Specify email domain of group in MS Graph

When creating a Unified Group through a request send to Graph, it is not possible to manipulate the domain part of the primarySMTP address.

In our tenant we have multiple domains and each domain has to have there own groups. Sticking to one default domainname is not enough.

Specifing an alternative domain is possible with the Exchangeonline powershell module so why would it not be available to Graph!

Insert PDF into OneNote

I have tried under my own personal account (which I have let my subscription lapse) and also under my school account (which I have full access to Office 365). I have attached a screen shot of the message I receive.

Be able to configure Teams (built-in and custom) tabs with Graph without user interaction on 1st use

At this moment (sept 2021) it's not possible to configure, applying a OneNote, Planner, etc. to these tabs without users interaction, the (built-in and custom) added Teams tabs via Graph calls.

We can apply a tenant template with a script and graph calls where we can create both a Teams with the different tabs, but it is missing to do the tab configuration via Graph. This is a bad user experience because these Graph-added tabs will need to be configured by the channels' users on their first use.

Request: can you also make the configuration (applying a OneNote, Planner, etc. to these tabs without users interaction) of the tabs by Graph calls?

OneNote with both Work and Personal Accounts

I have OneNote for Windows 10 running on my Surface Pro X. It is connected to a work account for a set of notebooks and a personal MS account for another set. However, after a few days it disconnects from the personal account and tells me I need to sign in again to sync.

The problem is, it doesn't give me the ability to sign back into my personal account. See the sign-in screen below and notice how I can't choose a personal account.

The only way I've been able to remedy this is to completely remove all accounts (which removes all sync'd notebooks), re-add both accounts, and re-sync all notebooks. It will then work for a few days and then I will get the "you must sign-in" notice again.

Seems like there are two problems. (1) It keeps kicking me out of my personal account for no apparent reason (requiring me to sign-in), (2) I can't simply re-sign-in to my personal account.

Any ideas?

The Microsoft Onenote for Windows 10 is very limited compared to 2016.

The following is missing:

1. You cannot customise your Ribbon

2. Creating tags is extremely limited as you cannot highlight your custom tags. You can only choose an Icon.

3. They should also let you mention someone in one note like you can with the Excel @mention function.

4. inserting a function where you can Freeze the top row of a table.

4. This version limits you a lot on the options 2016 used to have.

SPMT error

I am trying to use SPMT to upload over 1,000 files and related metadata to my client's SharePoint account. I have all necessary access to the account and my client's internal IT department has been trying to help, but no luck. I keep getting errors with the CSV; I followed the instructions under "How to use SharePoint Migration Tool" but still having issues. The sample file on the website isn't much help to me (I'm not an IT person). Can anyone help explain it to me in layman's terms?

I've attached the the first few lines of the CSV file for reference (row 1 is just for reference, I did remove that before I tried the upload. Thank you.

Future of OneNote - Version Recommendation, Version History

Our company has all users licensed for Windows and Office365 E3. Some users have OneNote App, and some have OneNote for Windows 10, and some have both. It's my understanding (correct me if I'm wrong) that the OneNote app comes with purchased of Office and OneNote for Windows 10 comes free with Windows.

When we open OneNote notebooks from Sharepoint and open them in the browser, the online version looks most like OneNote for Windows 10. Is there any hope of converging all of these options into one supported product? Which version will MS support in the future?

Recently we had an issue with a group using OneNote for Windows 10, and a section from the Notebook seemed to just disappear and has continued to be missing for weeks now. I looked within sharepoint by right mousing on the notebook and there's no version history available to restore as there is with Word/Excel files. I primarily use the OneNote App, and there I have a history tab with a recycle bin and can list recent edits and can look at page history. But in the OneNote for Windows 10 I see no such options.

So with OneNote for Windows 10, is there any way to retrieve previously deleted sections or pages? Generally we are conflicted with what version of OneNote to use but would like to standardize.

What have other companies done?

However there is no trivial way of seeing exactly which domains, recipients or senders have sent these mails. Would be usefull to add such reporting too in the GUI to quickly have an overview of this without having to extract the entire message trace and look for obscure headers.

one of my requirements is that the files and folders that get shared should not get downloaded - only viewed - therefore when creating a link with the graph api I can set blocksDownload.

But later down the line I can't invite users with this link - would be great to extend the API so that at least the blocksDownload flag can be passed.

By the way - first I was thinking that the issue is only part of the msgraph.net sdk (therefore my issue over there: https://github.com/microsoftgraph/msgraph-sdk-dotnet/issues/1134)

Onenote : Importing .onetoc2 into a separate notebook

Hello, my boss posted his .onetoc2 (Table of Contents) to one of our shared drives recently. I clicked on this small file that's only 7 KB in size. After doing that Onenote started to import a TON of data into my existing onenote and after about 5 hours it was still importing data due to the large amount of information he had in it. I cancelled the import because it was making a mess of my existing Onenote. After cancelling it it left a "misplaced sections" at the bottom of onenote and when I was searching my Onenote for key words it would take a lot longer due to all the data from his Onenote. Today I went in and deleted each section by following this. After I removed all the misplaced sections my search results using "CTRL E" is much faster! For some reason I had to manually deleted all the .one files it left behind in AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneNote\16.0\Backup\Misplaced Sections.

So, I wanted to see if I can create a new/separate onenote using his .onetoc2 that will be completely separate from mine so don't have overlapping search results from his notebooks and mine.

Also, I'm using the Thick Client application for my onenote. I would also like to know if I can somehow remove this section that shows up in my Sync. "EMV Training Materials".

I'll probably have to try his import on a slow day since it will take a long time to import all that data.

It seems the Graph API is missing the ability to pin a chatMessage in msft Teams. I do not see a property for "pinned" on this page: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/api/resources/chatmessage?view=graph-rest-1.0#properties
One should be able to pass -
"pinned": True
in the json object for chatMessage creation and updates.
It would also make most sense to have -
"pinned": False
be the default value.

Azure External Identities: how to use Allow List with gmail.com but only allow certain gmails

In Microsoft 365 -> Azure -> External collaboration settings, for the Collaboration Restrictions setting I have it set to "Allow invitations only to the specified domains (most restrictive)".

I now need to add a specific gmail user, (let's say testuser@gmail.com), as a guest to the organization, but in order to do this I need to add "gmail.com" as a whitelisted domain. If I do this, it kind of defeats the purpose of using an allow list since there are millions of gmail.com accounts that exist.

I am wondering if there is a way to specify gmail.com in the allow list, and then create another restriction for all gmail.com emails where the email must be in a list that I specify? So basically I would have a policy that says for all gmail.com users, only allow testuser@gmail.com, otherwise block.

Is this possible via conditional access or other means?

Replicate the "copy plan" functionality in Graph API

Users can quickly and easily copy a Planner Plan using the user interface now. The ability to do the same using the Graph API would be very useful as it's very cumbersome iterating through an existing plan, creating buckets and tasks and reordering them to match a template.

Installing OneDrive for Business on a Mac M1

I was wondering whether anyone has run into issues installing OneDrive for Business on a Mac with the M1chip.

My environment:

Hardware: MacBook Air (M1, 2020)

OS: Big Sur Version 11.6

I logged into my office.com business account; went to my online Onedrive settings and clicked on the Getthe OneDrive apps link which directed me to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/onedrive/download to download the app. (Btw, I also tried downloading the OneDrive app from the app store).

I'm running into issues during the Set Up OneDrive process: I enter my business e-mail address and then click Sign In.
At the next "This email address is used for both OneDrive and OneDrive for Business. Which would like to sign in to first?" prompt, I select Work or School and then nothing.

Has anyone else run into this issue?

Any suggestions as to how I can get OneDrive for Business to work would be greatly appreciated.

Using 365 Personal as a remote contractor

Totally new to MS 365 and trying to support someone else who is also totally new, and in another state! LOL

Lori works for us on a remote assignment with a public school in another state, she works from home. The school uses MS 365 to collaborate and she has access to the online version of MS Word, Excel, etc. through them. However, they told her it’s much more efficient if she has a downloadable copy of MS Office 365 installed on her computer.

She downloaded Microsoft 365 Personal and installed it. She wasn’t able to log into the school’s account; she said because MS 365 was under her personal email address. She tried to change the email address to her address at the school and she wasn’t able to. Thanks for any assistance!

Best practices for use of service accounts

Some devs in the org have done some pretty cool things with Power Platform, Graph etc, but their solutions all run under their own accounts. I'm getting more and more questions now on how we can make these run under a generic service account so that these solutions are not dependent on the dev's account remaining active. Do you guys use service accounts? One account for all solutions? A different account for each solution? How do you license these accounts? Do you give the credentials to devs or is there a way to create a token? Looking for some ideas and best practices. Thanks.

Allow SharePoint tabs in Teams to be pre-configured

Name Resolution Policy Table (NRPT) only active on device tunnel but not user tunnel

Hi there,

We have configured NRPT on our "Always On VPN - UserTunnel" configuration profile in Intune.

Configuring it on the device tunnel is not supported as this article states: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/remote/remote-access/vpn/vpn-device-tunnel-config

However, when I am connected with the device tunnel only and I run the Get-DnsClientNrptPolicy Powershell cmdlet then I see the correct NRPT configuration (which we defined on the user tunnel).

Then when I connect the user tunnel VPN, the device tunnel automatically disconnects and the NRPT configuration disappears (the Get-DnsClientNrptPolicy cmdlet gives no output anymore and desired DNS behaviour doesn't work as expected anymore).

Am I missing something here or is this situation the opposite of what it is supposed to be?

Add LicenseReconciliationNeeded property

MSGraph doesn't appear to provide an equivalent property on the user object.

This property is particularly useful (for me, anyway) where you have shared mailboxes not requiring a license. Sometimes, following migration LicenseReconciliationNeeded is set to $true and we need to assign & then remove a license to clear the flag so that the mailbox isn't removed after 30 days.

I noticed that the ability to snooze messages is absolutely awesome. The problem I seem to always run into is I can't snooze messages until the middle of the week, which seems incredibly silly to me. I would use this as much as snoozing til this Wed. or this Friday.

I know there is an option to select a custom date but I would love to see this more configurable both in o365 as well as the more traditional desktop client.

Hide/Disable some of the Actions within the search capability

I am trying to determine if it is possible (either via policy/registry etc...) to disable/hide some of the Actions offered within some of the Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise search capability. As an organisation when our users are using MS Outlook/Word they are able to enter 'Security' or 'Visual Basic Editor' in the search bar and are presented with an Action which they are able to select. For security reasons we would like to be able to disable these Actions for certain users.

Can anyone advise if this is possible within these apps and if so, how we can go about this? (We also have an on-premise version of Office 2019 which "suffers" from the same vulnerability.)

Sharing a link directly from youtube app iPad into OneNote can reach into one folder hierarchy level

Trying to share a YouTube link from the IPad . However within OneNote my folder structure has 3 levels

mynotebook -> section1 -> mynotebook

however for direct sharing from the iPad YouTube app , I can only share to mynotebook -> section1

It does not allow me to share to a specific notebook within the above folder hierarchy Shown.

And this feature depends on the YouTube application for the iPad, relies on Apple sharing feature as well as possibly Microsoft implementation. I’m speculating at this point.

Can someone from Microsoft highlight what could be going on ?

Remove or reset Organisation

Howdy folks!

After replacing a phone (and assuming erroneously that backing up the phone and Microsoft Authenticator was enough) I am now locked out of my Microsoft organisation.

This organisation ONLY has my account in it, so I can't ask anyone else to reset MFA for me. Due to my company's policies - it has MFA turned on from the start: or perhaps this is a Microsoft policy for domain admins... I use my company email to access it - and on switching Azure contexts - I'm prompted for MFA for the new organisation.

My Azure subscription is associated with this org. I'm happy to delete and remove the organisation if need be (I'd prefer to if it means I can keep the name), but how can I do this without getting in first?

Is there a contact I should use or is there a way to arrange this? I don't mind if it means blowing away any resources I have deployed in Azure.

Trying to write a useful add-in for Outlook is excessively limited, owing to a large number of important bits of user context not being accessible to us.

When a user installs our Add-in they're wanting to use new features that we build for them, applied into the current email they are composing. This means that our Add-in should be able to read everything about that email they are composing, so it can do its job properly:

It would be useful if the following could be included added:-

getAttachmentContentAsync for *all* the users attachments (not just appointments/etc)

Settings: Importance and Sensitivity
Voting and Tracking Options: Delivery-receipts and read receipts
Security: Encryption, digital signing, and labels
Delivery options: reply-to email address, send-delay and expires-after info

In the soon retired Office 365 Communications API, you had access to the list of features (and their status) of a single service (i.e from "Exchange Online" you got also the List "Backend Data Processing", "Networking Issues", "Sign-in", and so on...).

In the graph replacement for this API, there is no way to get the list of features of a service yet.

We used the old API to get a detailed view of the microsoft service landscape to inform our users if a problem occurs. Now we cannot do this anymore

My proposal:

Please add the list of service feature status to the API again (perhaps also via an $expand parameter)

Can’t find OneNote document on Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+.

Hi everybody,
Today, my boss was unable to synchronize the OneNote document he created with his Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ (Android). We tried to force sync, but it was useless (an exclamation point was on the icon file). After that, I read a Microsoft notice who suggested to disconnect and connect again from OneNote. That’s what we did. After that, the OneNote document totally dissapeared. We tried to find it in OneDrive, we looked the delete pages in OneNote, we even browsed the files of the Samsung Galaxy tab. Its seems that this document is nowhere… Do you know what else we can do?

Add "CC" field to Mail Merge

Could you please add "cc" functionality to Mail Merge or allow to enter few email addresses in the "to" field.

The work around of creating a rule in Outlook to get "cc" field does not solve the issue, as 'cc' email addresses need to be different for each email.

Reader View in OneNote 10

Why did Microsoft remove the different views (Normal View, Reader View, and Web View) in OneNote 10 that was available in previous versions? It's annoying when some of the features are discarded or made complicated to restore those settings.

One of the thread says to click View > Reader View. But, when I click View, I don't see such an option.

The premise is that OneNote - whatever Windows, Android or iOS device you're using - quickly saves any changes and stores them centrally in the cloud.

This mode is undoubtedly comfortable, but as with all conveniences there is a downside:

If by accident, or by mistake, I overwrite important data, such as a password, without my being able to remember or rebuild it, or if the cat walks on the keyboard, the new typing replaces the existing one that is lost forever.

The question: is there any way to recover the newly overwritten data?

Alternatively, is it possible to disable auto save on any version of OneNote (Windows, Android, iOS) and replace it with a manual save button?

Outlook Attachment Printing

New to this community so not sure if this is the right thread to use.

Have a new WIN10 PC with a clean install of Office 365. Outlook is setup with an O365 email account. Printing works normally thru all apps/installs with the exception of printing an email attachment. When I open an attachment and choose to print it the first printer in the list appears; not the default printer. In fact the default printer doesn't even show as an option. I can open the email and print it normally but the error happens when I try to print the included attachment. The type of attachment doesn't appear to be the issue; i.e. word, excel, pdf, etc. I have done quick and full Office repairs, changed default printer, restored to let Windows manage my printers and the returned to choosing my own default, tried multiple different emails always with the same result. I plan on doing a complete manual Office uninstall this weekend followed by a reinstall but hoping someone has an answer before then. Again this only seems to affect Printing an attachment; all other printing is normal.

Saving Notes as PDFs on iPad

When trying to save a notebook page as a PDF onto my iPad, the PDF that is created does not create the grid lines that I added under the “Paper Style” option. This is incredibly frustrating because I use OneNote for homework and labs in my engineering courses. I love it because it makes drawing figures and making notes easy, but I cannot turn in my work without grid lines. The page loses all of the structure that the grid lines give to it.

I desperately hope for this to be fixed sometime soon.

Backstage New extensibility in Office

Cannot indent list on iPhone

One of my students recently created at Page in OneNote. I got curious as to exactly when this happened so I right-clicked that page and selected "Page Version". According to the metadata pane, the student just edited the page, it was created some five years ago by a person I have never heard of. See screenshot.

Is this some sort of unlikely page id collision? A bug in the metadata viewer? Or something else? However you look at it, it's a bit disconcerting.

This new academic year I can't get anything to move from my @work file. If I choose distribute page, I get "no common sections available." If I choose group distribution I get: "Select the students to whom you want to distribute0 Page(s)" This is so exasperating, it was working smoothly last year. I deleted OneNote from my Mac and reinstalled but it made no difference. I am also using a PC, but it is behaving in the same way. What is happening?

I'm about to get a guest user in another tenant that is created for my current account with an E3 license. The question is that, does the guest user inherit the license from my current account in the org of my guest user? Would I be able to use a Power App in Teams and log into the connectors such as Outlook, SharePoint, Dataverse...?

Also, would my guest user be able to access the Power Platform admin center and https://make.powerapps.com/?

What limitations does the guest user have generally in the new environment and does the licenses from the previous org inherit?

I backup everyday all my oneNOte folder everyday. :) And I have automatic backup set up. But after a problem, it suggested clearing the cache, I did.

I try to restore my oneNote the way it was. It's simply clicking on my file right. Well it look like they are 3 month old. I don't understand. Why my restored file are so old, while it's the file I use daily.

My oneNote is installed on my computer, it's the full version.

according to Roadmap "Whiteboard: Storage in OneDrive for Business", new whiteboards will be stored in the Onedrive for Business of the user who creates the new whiteboard. According to documentation "Enable Microsoft Whiteboard on OneDrive for Business", this will be the case even if the whiteboard was started in a channel, meeting or chat, and regardles of the organisator of the meeting.

This raises questions regarding ownership and sharing abilities. To align with MS365 as it works in many other places, I would expect the following features/results:

A whiteboard that was startet in a channel (e.g. as a tab) is owned by the channel; it is stored in the appropiate sharepoint document library (like recordings and the like). All channel members have access to it, including guest if they are part of the team. This would be true for whiteboards created in channel meetings, as well.
A whiteboard startet in any non-channel meeting is owned by the meeting organiser, no matter who startet it. All participants will have access to it according to the general sharing settings in my Onedrive for Business.

I am a bit stumped with this. I have a number of extensive onenote notebooks that I used to keep on my work onedrive. I changed jobs and they have deleted my old work onedrive. I can still access the notebooks on my own computer, but can't find the actual notebook files on there.

I would like to transfer these notebooks to my new onedrive. But I can't find the files on my hard drive and I can't connect to the old onedrive anymore so I can't do the online export/import suggestion that I read somewhere else.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Servicing Monthly Enterprise works somewhat

We have 7,5k devices in our M365 app admin center and have an active service plan for Monthly Enterprise across all devices and we've checked everything from Semi Annual Targeted to Current Channel Preview.

Despite this, we are seeing a very high number of builds. Right now we're at 27 different builds where the majority is older than Monthly. There seems be always be about 350 devices never getting updated each month despite being targeted.

Is it possible to troubleshoot why certain devices aren't being updated? We have no reported issues under the profile.

I know you've probably read and heard this many times: read the exam questions slowly and accurately. Well, that was the key to success for me. It's the details that make the difference between success and failure. I would like to give you a few examples:

1. For example, if 2 retention labels are applied to the same object (Label1 Retention 5 years and Label2 delete after 2 Years), you need to know that retention has precedence.

2. Several eDiscovery cases were opened by different users. User1 wants to delete Case3 (opened by User3), but he can only do this if he is eDiscover administrator. So here it is important to know the different roles.

3. The Conditional Access Policies are very popular exam questions, here you should really know the details. For example, what is set for "Cloud apps or actions" or for "Conditions", "Access controls", etc.

Please take a close look at the details!

One final tip: When you have learned something new, try to explain what you have learned to another person (whether or not they know your subject). If you can explain it in your own words, you understand the subject. That is exactly how I do it, except that I do not explain it to another person, but record a video for YouTube!

Sync error - need help ASAP

Use school email for OneNote. got a job as a tutor, then my email changed. I'm guessing that cause the error. I have talked with tech support from my university. They joined the two emails or something. Still have sync issues. Recently called back, and they told me that a lot of student are having OneNote sync errors as well.

Details:

Looking through the graph api and I can list appointments with the start time and end time in the calendar's time-zone.

I need to be able to know a calendar's time-zone before I book an appointment through our app. Our app supports many calendars and each may be in different timezones.

I would expect to find timezone to be in the bookingBusinesses/{id} resource.

The work around I have is to look up an appointment and if there are no appointments, then create one. Seems like expensive overhead and the parent bookingsBusinesses object should hold that information.

Include Teams Status in Graph Presence API

Standard way to unit test and mock office-js API

Currently, there is no documentation or any model to follow about unit testing and mocking with Office-js. Using standards approaches like Sinon or Jest proves challenging because office-js API needs to be loaded by an HTML file, making the API not available beforehand.

This issue also increases because some test APIs may require the entire object to be mocked, which can have more than 100 properties, making it not feasible.

There is also the issue of making the tests preserve the order of functions load or sync, which are very common to occur in the development and are difficult to test because stateless test APIs do not support easily adding state variables to handle those functions.

Having an easy and common approach, with an explanation of how to use it, would solve these problems, thus making unit testing/mocking office-js a quicker and easier experience.

Need to be able to create Channel-based Teams meetings / or at least be able to link Graph-created regular Teams meetings with a Channel's calendar. Unfortunately, neither of these scenarios are possible through the Graph API. Channel calendaring is currently only a feature available to Teams as a client and has no publicly available APIs to integrate with it.

What is needed is a way to write/update the JoinURL of the Channel Calendar. The teams client does this but there is no API to do this using Graph API.

spell check is skipping errors on windows machine

Password changes in M365 Vs Azure

We have a convoluted system based on our structure. We use an LDAP system as our primary directory. That syncs with on prem AD which then syncs to Azure. This is all designed one way and is not back writable.

Sometimes, our students cannot access their Microsoft licensing and the helpdesk changes their password in M365 admin portal. This breaks our SSO because then their M365 password is not getting synced properly.

My main issue is wondering why the password is not getting changed back to what it should be when on prem AD syncs to Azure. M365 uses the Azure credentials, correct? If you have questions, let me know, I can add details if needed. This has been a very evolved process.

This is exactly the reason why the license option is not available in the Microsoft 365 group "Technik" and in the Microsoft 365 group "IT-Administration" it is!

Get-AzureADMSGroup -SearchString "Technik"

Set-AzureADMSGroup -Id a8269c21-1059-4bb1-8937-7f2d6a6f6b92 -SecurityEnabled $true

Bingo! Now the license option is also available in the "Technik" group!

Explanation:

When you create a new Microsoft 365 group in the Microsoft 365 portal, you cannot work with group licensing in Azure Active Directory because the group's SecurityEnabled property has the value "false".

If you create a new Microsoft 365 group in Azure Active Directory, you can work with group licensing in Azure AD because the SecurityEnabled property has a value of "true".

Sure this wasn't super exciting, but I still wanted to share this information with you.

I am trying to log into an Office365 admin account, this occurs:

That's fine, but when clicking "This" or "Next" (As it should be), i get redirected to this page:

The multi-factor authentication policy is misconfigured. Contact your admin to enable notification and verification code for the mobile app in the policy. For more information, see the aka.ms/securitydefaults.

The problem is, how do i log in? This occurs on the admin account.

Set the domain part of groups in the mailadrress (upon create or with update)

We are creating a lot of groups through the Graph API, this works perfectly, but we can only specify the mailNickname meaning it will pick the default domain configured for that tenant. Since we are using application permissions we cannot use the Microsoft 365 groups naming policies. and we don't know if they would even be considered when using the Graph API.

In one sentence we would like to be able to set the used domain upon group creation, or have a way to change the domain for existing groups. The way this works with users seems reasonable.

Being able to group groups in a specific domain seems like a reasonable request, especially if tenants grow larger.

We tried the following actions:

Just send an update with the mail property (ignoring the fact that the mail property is read-only as stated here. (fails with bad request)
Add the mail property to the create request. (fails with bad request)
Extracting a token from the browser and mimicking the same calls as the admin portal does (works, but we don't want to rely on internal api's that might change soon)

At the moment we have 2 ways of achieving what we need "create groups with a domain different from the default":

Change the default domain right before the group creation (highly likely to fail, but works)
Request application access to the entire Exchange environment, and run a powershell to change the groups (we don't want access to all users emails just to change a domain on groups, and we also don't want to implement some powershell script to a different service just to change domains).

One Note 2013 versus One Note for Windows 10

I truly love OneNote 2013 but I decided to try OneNote for Windows 10. I installed it on 3 computers. I thought they were syncing to each until I found that one had no password entered and so syncing stopped and I'm trying to solve this problem. I find that I have different sign-in information on one or more of the computers, which is hindering the logins. So right now I would really like to get back to just OneNote for 2013. How and where do I begin to get rid of the new version and keep my original without losing years of data? Thanks to all who try to help.

Privacy changes to Microsoft 365 Usage Analytics

At Microsoft, we’re committed to both data-driven insights and user privacy. As part of that commitment, we’re making a change to Microsoft 365 usage analytics on September 1st to pseudonymize user-level information by default. This change affects the following products and APIs, and will help companies support their local privacy laws:

Microsoft 365 Reports in the Microsoft 365 admin center
Microsoft 365 usage reports in Microsoft Graph
Microsoft Teams analytics and reporting in the Microsoft Teams admin center
The reportRoot: getSharePointSiteUsageDetail API (1.0 and beta) for SharePoint site detail

Global administrators can revert this change for their tenant and show identifiable user information if their organization’s privacy practices allow. This can be achieved in the Microsoft 365 admin center by going to Settings > Org Settings > Services and selecting Reports. Under Choose how to show user information, uncheck the statement In all reports, display de-identified names for users, groups, and sites, and then save your changes. Showing identifiable user information is a logged event in the Microsoft 365 compliance center audit log.

When user identification is enabled, administrative roles and the report reader role will be able to see identifiable user level information. Global reader and Usage Summary Reports Reader roles will not have access to identifiable user information, regardless of the setting chosen.

These changes to the product will bolster privacy for users while still enabling IT professionals to measure adoption trends, track license allocation and determine license renewal in Microsoft 365.

Cannot change country is causing me legal issues

Apparently, you are not allowed to change country at Microsoft 365.. neither you can change your credit card (from another country).

What happens when someone (individual) or a startup (legal entity) has to change country?

It is an unbelievable situation, having to switch off all services (off board) and then create a new Office 365 account, and migrate all the services just because you or the company decides to relocate to another country.

Seems like a massive capability miss and the customer experience is hit big time (at least in my case).

Microsoft 365 is insisting on billing and invoicing a company that does not exist any more, and the address is invalid. While me, the owner of the account, I am totally blocked - not allowed to just change the country. I am seeking legal advise at the moment, hope the product owners of Microsoft 365 realises that this is a totally not acceptable situation.

New minimum Outlook for Windows version requirements for Microsoft 365

We are quickly approaching the November 1st deadline when the minimum version requirements for connecting Outlook for Windows to Office 365/Microsoft 365 services will change. So, we thought we’d share more information on why we’re doing that.

After November 1, 2021, only Outlook 2013 Service Pack 1 (with latest fixes) and later will be able to connect to Microsoft 365 services. It’s worth noting here that Outlook 2007, 2010, and Office 2013 versions earlier than 15.0.4971.1000 aren’t supported now, but we know some customers just can’t quit them.

The deadline is approaching!

Since our Message Center post last fall, we’ve seen a drop in the usage of the unsupported versions of Outlook for Windows – great job! If you’re still running older versions, please start working on a plan to move by November 1st.

Our Customer Support team is actively reaching out to tenants that have the most usage on Outlook 2007 and 2010 to help them meet the deadline. If you have questions or concerns about getting all users off these unsupported builds, please reach out to your support teams.

Why are we blocking old versions?

Older versions of Outlook such as Outlook 2007 and 2010 are incompatible with the following upcoming service changes, which is prompting this controlled block:

Support for basic authentication is ending to increase the security of Microsoft 365 by relying on modern authentication protocols, which are not only more secure, but also provide compliance and policy controls to help you manage your data.
We’re working on adding support for HTTP/2 in Microsoft 365. HTTP/2 is a full duplex protocol, which decreases latency through header compression and request multiplexing. On the service side, we’ll be able to better prioritize requests and more effectively push data to clients.

It can be a challenge to stay current, but there are many reasons why staying current is a good idea:

Security fixes will protect your devices against known vulnerabilities.
Reliability – over the last five years we’ve eliminated 75% of crashes in Outlook!
Updated versions have all the coolest new features to make your life easier!

Need help with one weird issue.

Even though email is sent to xyz@domain.com it actually resolves to xyz@domain.onmicrosoft.com and then gets quarantine where there is no detail for quarantine if I run message trace.

The sender is sending email to xyz@domain.com but in message trace it shows that email was sent to xyz@domain.onmicrosoft.com.

I have done some testing such as message trace , but didn't find anything. Any idea what could be wrong ! FYI I am using hybrid environment.
