AGENDA:
Our fantastic speakers include:

  • 0845-0915   Registration & Welcome
  • 0930-1015   Trying To Keep Things Simple: Menus/Maps/Integration/Access Versions presented by Peter Merry, merry.co.uk
Peter likes to provide elegant and efficient solutions to complex requirements. His approach is grounded in good logic and is (he hopes) understandable.  This talk will give a brief overview of four areas: menus, linking to Google maps, web integration and managing versions of Access.
  • 1015-1045   Wizhook and Shared Images presented by Peter Cole
Wizhook - To see what’s available open the Object Browser, right click and select “Show Hidden Members”.  This has been around since Access 2000.  Peter has collected documentation from the internet, partially translated some and come up with some useful functions.
Shared Images: Since 2010, images can be shared rather than embedded or linked. Peter will show how changing a stored image changes all occurrences in the database.
  • 1100-1200   Start Your Project Right presented by Armen Stein, Access MVP, J Street Technology
Congratulations!  You’re starting a new custom development project.  But the way a project starts is a good predictor of how it will finish.  To make everything proceed smoothly and complete successfully, it’s important to develop a great project plan.  You must understand and document your customer’s needs, project scope, and perhaps most importantly, the cost estimates!  Armen will discuss how J Street plans Access and web projects from hundreds of hours to thousands, and he’ll leave you with samples and tools that you can use.
  • 1315-1400   Building And Automating DSN-Less Connection to SQL Servers; here, there, and everywhere presented by Peter Bryant, Corylus Business Systems
Peter has developed a set of tools to enable him to fire and forget application upgrades.  You will see how you can have an app that will automatically reconnect to the right database on the right SQL server on the right network by just starting the app.
  • 1415-1515   Practical Techniques in Access Applicatons presented by Armen Stein, Access MVP, J Street Technology
In this tour of a significant Access/SQL Server application that J Street delivered this year, Armen will demonstrate many of the techniques that you can use to build powerful, robust systems.  Along the way we’ll look at generating HTML emails with custom attachments, sorting and filtering forms, generating QuickBooks invoices, and using the power of SQL Server for back-end calculations.
  • 1530   Close
