Re: Booking 1 meeting room to book 2

I came up with a version that I quite like.

The combined/large/"A" room:
-Forward (not redirect) all bookings to the smaller rooms. A Mailbox Rule works for this.
-Block Outward Acceptance messages from room. Transport Rule required. Add large rooms to a Distribution List and target that group for blocking.
-Allow double bookings. Requires Powershell.

The split/small/"B" and "C" rooms:
-Forward (not redirect) all bookings to the large room. A Mailbox Rule works for this.
-Allow Outward Acceptance messages from room. Auto attendant required.
-Do not allow double bookings. Auto attendant required.

Booking any room automatically notifies the user of which room parts will be available or not. i.e.
-Book a small room and the booking will appear in the large, blocking it, while notifying the user only of the small room.
-Book the large/combined room and it will appear in all the small rooms, blocking them, while notifying the user only of the small rooms.
-As the large room allows double bookings, there is never a decline message from it directly.
-As the large room blocks acceptance emails there is never an acceptance message from it directly.
-If the large room booking overlaps a booking in a small room that room will decline but the other room will still accept.
-Changing a booking time re-triggers the forward and new meeting accept/declines are sent.

I think that covers it but happy to answer questions.

Cheers,
Mick

You can run the Autodiscover test from Outlook, but perhaps it will be easier if you just run the automatic diagnostic tool here: https://diagnostics.outlook.com/

Right. So one of the reasons this might happen is because of the language settings. More specifically, the language version of Windows does not match the language version of Office. To fix that, go to Control panel -> Region -> Administrative -> Language for non-Unicode programs and make the change there.

Another option is that the setting is disabled by policy, but it looks like this is a personal machine, so that's more unlikely.

<LI-USER uid="259703"></LI-USER> We found in our environment via trial and error that the REST calendar sharing preview only applies to instances of Office on the 'Monthly Channel (Targeted)' subscription. That's how it is for now until they decide to release the feature to regular Monthly Channel subscription.

If you have Office 365 with Targeted Release, you're good to go. If not, here's what we did to set it up:

- Set AAD user accounts 'StagedRolloutOne' on the ReleaseTrack attribute (Set-MsolUser -UserPrincipalName [UPN] -ReleaseTrack "StagedRolloutOne")

- Uninstall Office 365 from workstations assigned to those AAD accounts set for Targeted Release ("StagedRolloutOne")

- Install Office 365

- Verify by opening Outlook > File tab > Office Account > About Outlook and it should read "Monthly Channel (Targeted)." You should also see Version 1907 (or 1908 at this point).

- Set REST calendar sharing by going to Account Settings > [Primary Exchange Account] > More Settings > Advanced > Office 365 Features - check "Turn on shared calendar improvements (preview)."

We are testing select accounts with high activity on calendar scheduling. Here's one of the Office Support articles with detail on setting this up:

Outlook calendar sharing updates

https://support.office.com/en-us/article/outlook-calendar-sharing-updates-c3aec5d3-55ce-4cea-84b0-80aab6d8dc26?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US

Hope this helps.

Would be much better if Microsoft fixed the search, and implemented code to identify if there was a problem and fix it programmatically.

And "Check Whether the Outlook Profile is Stored at the Default Location." is neither helpful or specific. How are we supposed to know where the default location is, and what do we do if it is NOT in the default location?

It seems that for phone numbers that are within the Location field in Outlook v4.5 (iOS), they no longer allow for click to dial. Not quite certain if this is a bug introduced in Outlook for iOS v4.5 or a coincidence of upgrading to iOS 13.1.2... or an InTune configuration setting misapplied.

Anyone happen to have insight on this one as to if this is iOS or InTune causing the problem, or if indeed it's an Outlook iOS app issue that hopefully will be corrected soon?

In the hopes that this helps someone else...

My issue was caused by an Outlook Contact originally created by opening the address book, opening the contact, and clicking the Add to Contacts button (and) that user's email address being added to his manager's Exchange account after he left the company. Even though ALL email addresses had been removed from the contact, the manager kept showing in Outlook & Skype for Business as the old employee. I ended up deleting the old employee's contact from my Outlook Contacts to resolve the issue. I was able to re-create the Outlook Contact after without re-creating the issue. I hope this helps someone.

<LI-USER uid="415718"></LI-USER> This has been happening to me for the last few weeks, it's very annoying. Not only happens on opening attachments, also happens when saving: two 'save as' dialogue boxes open which is very confusing as it's hard to track what you've saved and where. If saving multiple attachments it also doesn't default back to where you last saved, which is also extremely irritating. Can't for the life of me work out how to fix it. Temp fix of opening a reading pane instead didn't work - it did at first but then the problem came back. Only thing that DOES fix it is if you click on the 'download all' link, if you want to save. This work for one attachment, but not very helpful if you want to save multiples to different places, or if you're simply opening for viewing.

I'll emphasize that Microsoft must fix bugs more promptly. Nothing less than the confidence of OCM users is at stake. We were seriously considering migrating to another CRM app even with all the headaches. To take more than three months to fix this bug isn't acceptable. Can I get an "Amen!" from the People?

Anyone know why the green one is trying to hide under the orange one? Previously I was also having problems with parts of the GUI becoming completely black but I haven't been seeing that lately. I think this is related to the update a while back when Outlook got a bit of a facelift, I didn't see it before that. If I open and close the middle one it will be solved temporarily. Is this a known issue or something I can do something about?

I use the Outlook app on Android to look at my Google calendars and to get them to display on the Wear OS Outlook watch face, but whenever I open the outlook app on my phone I don't see any events listed. The same is true for my watch. Turning the calendars on and off randomly makes them appear again. How do I fix this? I use the Outlook watch face for its calendar rings and I really like its design.

iOS Outlook vs iOS Mail

Hi there. Sorry for the basic question but I’ve been wondering about this for a while...
I’m a small business user and I use Outlook on my PC (with Office 365 subscription) and Mail on my iPhone. All my files sit in OneDrive.
Is there any real advantage to using Outlook on my phone too?
Thoughts/opinions/experiences?
I seem to be surviving just fine at the moment and don’t want to duplicate my mail or learn a new system unless there is a good reason. However if it all just works better then that’s a great reason!
Many thanks!

I like and use Dark Mode (version 4.3.1 on iOS), but I have noticed a little problem with setting signatures per account. It is black on black.

What is bothering you exactly? In mobile Outlook you can set notifications to trigger only for Focused inbox, so you shouldn't be bothered by the clutter emails. Although I haven't used Focused on mobile myself, so not sure if this is completely silent.

Honestly though, if you are ok with unsubscribing from these sources, I would just do that and unsubscribe :)

Although I like the change from clutter folder to a tab in the inbox in my desktop client, it is extremely annoying on my mobile phone (Blackberry Key2). Inbox is the only folder I sync to my phone, so I did not see clutter emails until the change. Now all those emails are sent to my phone. Is there something I can configure to change this behavior? If not, I will have to unsubscribe all the clutter sources as the clutter now on my phone renders the phone almost useless!
