I would like to share a long-standing issue in Office Mac, you can easily repro in Powerpoint 2016 up to the latest Fast build 16.7 (171008)

  • The rule: in French, there is no space following an apostrophe ‘
  • The problem: no suggestion on spelling mistakes on words with accents following an article with an apostrophe. Workaround: add a space after the apostrophe
  • To repro on text setup in FR language:

1.Type « l’étonement »

2.Right click to see spelling suggestions: notice that NO suggestions are made.

3.Now add a space after the apostrophe. Now you can read « l’ étonement »

4.Right click to see spelling suggestions: notice that suggestions are NOW made!

Hi @Benjamin Amsaleg

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. The PowerPoint Development team decided not to fix this issue. We would suggest you keep reporting through in product feedback. The more reports the Dev team see the more they are likely to address it in the future. We wish we had better news!

@Stafford Quaid @Allen Smith I am having the same issue in office 365 on PC.
I don't understand why they don't want to fix it as it is just wrong in the french language.
