When creating a Unified Group through a request send to Graph, it is not possible to manipulate the domain part of the primarySMTP address.

In our tenant we have multiple domains and each domain has to have there own groups. Sticking to one default domainname is not enough.

Specifing an alternative domain is possible with the Exchangeonline powershell module so why would it not be available to Graph!

At this moment (sept 2021) it's not possible to configure, applying a OneNote, Planner, etc. to these tabs without users interaction, the (built-in and custom) added Teams tabs via Graph calls.

We can apply a tenant template with a script and graph calls where we can create both a Teams with the different tabs, but it is missing to do the tab configuration via Graph. This is a bad user experience because these Graph-added tabs will need to be configured by the channels' users on their first use.

Request: can you also make the configuration (applying a OneNote, Planner, etc. to these tabs without users interaction) of the tabs by Graph calls?

I need to create a console app that shares folders in sharepoint to external guests, however,

one of my requirements is that the files and folders that get shared should not get downloaded - only viewed - therefore when creating a link with the graph api I can set blocksDownload.

But later down the line I can't invite users with this link - would be great to extend the API so that at least the blocksDownload flag can be passed.

By the way - first I was thinking that the issue is only part of the msgraph.net sdk (therefore my issue over there: https://github.com/microsoftgraph/msgraph-sdk-dotnet/issues/1134)

One should be able to pass -

It would also make most sense to have -

Replicate the "copy plan" functionality in Graph API

MSGraph doesn't appear to provide an equivalent property on the user object.

This property is particularly useful (for me, anyway) where you have shared mailboxes not requiring a license. Sometimes, following migration LicenseReconciliationNeeded is set to $true and we need to assign & then remove a license to clear the flag so that the mailbox isn't removed after 30 days.

Trying to write a useful add-in for Outlook is excessively limited, owing to a large number of important bits of user context not being accessible to us.

When a user installs our Add-in they're wanting to use new features that we build for them, applied into the current email they are composing. This means that our Add-in should be able to read everything about that email they are composing, so it can do its job properly:

It would be useful if the following could be included added:-

getAttachmentContentAsync for *all* the users attachments (not just appointments/etc)

In the soon retired Office 365 Communications API, you had access to the list of features (and their status) of a single service (i.e from "Exchange Online" you got also the List "Backend Data Processing", "Networking Issues", "Sign-in", and so on...).

In the graph replacement for this API, there is no way to get the list of features of a service yet.

We used the old API to get a detailed view of the microsoft service landscape to inform our users if a problem occurs. Now we cannot do this anymore

My proposal:

Details:

Looking through the graph api and I can list appointments with the start time and end time in the calendar's time-zone.

I need to be able to know a calendar's time-zone before I book an appointment through our app. Our app supports many calendars and each may be in different timezones.

I would expect to find timezone to be in the bookingBusinesses/{id} resource.

The work around I have is to look up an appointment and if there are no appointments, then create one. Seems like expensive overhead and the parent bookingsBusinesses object should hold that information.

Include Teams Status in Graph Presence API

Standard way to unit test and mock office-js API

Currently, there is no documentation or any model to follow about unit testing and mocking with Office-js. Using standards approaches like Sinon or Jest proves challenging because office-js API needs to be loaded by an HTML file, making the API not available beforehand.

This issue also increases because some test APIs may require the entire object to be mocked, which can have more than 100 properties, making it not feasible.

There is also the issue of making the tests preserve the order of functions load or sync, which are very common to occur in the development and are difficult to test because stateless test APIs do not support easily adding state variables to handle those functions.

Having an easy and common approach, with an explanation of how to use it, would solve these problems, thus making unit testing/mocking office-js a quicker and easier experience.

Need to be able to create Channel-based Teams meetings / or at least be able to link Graph-created regular Teams meetings with a Channel's calendar. Unfortunately, neither of these scenarios are possible through the Graph API. Channel calendaring is currently only a feature available to Teams as a client and has no publicly available APIs to integrate with it.

What is needed is a way to write/update the JoinURL of the Channel Calendar. The teams client does this but there is no API to do this using Graph API.

We are creating a lot of groups through the Graph API, this works perfectly, but we can only specify the mailNickname meaning it will pick the default domain configured for that tenant. Since we are using application permissions we cannot use the Microsoft 365 groups naming policies. and we don't know if they would even be considered when using the Graph API.

In one sentence we would like to be able to set the used domain upon group creation, or have a way to change the domain for existing groups. The way this works with users seems reasonable.

Being able to group groups in a specific domain seems like a reasonable request, especially if tenants grow larger.

We tried the following actions:

Just send an update with the mail property (ignoring the fact that the mail property is read-only as stated here. (fails with bad request)
Add the mail property to the create request. (fails with bad request)
Extracting a token from the browser and mimicking the same calls as the admin portal does (works, but we don't want to rely on internal api's that might change soon)

At the moment we have 2 ways of achieving what we need "create groups with a domain different from the default":

Change the default domain right before the group creation (highly likely to fail, but works)
Request application access to the entire Exchange environment, and run a powershell to change the groups (we don't want access to all users emails just to change a domain on groups, and we also don't want to implement some powershell script to a different service just to change domains).

Bookings Graph API - Missing customer info for service with multiple bookings

If Calendar service is configured to allow multiple customer to book for a service slot (e.g. workshop), it is currently impossible to obtain the customer list from Graph API for Bookings, Calendar or Events.

Without the ability to obtain this info through Graph API, automation through Power Automate will be impossible.

It is not feasible to expect booking service administrator to export the data file manually everyday to perform back desk processing. Please include this enhancement soon or we will be forced to move out of Ms Booking.

Forwarded emails informations aren't displayed if you weren't a recipient in the first place

In Outlook, if someone forwards to you an email/email conversation in which you didn't take part, you cannot see information through Microsoft Graph on the older emails, instead, you only get this email when you ask for every emails of the conversation.

It is particularly weird since as the email is forwarded to you, you have access to all informations in the body...

I have tried with Mail.Read and Mail.Read.Shared and none of them seems to be enough permission to see it. I don't know if there is currently a way to get these emails, please advise.

When getting events through the /me/calendarview/delta endpoint, it is possible to specify both a startDateTime and endDateTime parameter. Irritatingly, the endDateTime parameter is not supported by the /me/events/delta endpoint.

While this is clearly noted on event: delta - Microsoft Graph beta | Microsoft Docs, it still does not make any sense to me and I feel like /me/events/delta becomes much more useful if the end time could also be specified.

This is especially true because the /me/events/delta does not work if there are more than 200 meetings scheduled.

I think it would be good to have a change notifications for changes to device data. This will help me add my business logic based on notification subscription.

This notification should also notify if a device is unenrolled via Intune company portal (or reported lost/stolen).

removeKey API - Getting 500 error status code, when trying to remove certificate

currently the endpoint for working woth online meetings only support "me" or "users/id". It would be very helpfull if we could use the userPrincipalName eg. "first.last@company.com" as other endpoints do support.

Especially in combination with impersonation and admin consent this would be an awesome feature.

My Add-in can use the EWS and REST endpoints, and both send email fine, and I expect the Graph endpoint will as well (since it's replacing REST which will be retired in Oct 2022)... except I'm not sure under what conditions those endpoints might fail, or which one(s) to use and when (e.g. android(web+app)/apple(web+app)/live.com/office.com(free+paid+corporate)/outlook.exe(pc+mac)/tablets/... and whether or not the customers server in use matters (exchange/SMTP/free/paid/...) ... so yeah... having some way to send that "sorts all that out for us" would be a great idea.

IDEALLY - a way that give us full control over all email headers (including the To: and Cc: which are *independant* of the recipient (e.g. Bcc)) would be perfect. There are many use cases where a multi-party email needs to go to more than 1 person with each person getting a slightly different version (e.g. for forensic purposes, so if one of those parties "leaks" content in violation of policies, the culprit can be identified).

Teams online meeting management improvements

When creating an online meeting through the Graph API (beta) for a team channel, there is no way currently to associate the meeting with an Outlook Calendar event for the group/channel.

Therefore, when starting the channel meeting and recording it, Teams ignores the Subject of the meeting and displays the title 'Meeting in "General"' instead of the subject of the meeting provided via the Graph. The resulting recording is then prefixed with "Meeting in _General_" instead of the name of the meeting created via the API. Presumably because there is no calendar event associated to these online meetings.

This means that users who create Teams meetings through applications using this API will have to rename their meeting recordings for each meeting, which makes it difficult to organize the recordings for each meeting.

It would be nice to have these channel meetings created via the Graph API work more like meetings scheduled form the Team channel as it would drive more adoption of this API and open up possibilities for connected applications to use these features.

I would be nice to have an expiration date on conditional access. Example if someone goes out of the country we give them conditional access to our o365 environment and when they come back we take it away. It would be nice to just set an expiration date for like 2 weeks and not have to worry about it again. Sometimes this is missed and not sure who gave conditional access to who and if it can be taken away.

Currently its impossible to directly find out what SSO settings an Enterprise App (and/or it's Service Principal) has. the best thing I can do is combine tags with properties and draw rough inaccurate conclusions).

Ideally add it to https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/applications/ or maybe the same approach on how Azure App Proxy settings are accessible, in a separate "sso" resource.

Details I look for:

a boolean for "User Assignment required" switch
"Users and Groups" (also mentioned in other suggestions)
Type Of SSO (SAML/Linked/PWD-based/Header-based/WIA/HandledBySP)
read SAML claim rules for applications

Update field functions when converting to PDF

It is possible to embed field functions in Microsoft Word documents, most commonly used is the function to insert the maximum page number.

These fields are usually updated by Word when viewing the document. When a programmatically generated docx file is uploaded and converted to pdf without viewing it, these fields are not evaluated and appear as placeholders in the pdf.

An option to make the graph API update these fields would be very helpful.

Add Keywords and Tags to Outlook/Exchange, and Rule Suggestions

The problem:

People get more and more e-mails. After getting blasted with too many e-mails, they either get sorted or ignored.

E-mails that are ignored don't get acted upon. This wastes time in organizations, not just Microsoft, but out customers. Time is money.

The easy fix:

In Outlook (Desktop app and Outlook Online): Rollout tags and keywords into e-mails as "rectangles with text". Have them visible in the footer of the e-mail.

In Outlook (Desktop app and Outlook Online): Allow tags and keywords to be used in the e-mail sorting rules.

Automatic rule suggestions:

Allow IT organizations & Microsoft to offer suggestion for sorting rules in the header of the e-mail. For example, Yammer notifications, Teams message notifications, Out-of-Office notifications from members of your team, Out-of-Office notifications from non-team members.
By clicking a button "Preview and Add Recommended Rules", the user would review a short list of rule suggestions and decide whether or not to add one of them to Outlook.
An IT organization could curate some rules. The IT organization could allow some e-mails to have rule suggestions offered by Microsoft (the IT organization whitelists which e-mails can receive suggestions - such as whitelisting all e-mails not created by a human being manually, such as all automated e-mails that are non-urgent/non-critical).

EDIT:

This must be a feature that the organization's IT department enables. Until enabled by the organization, any changes to the UI should be completely invisible.
If enabled by the organization, unless the user is part of the users who are enabled to see Keywords and Tags, the UI should remain invisible. This is so pilot deployment can be tested before widespread deployment.
All users should have the ability to hide the changes to the UI in the header and footer, and the user's UI preferences should be saved and respected the next time the user opens their Outlook/Exchange.

It will be very useful if we could add notes in the Admin Center, in the Users menus (Active Users, Contacts, Guests, Deleted Users). For example, it will be very-very-very helpful if we could add notes with a description of what an administrator should do when adds a new user, like adding it in specific groups, forwarding emails or giving read permissions to the mailbox, adding new user's email to email rules in Exchange Admin Center etc, based on user's department, the company policy etc. Just to have some space to add a note is OK. Now it is very hard to remember what we should do when we add a new user to every customer's tenant that we support and easy to forget or mistake (we are partners).

is not helpful when trying to use the /subscribedSku's Graph endpoint to identify products that have been subscribed to in a tenant.

This endpoint should return the friendly name of the product, or Graph should have an endpoint which returns a dictionary of JSON objects with details of each SKU with the SKU ID as dict keys.

Autocomplete for link inside and outside the app

When adding link to a different section or page inside OneNote app I have to use right click and copy the page link in order to past it in whatever page I am working on.

Sometimes you left click by mistake and lose where you are, and in any case not always you find yourself working with all the section open to you left.

It will be much more convenient if there will be an Autocomplete function when using Ctrl+k to add a link. There is already a similar feature in Microsoft Word. The idea is it present a list of all the section with the hierarchies so you can navigate and choose (with the keyboard!) what to link to. Preferably it will also have option to link to a folder from the folder tree of the computer.

Currently OneNote has not caption option for an imported image paste to page. There is however an "Alt Text" option. This option however doesn't show the caption as part of the image object.

I come from an academic background, and it will be very helpful for research related note taking I could add caption and title that will be part of the image object itself. It seems like the Alt Text option check all the right boxes, but there is no option to display the title and caption on the page! pleas make it possible.

Also, please make it fully accessible through key binding (for example in the Alt Text option it is necessary to use the mouse to click "Done", if you could use Ctrl+Enter instead it will be better.

Infinite (nested) subpages hierarchy

Currently OneNote have a 5 layer deep possible hierarchy for a given Notebook:

section group.
section.
page.
subpage (with collapsible option).
sub-subpage (without collapsible option).

I cannot see why not to add infinite nested pages. It will give users the full control of their organization of notes.

Another option is to add a type of page (say "hierarchy page") which allowed to have infinite nesting of pages.

Snap note containers left, right or center

Currently in OneNote app you can move note (text) containers only with you mouse.

It will be more convenient if there's an option of snapping the note container to the left/right or center. It seems like the app work on a grid (moving a container with a mouse you can see it not moving continuously innless Alt is press), so I guess all that is needed is to attach a default behavior to some key bindings of moving the containers around.

What do you think?

Create a tenant configurable option to require all participants of a Teams recording to give consent

If someone starts the recording of a Teams session, it is possible to configure, that this person's consent to the companies policy is required. This policy is shown to the user.

Every other participant just sees a message that recording starts and he agrees to the recording by attending the session. This is not compliant with GDPR.

GDPR requires every participant to give his explicit consent before a recording may start.

Currently it is the responsibilty of the person that starts the recording to get this consent from everyone.

The idea is to create an option (configurable at the tenant level):

Ask every participant for his consent, showing the companies policy (similar to the already implemented case for the Initiator)
If anybody refuses his consent, the recording does not start

Ideally there should be a second option that enforces this procedure for every recording (resetting the consent for every recording).

This would allow to perform GDPR-compliant recordings because no recording would be possible without the explicit consent of every participant

Allow sending emails using proxy address over MS Graph

Allow PDF/A as target for getFileAsync

The Office.context.document.getFileAsync-API already supports PDF export. Unfortunately, the file format is PDF 1.8 whereas we need a PDF/A compatible export. It is possible to specify PDF/A when saving the PDF manually through the "Options" dialog in the Office application. Unfortunately, there is no (documented) way to specify the type of PDF in the getFileAsync-API. It would be great, if the API is expanded so that PDF/A compatibility can be requested as well (either with a new file format flag or as an option in the optional GetFileOptions-object).

Créer des pages à la suite et fluidifier le déroulement des pages. L'organisation des pages est bien dans OneNote mais le fait de cliquer pour changer de pages ne fluidifie pas l'utilisation sur tablette ou mobile.
Lors de l'écriture avec un stylet, éviter que la main interagisse.

Enfin, on pourrait s'inspirer de fonctionnalités venant d'autres applications de prise de notes pour faire évoluer OneNote. Je sais que OneNote présente déjà un certain nombre de fonctionnalités et que celles-ci présentent des avantages. Cependant, j'aimerais contribuer à améliorer OneNote pour la rendre encore plus performante qu'elle ne l'est déjà. Naturellement, ces fonctionnalités ne devraient pas s'imposer à l'utilisateur mais plutôt offrir de nouvelles possibilités et choix.

Je ne revendique pas l'exhaustivité dans la liste des améliorations ou idées que je viens de partager. Celle-ci se complètera sûrement au fil du temps et avec les différents échanges sur le sujet.

Teams delete permission

TL;DR: The Graph needs a specific permission to delete Teams, instead of Group.ReadWrite.All.

A while ago some new Teams specific permissions were introduced to the Graph. Because of this an application can now manage Teams without the Group.ReadWrite.All. Except for one thing.

If the application needs to be able to delete a Team it still needs Group.ReadWrite.All.

Example:

We have an application that manages Teams. The customer doesn't want to give us access to all groups (understandable), but we need to be able to delete Teams. This requires the Group.ReadWrite.All permission, which enables us to list and manager ALL groups within the tenant.

Show us busy in the Calendar on the Public holiday days

Reproducible steps

Register an app in Azure AD with "Sites.Selected" Graph API applications, not delegated, permissions. Ensure the UX app, which is integrated with msgraph-sdk-dotnet, successfully gets access token to this AD app.
Use UX app to get customer's tenant ID to accept this AD app and its permissions (which is the required User.Read, and added Sites.Selected).
Sign in on Graph Explorer under customer's tenant to grant read/write permissions to this AD app. e.g. POST https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/sites/<site-id>/permissions

A document library called "new document library" for the selected site gets created.

This scenario has been reported in the msgraph-sdk-dotnet github repository and they have confirmed this idea has to be done within Graph API so the wrapper can then support it.
