There is no way to filter searches or narrow them by date on Stream.

Please add ways to search for Stream videos using filter conditions and dates etc., since searching in detail is currently difficult.

Connector accessto universal print via proxy

I have just realized that recently you published this update Use OneDrive for Business and SharePoint for meeting recordings - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Docs which is unfortunately making life harder for all people which are regularly publishing content on MS Stream as we will need to record video and then upload to Stream. People which are recording WWC calls, regular readiness videos or anything else would appreciate option to select where you want to store your videos as per Default.

Are you planning this or is it already in the release?

I think it would be great if the entire chat function of teams can be opened in an additional tab, rather than each chat individually. I often pop out a chat but end up working on something and get an important message from someone where the chat is not in a separate tab.

Send Emails from Microsoft Domains

I noticed automatic email notifications are being sent from khoros-mail.com domain.

It is expected because I believe this community is build on top of khoros platform.

However, I would like recommend to have a better privacy and trust , create a mechanism so notification emails would send directly from microsoft.com domain.

It would be easier for spam management and also it is more reliable.

Hi. I am Korean and I live in Vietnam now. I don't speak English well, so I hope you understand

I don't know if I can write something like this here, but I write this because I like MS and MS puts a lot of effort into cloud services.

I know that cloud services require space such as a center to store a lot of data, and it costs a lot to eliminate the heat generated there.

That's why I think, cell phones and computers are coming out with higher and higher capacities these days, and two people like me aren't able to use them all.

if so. Could it be possible to provide cloud services using the remaining capacity?

I think can group people in the same company together.

Or can't we provide cloud services without the need to create a new data center by giving storage providers financial compensation according to their storage, or by providing storage at the mobile phone manufacturing stage and lowering the price of mobile phones accordingly?

I don't know if it will be financially profitable yet, but I don't have to build a new data center or buy storage, so I think it will be possible for business.

If good at data distribution and encryption, it would be okay.

What do you think about this?

I teach learners who are deaf or hard of hearing and use Stream to caption their mainstream teachers' videos. It's a great resource. When we are watching quite technical demonstration videos on YouTube, we set playback speed to 0.7 which means we can watch what's happening in the picture and have enough time to read the captions. The 0.5 playback speed you have on Stream is too slow. They get fed up and lose focus.

Right now, in case you user detected any Code of Conduct violation, they would be able to report it and then write down why they think it is against CoC. I would like recommend to add category , so people would be able to know when to file a report and in long term it is easier for moderators to do data mining like how many of reported contains was in each category and easier to decision making. I would recommend the following categories:

Spam

Malware

Contains PII

Wrong Category

Other Concerns

In such a case, it is not only about abuse contents but it is a way to help moderators to make decisions. So it could be like report to moderator.

PS.: Sehr gut ist der Zusammenschluss der Office Programme. Bei gleichem Bildungsstand gibt es weniger Konflikte, man trifft sich auf Augenhöhe.

PS.: Very good is the merger of the Office Programs. Learning new information, i.e. getting the information into long-term memory, would be a good next step, for greater educational equality. With the same level of education, there are fewer conflicts, you meet on an equal footing.

Modern screen resolutions are getting higher, making it difficult to see certain pages, it's not just an accessibility issue anymore.
Apple's Magic Mouse allows for double tap to quick zoom on the screen.

Ideas to fix:

Dock the magnifier in taskbar
Run on start automatically
Make it more practical

The ask is to add "User-selected Universal Printers" as part of the roamable settings.

Theme: desktop background, user tile, taskbar position, etc.
Internet Explorer Settings: browsing history, typed URLs, favorites, etc.
Passwords: Windows credential manager, including Wi-Fi profiles
Language Preferences: spelling dictionary, system language settings
Ease of Access: narrator, on-screen keyboard, magnifier

"showinfo=false" not working in Microsoft Streams embed code

The Show info option to off in the embed code does not work. When switched off, the code generator updates to "showinfo=false". However when the iframe embed code is copied to another site, the overlay of the title, likes, plays and add to watchlist, etc is still visible.

Is there a work around to hide this video info? Or can Microsoft please update this so that it works?

"Appuyer sur Onglet pour rechercher avec xxx" should be "Appuyer sur Tab pour rechercher avec xxx".

(Tab for Tabulation key)

"Bouton «Afficher l'historique»" should be "Afficher le bouton Historique".

I think "Charger l'extension décompressée" is better than "Charger l'élément décompressé".

"Extension de pack" is wrong.
I suggest "Créer un pack d'extension".

Writing essays for university work and need to be able to track the current word count in the main body of the essay. Happy to use Section Breaks for this. OK to use Quick Parts.

Would like to be able to INSERT at the top of the section (In a coloured Text Box if possible, that can easily be deleted later) something like NumWordsSec as a FIELD. Would like it to count words in current section in 2 ways: real time - for editing and cutting down post writing and on command as writing main essay as it could be distracting in real time. However, will take either if that's too complex.

Would be very useful and my entire course group would be grateful. I suspect all students would appreciate. Thank you.

ms-settings: shortcut to "Search Universal Print for Printers"

The way a user can bring up the "Search Universal Print for Printers" dialog box is not the easiest for non technical users. (devices > printers > add printer > wait > Click search universal print button)

If we could have a ms-setting: shotcut directly to the "Search Universal Print for Printers". We could add this to a users start menu or desktop.

It would be helpful if the download of transcripts were readily available from OneDrive/SharePoint - seems this is not available.
It would be helpful if it were easier to transcribe the transcript from vtt format into Word, using the Microsoft Vtt file cleaner is public domain and not able to use where the files are secure/sensitive. I cannot find any information on how secure the Microsoft VTT FIle Cleaner is, we have a lot of sensitive data.

Stream from Sharepoint/OneDrive via Stream

I don't mind the videos are now placed somewhere else but it would be nice to point to that file from Stream and enable a link to it instead of uploading the recording to Stream for it to just place it some other place in Sharepoint and probably taking up double the space.

Since Stream doesn't get any new recordings people have no idea what videos are made and where they are. Stream was our portal and index of video content. For new employees needing to see something or for people coming back from time off and seeing what content was made since last.

Unless of course a new kind of portal / index of videos exists.

ピボットテーブルで日付を列ラベル、行ラベルに配置し、年集計した際、年が1年前に表示される現象があります。

この現象は日付データに0があるときにおきます。

0は1900年1月0日という日付で認識されてしまい、それで誤動作してしまうのではないか推察しています。

もしもその場合は、日付をVLOOKUP関数などで参照する場合、その参照先が空白になっていると0と計算されるので、これを使って元データにするたびにこの現象が起きます。私は今回初めて確認しましたが、VLOOKUP関数で日付を参照するというのは実際のビジネスシーンではかなりな頻度で行うのではないかと思っています。

Translating transcripts on Stream

The ability to translate a live conversation is already available, so is the ability to translate an Office document, the ability to transcribe a video uploaded into streams is already available. However, if the video is in another language and I am looking to have the transcribed captions translated I am unable to do so. I have tried a work around by playing the video on the live conversation translation tool and the results are not optimal but it seems like this could be make possible by analyzing the written text vs the "second hand" audio text.

I feel that it would be highly beneficial to young adults/kids who need to learn and only have an xbox if the xbox one developed an Microsoft Teams app for xbox and made it available on the store for download, as not a lot of young adults/kids have laptop devices in order to listen to their remote learning, but some of them do have either a xbox or PS device, and instead of learning and developing their knowledge which they should be doing at an early stage in their lives in order to get the best opportunities for themselves for the future their instead playing games which isn't helping them learn anything, if you do read this please take it into consideration to be able to download and develop Microsoft Teams onto the xbox as even just listening what their teacher has to say through the TV would be way more beneficial than just playing a game all day not learning anything.

Hi,

My 5 year old son is home learning due to coronavirus lockdowns. His teachers have recorded lessons which he accesses via OneNote and then Stream to watch the videos. The teacher frequently asks him to "Pause the video now whilst you go get your colours (etc)". He then fumbles to pause whilst the video invariably continues to play, then we have to back track 10 seconds and play again. It's just a bit clumsy.

My idea is to give the teacher the ability to insert a Pause tag / breakpoint into the video. Stream would then encounter this tag and pause the video automatically. My son can then press play again when he's ready. A similar effect could be achieved if the teacher recorded multiple recordings and then each video ended, (like chapters?), but this is asking a lot more overhead from the teachers who are could be challenged by this all already and have limited video editing skills. I have no idea what goes into the creation of these videos, what format they are or whether inserting tags is even remotely possible! :)

If at all possible though it would make Stream a slightly better tool for education, which is what we're using it for.

Video organisation is limited to OR searching at present. In a large organisation it is difficult to tag items so that people can find what they want with a single tag search. Mutiple tag searches produce even more hits. If seaching could be #tag1 AND #tag2 it would be possible, for example, to search by department and subject tags to narrow down the results.

Ideally it would be possible to provide a URL link to enable posting a message that pulls up a filtered list.

I opened MS Teams in the Webbrowser (Edge) yesterday and third party cookies were disallowed in the Edge settings. Teams then (correctly) shows a message - however the message includes, I guess, variables which shouldn't be there.

When removing a user from Stream, the message “If you select “Delete” everything belonging to this user will be removed from Microsoft Stream. This action cannot be undone” is displayed.

However currently, even if a user who has been completely removed from Azure Active Directory is also removed from Stream, that user’s uploaded videos are not automatically deleted.

Since there is a discrepancy between the message content and the actual behavior, please either fix the message, or make it so that removed users’ content is also displayed as the message suggests.

I teach a class and host the videos on MS Stream. Because Upload Date is an unreliable sorting factor, I've named my videos in order upon requests made by my students. However, now they cannot sort easily by title. They get all the videos in the course and have to scroll down every time. They cannot search for something like "Week 2" because that just returns every single video.

I am hosting my course materials on MS Stream, and I wish I could make the videos more easily navigable for students by organizing them into weeks, or topics, etc. Right now they just go in one big pile that is technically sortable by things like upload date, but sometimes smaller videos get uploaded sooner than bigger ones in a batch and that mixes up the order. Overall, having videos in one big pile only is quite inconvenient.

YouTube has playlists and that seems to work.

I had a student request that I title and organize my videos in a clearer and easier-to-sort way, and he was right so I went to do it. But in MS Stream, you can edit a video, apply, then you get taken to the video you just changed the title of (I guess to "see the title in action"...?), and then I go back to videos, then expand the list all the way to the bottom, then edit another, and then...

It is a profoundly inconvenient loop and I am going to repeat it for >20 videos.

Meeting options

and gain the benefit to set meeting options
or you set meet now to rename each session properly and lose the benefit to setting meeting options

we are a school that has lots of consecutive sessions and we cant assign meeting options before each sessions so we have to schedule meeting and that reflect on threads opened to each lesson after some lessons all lessons are joined together and its a messy look that make our student cant find the proper session

so my idea is an option to set a default meeting options by default
or an option to rename the scheduled meetings before starting the meeting

when using Excel Online as private user, you can call the STOCKHISTORY function in a sheet, but then you get an error, that a license is required to be able to use the function. It looks like the following screenshot.

As an educator and user of 365 office at IMCO, I would like to suggest the following, which would greatly enhance forms. Educators working with developers is the only way to get things done through the use of multi-disciplined teams.

Here is the list:-

1. An option to stop students from skipping back to earlier questions.

2. Basic formatting functions that educators can use to colour text or bold text in the questions and subtitles.

3. More questions types such as matching, drag and drop, gap fill.

4. In the text questions, the ability to format and layout text in the answer area for students. At the moment if students write an essay the layout is one single block of text.

5. A way to insert audio and restrict the number of times they can listen. At the moment you have to put the audio on a presentation slide then save it as a video file as a workaround, but they can still listen as many times as they want.

6. And a function which if the students reduce the forms application window then the application will submit the work. This is an anti-cheating function because as it is now students can surf the internet by just reducing forms window and then enlarge to paste in the words/sentences from the internet. For programmers at MS, this will be a piece of cake.

However, for educators, we have the ideas but not the ability to program.

7. A section subtotal which is not available at the moment.

I have updated Edge to version 88 this morning.
I have noticed this case inconsistency in the main menu :

"capture Web" should start with an uppercase letter "Capture Web" to be consistent with other menu items.

Regarding Extensions in Schemas

I am grateful to see the response to the previous query looking for guidance on implementing Extensions in the AppXManifest, namely Extensions in the package manifest schema - Windows UWP applications | Microsoft Docs.

The concept of separation of app specific extensions versus package-level (applying to all apps in the package) might need a bit of tweaking, and thus tweaking of the supported element lists in that documentation.

While multi-application packages are one reason for package level extensions, another is package extensions that are (or could be) unrelated to a specific application. A key example would be in-process com extensions that are intended for applications outside of the package. Currently all com extensions must be placed under an Applications/Extension, and there is support for in-process COM dlls to be added as a Surrogate in the manifest, at least from a validation standpoint but they don't work. Shell Extensions are an example of this, where the explorer.exe process should integrate them

into the explorer process, but publishing in-process shell extensions for consumption by other application level processes not in the package has been traditionally supported.

So I believe the list of package level extensions should be extended, starting with the shell extensions. However, it is possible that Microsoft wants to support the concept of shell extensions without adding them directly into the explorer.exe process (for security issues). Which is OK, as long as we can get support for traditional shell extensions. In computing, it is really all about the data and end-users don't always start with the app, but the data file. Integrated shell commands are not enough, and shell extensions have been a long-standing solution. While some shell extensions have been migrated to independent Manifest elements for support, most have not. I believe Microsoft has some work to do here, and a roadmap (even without dates and just saying this is in or out of scope) will be helpful to developers WANTING to move their existing applications to MSIX.

Support M365 Groups/Teams for Access Control

Apparently Universal Print only supports individual users or security groups for Access Control. It would be nice if access could be granted to Teams or M365 Groups. Needing to create a redundant, disconnected security group just to give my Accounting team access to a specific printer, for example, isn't very convenient.

Xerox User Account Code Support

I would like to see support for Xerox User Account Code to be added. This allows me to keep track of how many prints is being done and from who it is coming from.

This has been such an issue at our organization due to not being able to limit how much one can print. Resulting us going way over our paper budget.

Nesting Universal Printer roles within Azure Administrative Unit

We have One Azure Tenant however most of the IT operations works regionally where regional IT team take care of all IT design and support for that region (simply we are not Central IT). Azuire Administrative Unnit from Azure IDM is an excellent option for us which provide more OU kind of structure within AAD. So having Universal Printer role within Administrative Unit will allow Member firm to manage their instance more accurately

Outlook (desktop/Windows) : weird translation (french)

I have closed Outlook yesterday with some e-mails opened.
When I launched Outlook this morning, this window appeared :

The first sentence is weird (it looks like an automatic translation, with errors).

Translated back to English, it means"Outlook closed while opening items".

I don't know what is the original string, but I suggest to replace it with something like :

"Outlook a été fermé avec des éléments ouverts.".

Linux support for Universal Print connector

The ability to install the connector on a Linux server for use with legacy printers would be nice. In cloud-only environments, there are no servers on-premise or always-on PCs to install the connector, and having to use a dedicated Windows computer provides a larger attack surface. We'd love for all offices to have printers with native support, but it'll be a few years before that might happen. ;)

Graphical server for diferents Apps and the next WSL2

Hi friends,

Microsoft need to build a graphical server for different applications that do not have a viewing window. Microsoft needs to build a server that can display a visualization window for the different applications that it needs, avoiding the download of several graphical windows. The idea would be like a television monitor that serves all programs, but the user can, however choose any other that exists.

A single monitor that can work with most applications will be the big challenge for microsoft this year 2021.

WSL 2 needs to take the next step too.
