Hi Chris, I like the channel function in stream classic. However we cannot use NEw Stream yet since migration hasn't taken place yet.

We need something like youtube. the follow button serves absolutely no purpose in Stream classic?

We'd like to regularly post new videos for the whole organisation to watch, but we need the automatic notification for everyone that follows the channel.

How can we best proceed?

Connector accessto universal print via proxy

Universal print connector while trying to connect via proxy is not working at all. Would be good if this product can be made work via a proxy connection to Universal Print. Since most of corporates use internal DNS, register.print.microsft.com is not reached directly from the server hence connection is getting failed.

, as you indicated the New Stream doesn't support the concept of a Channel. It's not clear how the people who choose to Follow a Channel will get a notification when a video is added to that Channel if the New Stream does not support Channels. What mechanism does the New Stream have for the use case where someone chooses to Follow a Channel (~YouTube subscribe) AND wants to receive a notification (~YouTube tap the Bell Icon) every time a video is added to the channel that they are following.

I have just realized that recently you published this update Use OneDrive for Business and SharePoint for meeting recordings - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Docs which is unfortunately making life harder for all people which are regularly publishing content on MS Stream as we will need to record video and then upload to Stream. People which are recording WWC calls, regular readiness videos or anything else would appreciate option to select where you want to store your videos as per Default.

Are you planning this or is it already in the release?

Printer name instead of printer ID in reports

It would be a good idea to allow the report to view the printer by name instead of printerId. Useful information would also be the amount of pages printed and the size of the paper on which it is printed out.

Please provide a 0.7 playback speed.

I teach learners who are deaf or hard of hearing and use Stream to caption their mainstream teachers' videos. It's a great resource. When we are watching quite technical demonstration videos on YouTube, we set playback speed to 0.7 which means we can watch what's happening in the picture and have enough time to read the captions. The 0.5 playback speed you have on Stream is too slow. They get fed up and lose focus.

Videos recorded by a public team are labeled as "Restricted" but they are available to all accounts, which sometimes causes a trouble with confused users.
(It is not that they are confused about the distinction between public and private.)
To eliminate user confusion, please use easier-to-understand labels such as "Unrestricted" for videos that are virtually unrestricted or "Available" for those that are recorded by a public team.

Regarding Microsoft Stream administrative rights

We currently grant Global Reader permission to users of external companies when we have them check their tenant settings. But this permission does not allow access to Microsoft Stream administration screen. On the other hand, with this permission granted, they can modify various settings, which we would like to avoid. So, please add a permission that allows them only to view Microsoft Stream admin center.

From my understanding of the new Stream (as part of OneDrive and SharePoint), we are losing the ability to send people URLs that bring them directly to certain parts of videos. I'd like to retain that as we move into the upgraded space. I also would like a way so that people can open a description or navigation pane so that they can click around to specific parts of the video too. This really helps with training videos!

It is possible to use access permissions to restrict the downloading of videos on a per-video basis, but there is no way to specifically restrict this on unmanaged devices, so please make this possible as an administrative function.

- Larry, circling back to this, we are now making improvements to the Stream web part for use with New Stream. If there are specific requests you have for what content you can show with a web part and how it gets sorted, please share those as a new idea, and add the "Web Part" label. Just go to Submit an Idea.

Regarding who watched and for how long, it's true that Stream (Classic) does not provide this information. However, if you are using New Stream and thus store your video files on OneDrive for Business or SharePoint Online, you can access basic statistics about views and viewers. For site-level statistics, see Site Usage information. At the file level, select any video, and then go to the Details pane and click on Views, which brings up a separate File Statistics pane.

Yeah I meant for sideloading. Apps which are not present in the store but there are available in MSIX format from the ISVs. The end goal is to know whether an application source media is already available in MSIX (from Store or directly as an independent MSIX download from the ISV). Before going ahead and trying to repackage existing software into MSIX, this would be a handy option.

What is the end purpose of the portal? If you want to see if the vendor of apps (I assume) you want to deploy in the enterprise has an MSIX available, can't you check that directly?

Do you want to see how many of the apps from your enterprise are are already packaged as MSIX or....?

Currently, there is a limited list of Windows settings that can follow the user wherever they login to a Windows 10 device (if allowed by the admin) through Enterprise State Roaming. These are listed in documentation, but also below.

The ask is to add "User-selected Universal Printers" as part of the roamable settings.

Theme: desktop background, user tile, taskbar position, etc.
Internet Explorer Settings: browsing history, typed URLs, favorites, etc.
Passwords: Windows credential manager, including Wi-Fi profiles
Language Preferences: spelling dictionary, system language settings
Ease of Access: narrator, on-screen keyboard, magnifier
Other Windows Settings: see Windows Settings details
Microsoft Edge browser setting: Microsoft Edge favorites, reading list, and other settings

I previously used the meeting recording feature of Teams, and then downloaded the MP4 from Stream, sharing it in OneDrive. I have now migrated to New Stream which automatically saves to OneDrive/SharePoint. This meets my need to share meeting recordings with guests, though it was not easy to get there, and involved several steps. Nevertheless, I am pleased with the results.

Enable Anonymous Sharing in SharePoint Online

Most of our recorded meetings occur in a specific channel, so the first thing I did was to enable unauthenticated users to access files in that channel via a link. Prior to this time, I still created a link, but it required assigning it to an email address. In SharePoint, allowing unauthenticated users to access via a link is a two-step process, and requires administrator access.

First you need to allow it in your SharePoint tenant.
Then you may need to enable it in a specific group.

To allow it in your tenant, you must

Login as an administrator
Goto your Microsoft 365 Admin Center
Under additional Admin centers, select SharePoint
In the SharePoint Admin Center, select Policies > Sharing
Under External Sharing, select "Most Permissive/Anyone"

Under "Advanced Settings" you can also set an expiration date for the link if you wish, along with whatever other settings you choose.

To Enable/Disable It in a Specific Group

Depending on how you are setup, you may need to enable or disable "Anyone with the link" sharing in your specific group.
While still in the SharePoint Admin center select Sites > Active sites
Select the active site you want to enable or disable sharing in by clicking to the left of the active site; that will add a checkmark next to it.
Up at the top of the page, click on "Sharing," and make any changes you wish to for the site.
I suggest you select your default sharing link type as "Specific People" unless by default you want everything to be anonymous. By setting it to Specific People you need to include their email address when you create a sharing link. But you can change this link type to Anonymous at the time if you wish.

Enable New Stream Saving to OneDrive/SharePoint

This was more complicated, and in our case required modifying some tenant settings using PowerShell, so I point you to this article...

We jumped through some hoops to take advantage of rolling-out functions immediately. It was worth it for us, and I appreciate the Stream team making the changes that needed to be made to make New Stream more functional for users.

Describing this as "absurd" is the most gentle and kind thing way to put it. It is beyond imagination that this isn't live, and a burning fire at Microsoft.

We do live streaming courses and had to implement this with IBM Watson, while we have multiple terabytes of video courses sitting on SharePoint. https://starweaver.com We aren't suggesting this is free (for those outside our organization), but it is critical to be able to share streaming videos for us, and almost everyone else.

We have a need to print from different printer trays. We would like to setup one print queue to print from Tray 2 and another to print from tray 3.

We can't currently do this.

It's also a safeguarding issue we have a number of schools on the same tenancy who share videos with the entire organization unaware they are sharing with other schools. The biggest issue is the the videos appear under discover videos, if this didn't happen and even though it was shared someone would have to be sent the link to know it exisited. We've tried to educate users but it is still a daily task to go into discover videos and in admin mode remove the tick from a handful of videos everyday.

"showinfo=false" not working in Microsoft Streams embed code

The Show info option to off in the embed code does not work. When switched off, the code generator updates to "showinfo=false". However when the iframe embed code is copied to another site, the overlay of the title, likes, plays and add to watchlist, etc is still visible.

The embed code is (where #### represents the video ID) : <iframe width="853" height="480" src="https://web.microsoftstream.com/embed/video/####?autoplay=false&showinfo=false" allowfullscreen style="border:none;"></iframe>

Is there a work around to hide this video info? Or can Microsoft please update this so that it works?

This is absurd. Sharing a video with an external guest (like a client) is an absolutely essential capability for a video streaming platform. I can't believe this feature wasn't implemented with the very first release of Microsoft Stream.

The way a user can bring up the "Search Universal Print for Printers" dialog box is not the easiest for non technical users. (devices > printers > add printer > wait > Click search universal print button)

If we could have a ms-setting: shotcut directly to the "Search Universal Print for Printers". We could add this to a users start menu or desktop.

We are using 360° videos as a part of the lerning program.
At the moment we are forced to upload to YouTube which is definitely not our preferred method inregards o privacy etc.
We are heavily invested in Office 365.
It would be great if Microsoft Stream would include that ability.

I am emailing from a school. We like being able to record meetings to support pupils who can't access the live lesson. However, it concerns me that this can be downloaded by anybody afterwards. Please can it be set up so that it converts the video to a link which can only be viewed and not downloaded by anyone but the host?

This causes safeguarding concerns for us.

Trimming video from the middle is highly needed because some mistakes happens during the meeting or during the live events or some words which is not suitable while teaching students, other students can catch those words from the recording and they started to repeat it.
Also during live events sometimes the presenters doing mistakes in sharing wrong videos pictures or presentation that needs to be removed from the middle of the recorded video to be able to publish a clean version of the recorded video.

It would be helpful if the download of transcripts were readily available from OneDrive/SharePoint - seems this is not available.
It would be helpful if it were easier to transcribe the transcript from vtt format into Word, using the Microsoft Vtt file cleaner is public domain and not able to use where the files are secure/sensitive. I cannot find any information on how secure the Microsoft VTT FIle Cleaner is, we have a lot of sensitive data.

Stream from Sharepoint/OneDrive via Stream

I don't mind the videos are now placed somewhere else but it would be nice to point to that file from Stream and enable a link to it instead of uploading the recording to Stream for it to just place it some other place in Sharepoint and probably taking up double the space.

Since Stream doesn't get any new recordings people have no idea what videos are made and where they are. Stream was our portal and index of video content. For new employees needing to see something or for people coming back from time off and seeing what content was made since last.

Unless of course a new kind of portal / index of videos exists.

Scanning with such a solution would be great! Scanning (send to mail), is the only reason I still need basic authentication and can't switch to modern auth only!

Seem to be the very basic need to sort video in a sequence...we have series of sessions and want people to watch it in the same sequence to maintain the continue.

You can make a folder in the app drawer. Long press and app ---> Select & select as many icons you want ---> tap on folder icon on top. All those apps will be moved to the newly created folder away from your eyes.

Your employees can see Org Chart in Teams or from People cards in various places. I think you have to use Azure and update your org chart in Azure. I don't know if i am on point with your question...

Another upvote for this, especially now I am uploading 2hr lecture recordings. I'm not sure of the cost implications to my institutions in terms of the unnecessary traffic but it seems like we are paying for the same thing twice and wasting a bunch of time in the process.

I would LOVE this. It's pretty much the only thing keeping me from using Microsoft Launcher exclusively. I've got about 100 games installed on my phone, but don't need them most of the time. I'd love to be able to swipe to different categories, so the games are out of my way for everyday use.

Translating transcripts on Stream

The ability to translate a live conversation is already available, so is the ability to translate an Office document, the ability to transcribe a video uploaded into streams is already available. However, if the video is in another language and I am looking to have the transcribed captions translated I am unable to do so. I have tried a work around by playing the video on the live conversation translation tool and the results are not optimal but it seems like this could be make possible by analyzing the written text vs the "second hand" audio text.

I like the idea of setting a 'retention policy' on videos at the time of upload.

Corporate comms can be long-lived, ad-hoc Teams recordings are usually ephemeral.

Has a feature update been deployed or something else changed as I can now see the ability to change quality on videos? Older videos don't seem to have this option but some more recent videos that are uploaded or recorded from Teams meetings seem to?

We take interviews through Teams now. Having the transcript downloaded/converted into Word would be a valuable tool and time saver.

Definitely would be good to be able to edit out the dead space when people are in breakout rooms. I had one person who didn't join a room and then sat and talked to himself. This was all caught on video and now I can't use the video at work, because he is stuck in the middle of it. I would love to be able to edit that section out.

Hi,

My 5 year old son is home learning due to coronavirus lockdowns. His teachers have recorded lessons which he accesses via OneNote and then Stream to watch the videos. The teacher frequently asks him to "Pause the video now whilst you go get your colours (etc)". He then fumbles to pause whilst the video invariably continues to play, then we have to back track 10 seconds and play again. It's just a bit clumsy.

My idea is to give the teacher the ability to insert a Pause tag / breakpoint into the video. Stream would then encounter this tag and pause the video automatically. My son can then press play again when he's ready. A similar effect could be achieved if the teacher recorded multiple recordings and then each video ended, (like chapters?), but this is asking a lot more overhead from the teachers who are could be challenged by this all already and have limited video editing skills. I have no idea what goes into the creation of these videos, what format they are or whether inserting tags is even remotely possible! :)

If at all possible though it would make Stream a slightly better tool for education, which is what we're using it for.

When my home screen is rotated into the horizontal orientation, it tries to mash the widgets and apps into the same layout as in portrait. I would love to be able to reposition everything while in landscape without affecting my normal layout.
