in Edge C! Changing pages (leaving the one one is using, working in or looking at) is ridiculous!
Cheers,
Drew

The first option only works if your OS theme is dark. The second one doesn't affect the whole browser, just Dev Tools. What I'm waiting for is the ability to set dark mode in Edge independent from OS theme, as the older Edge did. When will that be added?

Are there plans to add Edge Sync with o365 accounts? I can post to this thread using my o365 account, but I can't sync my Edge profile with it. This would be a really handy feature.

@LRCROW
Ah ok understood. I reckon I forget to think of that due to always running my whole OS & everything possible, Dark. You may be excited to know that in 1903 you will have this...
Cheers,
Drew

I don,t know about that. It takes time and patience to get all the bugs out. Have you ever built a program like windows from start to finish. I don,t think so. Besides isn't that why they use us . Trial and error. I'm not great with designing, but on the other hand I'm 110% better than I was. Just watch, I personally am going to make Cortana the best friend you have ever seen or had before. And I do add that I am starting from the ground level. Besides with having cancer, it,s my only chance of getting some kind of bank account built up for my wife and kids. LOL on the bank account thing. Anyway all I am saying is Rome wasn't built in a day. Until next time from TattooJimmy.@Elliot Kirk

I actually much prefer the full page for Edge settings. I never liked the small pane Edge used: on desktops & laptops, I prefer seeing it all in once place. And the search function works reasonably well.
//
I'm also getting much higher CPU, RAM, and even GPU usage with 76.0.159.0 (Official build) dev (64-bit). I've reported it via the Smiley face.
My CPU fan was at 80% with just a few tabs open, on an i5-8600K! I thought I'd mistakenly scheduled a render for the middle of the day.
Sometimes, both Edge & "Desktop Window Manager" have similar CPU usage, but perhaps a red herring.
More concretely, the RAM usage is quite high: Google News + this forum + Settings and I'm at 1.9GB!

Can we be expecting a dark mode soon? We love a dark mode sis @Elliot Kirk

"The RAM usage is quite high"
In edge://flags, try enabling "Proactive Tab Freeze and Discard". It may not work though, as the devs suppressed "page-almost-idle" Chromium flag. In addition, install The Great Suspender extension from Chrome store.
However, without fixing the High CPU Load bug, its all meaningless.

So you're also seeing high CPU? I guess it must be quite common. I just installed Canary on a more capable desktop PC in addition to a laptop I've been testing it on, with different CPU/GPU and OS version, and sure enough it's there too (although not as bad):
This is from having a single tab with example.com in Edge Canary, compared to a few "real" sites in Edge Classic. The only way to get the CPU usage to a manageable level is to minimize the browser, but it never gets the Suspended (green leaf) indication.

@Elliot Kirk having the same issue as @dvdwnd the CPU and GPU are running at almost 100% all the time. Causing a battery drain. Please fix this. For now, going back to my old browser :(

High CPU and GPU is a known issue everyone is complaining about. See this thread: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Discussions/Browser-and-GPU-process-are-much-higher-compared-...
But there is no indication Edge team is working to fix it. They never commented or give any ETA. I'm back to Chrome for now, my older laptop fan is winding up like turbine when Edge is idling. :)
