I have just realized that recently you published this update Use OneDrive for Business and SharePoint for meeting recordings - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Docs which is unfortunately making life harder for all people which are regularly publishing content on MS Stream as we will need to record video and then upload to Stream. People which are recording WWC calls, regular readiness videos or anything else would appreciate option to select where you want to store your videos as per Default.

Are you planning this or is it already in the release?

Printer name instead of printer ID in reports

It would be a good idea to allow the report to view the printer by name instead of printerId. Useful information would also be the amount of pages printed and the size of the paper on which it is printed out.

Please provide a 0.7 playback speed.

I teach learners who are deaf or hard of hearing and use Stream to caption their mainstream teachers' videos. It's a great resource. When we are watching quite technical demonstration videos on YouTube, we set playback speed to 0.7 which means we can watch what's happening in the picture and have enough time to read the captions. The 0.5 playback speed you have on Stream is too slow. They get fed up and lose focus.

Videos recorded by a public team are labeled as "Restricted" but they are available to all accounts, which sometimes causes a trouble with confused users.
(It is not that they are confused about the distinction between public and private.)
To eliminate user confusion, please use easier-to-understand labels such as "Unrestricted" for videos that are virtually unrestricted or "Available" for those that are recorded by a public team.

Regarding Microsoft Stream administrative rights

But this permission does not allow access to Microsoft Stream administration screen. On the other hand, with this permission granted, they can modify various settings, which we would like to avoid. Currently, there is a limited list of Windows settings that can follow the user wherever they login to a Windows 10 device (if allowed by the admin) through Enterprise State Roaming. These are listed in documentation, but also below.

The ask is to add "User-selected Universal Printers" as part of the roamable settings.

Theme: desktop background, user tile, taskbar position, etc.
Internet Explorer Settings: browsing history, typed URLs, favorites, etc.
Passwords: Windows credential manager, including Wi-Fi profiles

"showinfo=false" not working in Microsoft Streams embed code

The Show info option to off in the embed code does not work. When switched off, the code generator updates to "showinfo=false". However when the iframe embed code is copied to another site, the overlay of the title, likes, plays and add to watchlist, etc is still visible.

Is there a work around to hide this video info? Or can Microsoft please update this so that it works?

ms-settings: shortcut to "Search Universal Print for Printers"

If we could have a ms-setting: shotcut directly to the "Search Universal Print for Printers". We could add this to a users start menu or desktop.

It would be helpful if it were easier to transcribe the transcript from vtt format into Word, using the Microsoft Vtt file cleaner is public domain and not able to use where the files are secure/sensitive. I cannot find any information on how secure the Microsoft VTT FIle Cleaner is, we have a lot of sensitive data.

Stream from Sharepoint/OneDrive via Stream

I don't mind the videos are now placed somewhere else but it would be nice to point to that file from Stream and enable a link to it instead of uploading the recording to Stream for it to just place it some other place in Sharepoint and probably taking up double the space.

Since Stream doesn't get any new recordings people have no idea what videos are made and where they are. Stream was our portal and index of video content. For new employees needing to see something or for people coming back from time off and seeing what content was made since last.

Unless of course a new kind of portal / index of videos exists.

Translating transcripts on Stream

The ability to translate a live conversation is already available, so is the ability to translate an Office document, the ability to transcribe a video uploaded into streams is already available. However, if the video is in another language and I am looking to have the transcribed captions translated I am unable to do so. I have tried a work around by playing the video on the live conversation translation tool and the results are not optimal but it seems like this could be make possible by analyzing the written text vs the "second hand" audio text.

Hi,

My 5 year old son is home learning due to coronavirus lockdowns. His teachers have recorded lessons which he accesses via OneNote and then Stream to watch the videos. The teacher frequently asks him to "Pause the video now whilst you go get your colours (etc)". He then fumbles to pause whilst the video invariably continues to play, then we have to back track 10 seconds and play again. It's just a bit clumsy.

My idea is to give the teacher the ability to insert a Pause tag / breakpoint into the video. Stream would then encounter this tag and pause the video automatically. My son can then press play again when he's ready. A similar effect could be achieved if the teacher recorded multiple recordings and then each video ended, (like chapters?), but this is asking a lot more overhead from the teachers who are could be challenged by this all already and have limited video editing skills. I have no idea what goes into the creation of these videos, what format they are or whether inserting tags is even remotely possible! :)

If at all possible though it would make Stream a slightly better tool for education, which is what we're using it for.

Video organisation is limited to OR searching at present. In a large organisation it is difficult to tag items so that people can find what they want with a single tag search. Mutiple tag searches produce even more hits. If seaching could be #tag1 AND #tag2 it would be possible, for example, to search by department and subject tags to narrow down the results.

Ideally it would be possible to provide a URL link to enable posting a message that pulls up a filtered list.

しかし現状では、Azure Active Directory から完全に削除されたユーザーを Microsoft Stream から削除した場合であっても、当該ユーザーがアップロードした動画は自動的には削除されない動作となっている。

メッセージと実際の動作に齟齬があり運用に支障をきたすため、当該メッセージを修正するか、メッセージどおり Microsoft Stream からユーザーを削除すれば当該ユーザーがアップロードした動画が自動的に削除されるようにしてほしい。

When removing a user from Stream, the message “If you select “Delete” everything belonging to this user will be removed from Microsoft Stream. This action cannot be undone” is displayed.

However currently, even if a user who has been completely removed from Azure Active Directory is also removed from Stream, that user’s uploaded videos are not automatically deleted.

Since there is a discrepancy between the message content and the actual behavior, please either fix the message, or make it so that removed users’ content is also displayed as the message suggests.

Ability to Filter Videos in Reverse Order

I teach a class and host the videos on MS Stream. Because Upload Date is an unreliable sorting factor, I've named my videos in order upon requests made by my students. However, now they cannot sort easily by title. They get all the videos in the course and have to scroll down every time. They cannot search for something like "Week 2" because that just returns every single video.

I am hosting my course materials on MS Stream, and I wish I could make the videos more easily navigable for students by organizing them into weeks, or topics, etc. Right now they just go in one big pile that is technically sortable by things like upload date, but sometimes smaller videos get uploaded sooner than bigger ones in a batch and that mixes up the order. Overall, having videos in one big pile only is quite inconvenient.

YouTube has playlists and that seems to work.

I had a student request that I title and organize my videos in a clearer and easier-to-sort way, and he was right so I went to do it. But in MS Stream, you can edit a video, apply, then you get taken to the video you just changed the title of (I guess to "see the title in action"...?), and then I go back to videos, then expand the list all the way to the bottom, then edit another, and then...

It is a profoundly inconvenient loop and I am going to repeat it for >20 videos.

Regarding Extensions in Schemas

I am grateful to see the response to the previous query looking for guidance on implementing Extensions in the AppXManifest, namely Extensions in the package manifest schema - Windows UWP applications | Microsoft Docs.

The concept of separation of app specific extensions versus package-level (applying to all apps in the package) might need a bit of tweaking, and thus tweaking of the supported element lists in that documentation.

While multi-application packages are one reason for package level extensions, another is package extensions that are (or could be) unrelated to a specific application. A key example would be in-process com extensions that are intended for applications outside of the package. Currently all com extensions must be placed under an Applications/Extension, and there is support for in-process COM dlls to be added as a Surrogate in the manifest, at least from a validation standpoint but they don't work. Shell Extensions are an example of this, where the explorer.exe process should integrate them

into the explorer process, but publishing in-process shell extensions for consumption by other application level processes not in the package has been traditionally supported.

So I believe the list of package level extensions should be extended, starting with the shell extensions. However, it is possible that Microsoft wants to support the concept of shell extensions without adding them directly into the explorer.exe process (for security issues). Which is OK, as long as we can get support for traditional shell extensions. In computing, it is really all about the data and end-users don't always start with the app, but the data file. Integrated shell commands are not enough, and shell extensions have been a long-standing solution. While some shell extensions have been migrated to independent Manifest elements for support, most have not. I believe Microsoft has some work to do here, and a roadmap (even without dates and just saying this is in or out of scope) will be helpful to developers WANTING to move their existing applications to MSIX.

Support M365 Groups/Teams for Access Control

In cloud-only environments, there are no servers on-premise or always-on PCs to install the connector, and having to use a dedicated Windows computer provides a larger attack surface. Live Streaming Tools for Broadcasts (not meetings)

I manage Broadcast studios across 18+ schools where our students present a "News Show" broadcast each morning for their fellow classmates. We used to broadcast to an on prem AWS Flash Server which was replaced with MS Stream after the announcements of Flash being shut down.

All of these studios have professional grade equipment such as capture cards, cameras, lights, analog audio mixers, and small green screen studios. We use Wirecast, currently, to broadcast to the clunky ingest system in MS Stream now.

Moving forward with the new Stream I would like to make sure that my studios will still be able to do this and it would be great to see it improved upon to make it simpler on these users.

MS Stream livestreaming should remain. Platforms like YouTube, Twitch, Facebook Live/Gaming, and previously Mixer were not applicable in use for professional or educational environments primarily due to their public face. MS Stream allowed us to utilize a similar service while keeping the content internal to our systems. This is an absolute must have.
MS Stream livestreaming is currently clunky and unintuitive with the requirement of a new event and ingest URL each broadcast. The permissions system the Group and Channels... all of it was clunky and not intuitive to high level tech users that manage our prebuilt studios. While they have a lot of professional equipment they only use it, and rarely troubleshoot or modify on their own.
MS Stream should have a format using a single ingest URL per channel and be structured much like the public facing products it resembles. The Permissions system sounds like it will use the organizations Sharepoint management which will be a vast improvement already.
MS Stream must support 3rd party tools such as XSplit, OBS, Wirecast or any other capture and production software. If you are expecting everyone to use Teams Meetings to do live events then you will need to drastically improve the features to do so. Look at the feature sets in any of the listed 3rd parties and you will understand that layering overlays, captures, proper green screen filters, audio filters, and so much more is just not possible in a standard Teams environment.
MS could consider building a basic feature Stream Broadcaster software that supported the necessities. I would be open to discussing with the team what our studios specifically use if this is something MS is even remotely interested in offering through their O365 suite.

I know this was a lot, but I had to dump everything in one submission to ensure it was all covered. I'm digging through other posts and upvoting what is relevant to me. I look forward to seeing what MS Stream will become and I certainly hope the product doesn't become useless to my studios.

Hi, it seems to me that it would be a great idea to allow the ability to stop the video on the timeline if a "question form" was added. Example, video of 4 mins shows and tells information and a question form is added at 2.30mins in, the video stops, the user answers the question, then views the rest of the video. This would be excellent for my students to test them on knowledge as they progress through videos.

At the moment the video brings up an option to view the question but this is quite fleeting and many students will just ignore it.

I like the new feature of being able to just record Camera in Stream (rather than recording screen + camera). One of my team suggested it would be good if this could be combined with the virtual background capability from Teams to blur or replace backgrounds in these recordings.

Cut to the chase by sharing your Microsoft Stream video at a specific point

It'd be cool to create a link that snips an existing Microsoft Stream recording so that snipped version can be embedded as a shorter video in websites, onenote and teams. Improve Transcript scrolling behavior

I have observed the transcript not scrolling smoothly in one direction - it jumps down and up occasionally making it very hard to follow your position in the transcript. It should always only scroll smoothly in small increments in one direction. I think it would also help to highlight the very sentence being spoken rather than all past sentences that have been spoken. notice in the attached video the sentence "me to a paper on something called Fabrizio and you are a" scrolls upwards but at around 13 seconds into the video it jumps back downwards before scrolling up again. These reverse jumps are command and makes reading the transcript almost impossible.

Is there any way to correct caption timings in Stream without downloading and fixing the file off-line? I can edit caption text without issue in the editor, but haven't found a way to change the timings without downloading the caption file and either estimating the timestamps by hand or using yet another product to help fix it.

We are trying to promote the use of MS products, including Stream, but correct caption timing is necessary for accessibility. Hand-correcting the timing off-line is labor-intensive vs. using YouTube or other services.

Status of Shell Extensions like Context Menus

Shell Extensions, such as Context Menu Handlers have been sought after in MSIX for quite a while. While the Microsoft MSIX Packaging Tool does not support them (today), there is plenty of evidence from Microsoft that they should be possible.

In particular, I point to the following article:

which shows an example. (The example is clearly incorrect, as the Application element required an Id attribute and VisualElements subnode. While an older example, it is not deprecated and it is not uncommon for desktop bridge documentation to be referenced for MSIX, even if not perfect. Even through shell extensions don't necessarily tie to an exe inside the package when implemented as an in-process com object in the file explorer, we can usually find an application in the package to leverage to overcome this).

It does not seem possible to get this example (nor any other) to work. Can we get some feedback on the status of shell extensions? Is it that:

There are gaps in the documentation that need addressing but they work if specified correctly.
It is supposed to be working, but there are bugs in the implementation (AppInstaller and or runtime) that need fixing.
Microsoft is still working on a complete implementation and customers should be patient.
Microsoft has decided not to support the functionality going forward.

As of now, we can back up the camera roll to OneDrive. However, the app is not that intuitive to organize the photos. What is the OneDrive road map toward it? Now, either individuals or enterprises are going towards mobile and cloud-based services. However, the OneDrive more on enterprise and business, Microsoft has an equal number of Personal 0365 users using this service. The following services would really help towards improving the personal 0365 user experience. Otherwise, though we have a 0365 subscription, we end up opting for other cloud photos backup services. The photos' end is significantly important for personal users, and it's not about backing up the photos. It is all about how the services help the user by using ML, algorithm-based, to remind the photos backed up.

The app should have a story kind of interface to bring up any photos on the same day.

Microsoft Stream にアップロードされている動画をダウンロードするときに、現在はファイル形式を選択することができない。

動画ごとにファイル形式が異なると、別途再生用アプリケーションの導入を検討せざるを得ないことになる。

ダウンロード時にファイル形式をユーザーが変更できる機能の提供を希望します。

It is not possible to change the file format when downloading videos that have been uploaded to Stream.

If the format differs from video to video, you have to consider using different apps to play them.

Please make it possible for users to choose the format when downloading videos.

公開情報には、1～2 時間との記載があるため、想定以上に時間を要してる状況です。

Microsoft 365 グループが Stream に反映されるまでの時間を短縮してください。

Created Microsoft 365 groups from SharePoint Online take several days before they are reflected in Stream groups.

It says this takes 1~2 hours in publicly available information, but it actually takes more time than anticipated.

Please shorten the time taken for this to happen.

For 'Update video details' view, make 'Cancel' and 'Apply' buttons always appear

When sharing access to Stream videos with specific users, adding new users in the 'Permissions' area doesn't share the content...the user still has to click 'Apply.' If the user scrolls down on the page, the 'Cancel' and 'Apply' buttons become hidden. Consider making these buttons always appear at the top of the page (similar to a frozen row in Excel) and/or relocating the 'Apply' button (possibly below the 'Details' and 'Permissions' areas) for a more intuitive UI across device types and screen sizes.

Assign Printer based on Known Locations - Printer Properties and Named locations

Endpoint Manager has a "Named Locations" node in the Conditional Access blade. UP printers have location fields in the properties. Is there a way to sync those two things so that printers can be part of a location? Ultimately, devices would dynamically be assigned printers when they are in a particular subnet. That way it allows traveling users to always have them assigned, and prevents Admins from having to assign a list of printers to each user every time they might be in a different location.

Add Folders to Stream Channels

I've started up an "Analytics University" training program at my company and right now, I'm doing a series on R. However, I intend to also do a series on Power BI, a series on Python, etc. I've shared the recordings with a channel I've created within Stream which I've then replicated as a tab within our Teams channel. However, I'd like the ability to create an "R Series" folder within the Stream channel to keep the videos more organized and avoiding add so many tabs in the Teams channel. I also really like the idea of creating playlists (already upvoted!) to determine the order of the videos or provide a recommended viewing order for the videos within a folder - I think that idea plays very well with this folder idea.

If it's less of a hassle to instead allow a Stream group to be shared as a channel tab via Teams, then that helps me out, too! But from other ideas posted, I think adding a folder hierarchy within a Stream Channel would be most beneficial.

Microsoft Stream では Internet Explorer 11 をサポートしていないなど、Microsoft 365 の各アプリケーションによってブラウザーの対応状況が異なる場合、注記を付加したり当該公開情報のリンクを追加したりするなどしてほしい。

There are differences from application to application within Microsoft 365 in which browsers are supported. For example, Stream does not support Internet Explorer 11. In these cases, please add links to publicly available information detailing these matters.

Customer Information in Bookings Group Meetings

It seems that the Outlook appointment for group meetings does not get the details from all customers. Our staff are reporting that it is very cumbersome (way too many clicks) go into each customer record to get their information so that they can add notes in our system or to send out follow up emails. Please bring everyone's info into the Outlook appointment and/or perhaps expose it on one page in Bookings calendar.

他のプレイヤーで字幕付きの動画として再生することが可能なように、字幕付きの動画としてダウンロードする機能の拡充を希望いたします。

Downloading subtitled videos on Stream does not download them with the subtitles, so playing the file in another player will not show the subtitles.

Please make it possible to download videos with subtitles so that those subtitles can be seen in other players.

Use Windows Proxy Settings

Our enterprise network resides behind secure firewalls. Windows universal print client tries to connect to azure servers directly and is blocked.

After some testing with "netsh winhttp set proxy proxy-server=" we can force and set up printers through the proxy. However this is a low level global settings we don't want to roll out enterprise wide to all our workstations.

Please make Windows Universal Print client use/accept standard windows proxy settings. (or at least have an option to do so)

It would be nice of we can print with a chromebook to the cloud printer in Azure.
