Built-in HTTPS redirect

Hey EdgeDevs!

I was just thinking, since currently there is no HTTPS Everywhere addon availalbe in MS Store.. why not developed a built-in browser solution for this?

Whenever possible Edge would redirect user to a secure HTTPS connection. If website is not secure, meaning it uses HTTP protocol, Edge would notify user about visiting an Unsafe website, explaining that data transferred while browsing this website is not encrypted. And then would ask if the user wants to continue anyway to the site.

Maybe in general there could be a built-in Windows Defender for Edge, so we avoid the need of installing certain protective AddOns. SmartScreen feature is already there on Win10, which is a great step in this direction. Perhaps adding HTTPS redirect feature and File Scan feature on each download would be next steps towards Edge Security.

I would even put an icon of Windows Defender, similar as Brave Browser has in the URL bar, on the far right corner. This at the moment user is not really aware of being protected by SmartScreen feature for example.

Edge classic and Edge insider both support it without the need for 3rd party extensions/add-ons.

also you can use this flag to auto-launch it on start:

Application Guard Prelaunch
If enabled, Microsoft Edge Application Guard will be prelaunched in the background when recently used. – Windows

also it's true that HTTPS everywhere extension is not on Microsoft's Edge insider extension store but that's not new, there are lots of extensions missing from there. 99.99% of the extensions are available in Chrome webstore.
Microsoft first needs to open a proper portal for extension developers to be able to submit their extension to the store first.
that being said, there is nothing stopping you to install HTTPS everywhere from Chrome webstore :)
