We are having an issue that started Last Friday. When Windows 7 (only) machines are connected to our internal network they can not open Outlook (it hangs). If that same machine jumps onto an external network its fine. Also users can run Outlook in Office 365 no problem. We think some update hit our domain controllers on Friday causing the issue but we have not been able to fix the issue. We have tried giving user admin rights, disabling our Sophos antivirus but nothing is working. All windows 10 machines are fine.

J'ai essayé de faire une restoration, mais rien n'a changé. Il n'est plus possible d'effectuer une recherche dans mes mails. J'ai également essayé une "recontruction" du fichier pst. Sans succès non plus.

Ce problème est-il connu ?
Outlook (v4.5) on iOS Click to Dial Broken

It seems that for phone numbers that are within the Location field in Outlook v4.5 (iOS), they no longer allow for click to dial. Not quite certain if this is a bug introduced in Outlook for iOS v4.5 or a coincidence of upgrading to iOS 13.1.2... or an InTune configuration setting misapplied.

Anyone happen to have insight on this one as to if this is iOS or InTune causing the problem, or if indeed it's an Outlook iOS app issue that hopefully will be corrected soon?

Anyone know why the green one is trying to hide under the orange one? Previously I was also having problems with parts of the GUI becoming completely black but I haven't been seeing that lately. I think this is related to the update a while back when Outlook got a bit of a facelift, I didn't see it before that. If I open and close the middle one it will be solved temporarily. Is this a known issue or something I can do something about?

I use the Outlook app on Android to look at my Google calendars and to get them to display on the Wear OS Outlook watch face, but whenever I open the outlook app on my phone I don't see any events listed. The same is true for my watch. Turning the calendars on and off randomly makes them appear again. How do I fix this? I use the Outlook watch face for its calendar rings and I really like its design.

Hi there. Sorry for the basic question but I’ve been wondering about this for a while...
I’m a small business user and I use Outlook on my PC (with Office 365 subscription) and Mail on my iPhone. All my files sit in OneDrive.
Is there any real advantage to using Outlook on my phone too?
Thoughts/opinions/experiences?
I seem to be surviving just fine at the moment and don’t want to duplicate my mail or learn a new system unless there is a good reason. However if it all just works better then that’s a great reason!
Many thanks!

We have a cleared the windows credentials, no go and when we try to create a new profile, it says - Sorry can't create at this moment(not the exact works).

On a side note, the user is also seeing a bit locker issue and the machine can't detect the TPM. Not sure if the issues are related in any matter, but wanted to put it out there.

Any suggestions will be very helpful.

Thanks!

Can this really be the case?

I need to fix this issue but although I managed to get one to fix but creating a 2 stage authentication and a special app password, none of the others will work even after following exactly the same process.

I'm at a loss?

I've got Windows 10, with the May update. The Person's app allows me to place contacts on my taskbar. Love this feature! I have placed my family there.

One thing that it's doing now is showing me that I've got duplicate entries which are likely the same person. Entirely likely. Clicking on one of them I see it suggesting that they may be in the People app as well as "Mail". Is that Outlook? Or is it the Mail program that comes with Windows? Ultimately, I'd just like to get whatever's in "Mail" and put it into People.

How does importing a Calendar from an .ics feed REALLY work??

I have the .ics feed URL from a calendar in another system (Blackboard Learn LMS) that has been added to my Calendar in Outlook on the Web via the "Import Calendar" > "From web" function. My goal is to create an item in Todo (the "new" Tasks thing) for each even on that calendar feed.

I've created a Flow that does this, but the problem is that duplicate Todo items are being created for each event. To figure out why, I created a SharePoint list and added a step in the Flow to log the Todo item creation there, including the "ID" of the event from the calendar. What I found is that every 4 hours (the default "provider limit" for the .ics feed), the events on the calendar seem to get replaced with duplicates (same data, different event ID), which explains why new Todo items get created. It's seeing them as "new" events on the calendar because, well..they ARE new events that just happen to be identical to the old ones.

In any event, is this how it's supposed to work when you import a calendar from an .ics feed URL? If so, it seems kind of, well, dumb. Or, could this be that the "provider" (Blackboard Learn LMS) is responding with all events each time it syncs/refreshes rather than just "new" events? As a test of this theory, I'm going to import another web calendar (from Google) and see if I get the same result.

But, if anyone has experience in this area or can point me to some documentation on how this feature/function is supposed to work, that would be fantastic.

Before you go for any third-party tool, using an inbox repair tool is a must task. You can easily found this tool in the installation folder of MS Outlook with named as "ScanPST.exe". After getting this tool, run the tool and choose the corrupted PST file that you want to save and click on next and repair to finish the process. Most of the time Error got resolved in Outlook data file but if the error still persist then you can go for an advanced solution by getting a PST repair tool that is a universal solution for all the errors in PST file.
This tool just transfers all the inaccessible data from corrupted PST file to newly PST file that makes the data accessible again in MS Outlook with the help of the new PST file.
PST repair tool also allows the user to save the data into several other formats such as EML, MSG, MHTML, RTF, TXT, Office 365, etc.

BUG? Can't select 11 or 12 when creating a calendar item in Outlook on the Web from a phone.

Howdy

We noticed today that if I go to outlook.office.com from my phone (Android - GS9+), and I then go to the Calendar area to create an event, I cannot choose 11 or 12 for the start time of the event. I can scroll up and down to select everything 1-10 but it won't scroll far enough for me to get 11 or 12 in the middle and tapping them also doesn't work. We had two people test this and neither one could get it to work.

I also can't set the month and choose 11 or 12 or set the date and choose the last two days of the month. It only scrolls up high enough to show 2 empty boxes below the numbers which isn't far enough for me to select them.

I found that if I turn my phone sideways, it then does let me scroll because the screen is smaller, but then if I turn it vertical, I can't change the hours of the meeting any more. Maybe if my phone screen was smaller it would let me pick those other options but it doesn't work the way it is now.

Can anyone else confirm that this is a problem and we can hopefully get someone from Microsoft to fix it?

Thanks.

Outlook on the web - replied to emails shown under the unread filter, issue comes and goes!

Hi, I'm helping out a local business and they've asked to help resolve an issue whereby with the latest rollout of Microsoft Office 365 Outlook for the web.

When they reply to emails then go set the filter to show unread emails only, the replied to emails are still shown. You can still mark them as read manually but it's an extra step which wasn't necessary before.

The frustrating thing is that this issue occurs randomly and not usually when I'm doing a screen share call with their Microsoft support centre!. Microsoft said that the only explanation they can think of is that it's something to do with the internet connection.

This issue was never there before the new UI rollout - so I suspect there is a temperamental issue there. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks

Mark

In an other use, I have to plugin a FIDO2 compatible stick to an USB connector, and I have to press the stick.

This works fine, if I use outlook online or I will login to a microsoft page. But in Outlook 2013 I receive always the message: "Please give up your password". But this fails, may the 2 factor authentication is failed.

How I can implement this technology in the software Outlook 2013?

For the last two days everything such as the list below has been done, but OCM cannot launch.

1- Clear cache, make sure cache creation is checked in Internet Explorer

2- Tried using alternative browsers such as Edge, Chrome and Firefox

3- Made sure the OCM feature is part of the license

4- Made sure it is part of the Active User.

5 - Manually added the OCM add in from this URL - https://ocm.outlookapps.com/GetManifest

Using Windows 10 Pro. On Outlook Desktop, managed to add-in OCM via the URL https://outlook.office365.com/owa/?path=/options/manageapps

RESULT of al this :

Something went wrong

Please make sure your browser settings allow cache creation.

After this reinstalled Office, but no luck.

Animated Gifs Not Always working

Using Office365 (Outlook 365 1908 version). Not all animated gifs work as expected. I can grab an image from Google Images and paste it is an email, I can search using the Online Image option; however an animate gif that was created internally and inserted will not play. One has to open the email in the browser.

So I was wondering, if there are different formats of an animated gif or something our graphic designer needs to do with the file for Outlook to render the image as an animation. I did notice what was a bit odd, I can go to my sent items and see the animated gif working there but the receiver has to render the email in the browser. We are all using the same version internally of Outlook. Outlook for the Web renders the animated gif as well. I know animated gifs were added in 1901. Again, I was able to grab one from Google Images and the Online Image store in Outlook and they both worked. Thanks.

In March, we announced that we would have a preview to support AMP for email in Outlook.com by summer. Today, we are happy to announce that we have entered the developer preview phase. Support for the format has been rolled out but it is turned off by default. Any email sender interested in trying their AMP emails in Outlook.com can turn it on for their mailbox for testing purposes.

Additionally, senders can register now to send AMP emails to their customers in the near future.

Hi everyone, I have a problem with Outlook client. We have a set of rules (ie no system rule but a written rule) here at work that everyone who works at the administration should be able to see other people's calendars at the level "Can view titles and location". Previously, it was possible to go into Permissions and add the group "inst-forv" and give them "Can view titles and location" without it sent a mail or pointed out to those who are in that group. They just got the new rights to see more. But then sometime this spring this changed and now an email is sent to each one that I want to share my calendar with everyone in that group. You get an Accept button in the mail that also adds the calendar to your calendars.

The question is, can this behavior be turned off? I wish it was like before :)

Hallo, start using customer manager i can see the in and outgoing mails from my account.

In our compny we have shared folders - because customers should write to master-mail-adresses like info at company.com or office at compny.com - not specively to a person.
And because of this, it is important, to see also all these mails.
And also the team ...

What do i have to setup?
Or is this actually not possible? If yes, is in on roadmap for a short period?

Without this feature we cannot use the ocm - this is a basic function in the system, whis is shown like a small crm.

Thanks for assistance, info an help
Best regards
Frank

Shared mailbox messages going to recoverable deleted items

Hi!

Trying to solve an issue that's plagued me for a couple weeks. We have a shared mailbox hosted in Exchange Online that receives customer orders. We're discovering that many orders are somehow landing in the recoverable items section of deleted items and we've yet to find a root cause. Things I've tried:

1. Disable, then deleted, all mailbox-level rules on the shared mailbox.

2. Tried to get audit logs from protection.office.com - no results available.

3. Eventually stumbled on this article which lets me export logs to a CSV.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4021960/how-to-use-mailbox-audit-logs-in-office-365

However the logs are somewhat inconclusive. I see some actions like "SoftDelete" from users (which I think would not move the email to recoverable deleted items). I also see "MoveToDeletedItems" and "HardDelete". However there's only a handful of hard deletes - not enough to account for the hundreds of emails showing in recoverable deleted items.

4. Reset all users passwords.

5. Had their supervisor remind them no emails should be deleted, only moved to a folder called "Completed". Multiple users insist they understand this protocol and are following it.

6. Checked several suspect users in the audit log for Outlook issues, rules, ignore, or other reasons that might be causing it. Rebuilt a suspect user's Outlook profile.

7. Ran Get-InboxRule to see if there were any additional rules

8. Ran outlook.exe /cleanconvongoingactions to remove any ignores

9. Remove all mailbox permissions except for system ones (e.g. NT Authority\SELF, NAMPRD02\Exchange Users, etc.). Re-add to try to identify which users are causing deletes. As we've slowly re-added users we saw deletes stop for a while and thought we had identified a specific user, but today confirmed that is not the case - there's no specific user that appears to be the cause.

Help? Any ideas?

I am suddenly inundated with spam that are all with various emails addresses from a specific domain. I've block the domain online so they all go into junk mail but they really pile up in there.

I know that a rule can be created so an email from a specific email address so the email is deleted permanently. But I can't see any way to create a rule to delete all emails from a particular domain no matter what the address part before the "@" is.

Any way accomplish this? I don't just want them moved into the Deleted Items folder, I want them permanently deleted.

Jonathan

I have the insider version of Outlook installed on my iPhone. When trying to add a shared mailbox I get an error message (Authentication failed). I am able to add it in the desktop app and open it online so I definitely have the right permissions. Our tenant is setup with MFA, ADFS and pin to open Outlook on iOS (through Intune policies). Anyone else experiencing same issue?

Hello,

after recent upgrade, and then some Mac related issues (I had to format the drive and restore from timemachine) when I have restored the whole Office and MacOs, Outlook doesn't index or search my e-mails any more. TO be precise - it doesn't search the mails that were received previous to the restore, and will search the one I'm getting from the restore point on. IE - I have restored on 1st of august, and when i search it will search e-mails received after 1st August, but none of those received prior. If I scroll manually - i have all the mails prior to the 1st august... this is on all accounts that are connected to the Outlook - 2 Exchange (365) 2 gmail accounts and one regular POP account.

I have tried the "spotlight" fix - to add the folder to spotlight and then off, I have also tried and rebuild the outlook database - but nothing works.

I have - Outlook for Mac - 16.28 and MacOs Mojave 10.14.6

Best!

Outlook.com only uses GoDaddy for custom domains?

I recently persuaded a friend of mine to switch to Office365 Home. He uses and needs Officedesktop apps so this was a good solution for him.
To help with the transition I suggested he buy a custom domain and I will setup all the technical aspects of making that work for him.
We used a local Swiss registrar to obtain a .ch domain.
We then signed up for Office365 Home for 1 year and I looked for the process to add the custom domain to his Outlook account.
I do this on a daily basis in Office365 Business and Enterprise so assumed (wrongly) it would be the same.
What I found was that I can only add a custom domain if I go through GoDaddy and this is unacceptable. There should be an option to do this as a custom setup.
What are my options? Are there ways, perhaps using PowerShell where I can bypass the requirement for GoDaddy?
Will Microsoft be adding other providers or better still a custom solution?

Outlook 2019 freezing after creating default pst file

I migrated my Outlook 2010 email folders (pst) over to a new Outlook 2019 install with 4 IMAP accounts. It was working fine, but then I created a pst file, made it the default data file, and copied my old calendar and task information into it. I closed Outlook and renamed the 4 ost data files.

On the restart I expected Outlook to create new ost files, which it did, but after 2+ hours it was still "processing". After closing it using Task Manager, I then restarted it and it appeared to open but then was not responding. I did a repair of the pst file, and now when I try to open Outlook I get the message "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannon open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The file C:\(filepath and filename).pst cannot be opened.

Does anyone have a solution for this? I have done a system restart (Windows 10) as well. I cannot even get Outlook to open where I could remove the data file.

Outlook mobile is rolling out Dark Mode and exemplifies Microsoft 365 Design

Today we are starting to roll out dark mode in Outlook for iOS and Android. For added comfort or when a bright screen may not be appropriate, we’re bringing people the choice and flexibility to adapt their experience with a simple and powerful Microsoft 365 Dark Theme experience.

Outlook for Android and iOS

Adapting to work life flow, Outlook focuses its design on the context of where people want to use Dark Mode. When asked, people found the experience comfortable and aesthetically pleasing while keeping their email and calendar content crisp and clear. This way, Outlook helps you stay connected and organized so you can get things done wherever you are such as dimly lit living rooms, home offices or airplanes.

This experience is in keeping with other modern apps that aim to ease viewing and reduce eye strain. And, to help optimize battery life, once iOS and Android devices support dark themes*, Outlook plans to automatically switch to Dark Mode based on their device settings in addition to Outlook in-app options.

It’ll take several weeks to complete the full roll out of Dark Mode in Outlook for iOS or Android worldwide. Download the app today and keep your app up to date so once it’s available to you, you can share feedback with us by visiting Outlook.UserVoice. To learn more about the Microsoft 365 cross-company design approach to Dark Mode, refer to this article in Medium by Jon Friedman, corporate vice president of design and research at Microsoft.

*When iOS 13 and Android Q are available, Outlook is planning to automatically switch to dark theme based on those settings

While using OWA recently, approximately a week now, I have been unable to empty, block or apply as phishing to junk emails. I had been able to select the messages, from the Not Junk drop down, select Block and it would delete the selected messages and add to the blocked list. Now when I click Block, I get the pop up asking to verify that I want to block the messages, I click OK as always. The pop up goes away and that is the end.

If I delete in Outlook 2010 they stay in the junk folder on OWA.

Any ideas? Suggestions?

Afternoon,

We recently updated the Outlook OWA app and it seems the ability to compose and read messages in a new window is missing? Before, you simply click 'reply' or 'new message' and it would pop up in a new window? Has anyone else had this problem or is the feature just hidden?

Been through most of the settings and can't seem to find it.

Thanks - Mark

Good morning everyone,

Over the past several months we've been experencing a very random issue where Outlook loses users credentials, and then when loading Outlook it prompts for the password, but goes away so quickly you don't have a chance to enter the password.

Steps we have taken to resolve the issues.

1. We've cleared credential manager on the system

2. Repaired office (both quick and online).

3. Created new Outlook profiles (including deleting the .ost file).

4. Uninstalled/reinstalled Office completely.

Most times it works itself out after a few days, but I don't get why this issue continues to happen.

Any helpful tips?

thanks in advance

I am trying to attach a Group file to my Outlook email. However, I am unable to access the Group's Document library that contains the file I want. As shown in the image below, we save our Group's files in the "Documents" document library instead of the "Microsoft Teams Files" document library. However, when I access the Group files within outlook, it only is displaying the files/folders within the "Microsoft Teams Files" document library. This prevents me from accessing the files that I need and makes this attachment feature unusable.

I know there are workarounds, like grabbing the URL and pasting it in the email, but I'm wondering if there are any ideas on how to make this work.

Room booking just became easier in Outlook on the web

How often have you tried to find rooms that are available for your meeting's time, your recurring series, have the capacity and resources you need, and are close to you? Probably enough to acknowledge it can be a bit time consuming, especially if you are creating a recurring event or trying to book multiple rooms in different cities.

To help you with this, we are releasing features that make it easier to find the room with the characteristics you need. We also have new features to help you manage your meetings!

Easily browse rooms

For those times when you need to find rooms in multiple cities, you can now search for rooms beyond the ones we show you. Just click on the location bar, and then go to “Browse more rooms”, this opens a right-side panel where you can search for a room by building and city.

Browse rooms by city and see what capacity each room has

Find rooms with specific characteristics

There are meetings that need specific resources like audio and video capabilities, a specific capacity, or a projector. Now to help you find what you need, you can filter for rooms based on capacity, features, and floor.

Browse more rooms to find the one you need

Book multiple rooms

Not everyone in your meeting works in the same building or even the same city. For those meetings when your team is spread across the world, Outlook lets you book multiple rooms so you can make sure everyone has a good spot for that important call. To do this, go to “Browse more rooms” and search by city, then add the rooms you need.

Search rooms per city and add the ones you need

Invite optional attendees

You can now add optional attendees faster, directly from the meeting form. Just click on “Optional” and a new “Invite optional attendees” box will open, no need to go to the Scheduling Assistant.

Adding optional attendees is now easier, right from the meeting form

Some of these capabilities need to be set up by the organization's administrator. If you want to learn how to set up the options shown in the browse rooms panel, you can learn how here.

Online meetings get more options

You likely create or attend several online meetings during your workday, so we want to make your online meeting experience as streamlined as possible – This means options on how to create your meetings, easily join an online meeting, and quickly check how many people are attending the meeting.

Create an online meeting with Teams or Skype for Business
We’ve updated our backend to more closely reflect your organization’s online meeting policies. Depending on what services you are enabled for, you will see 1 of 3 options: i) A drop down menu to “Add online meeting” where you can select between a Teams or Skype for Business meeting, ii) a toggle to create a Skype meeting or iii) a toggle to create a Teams meeting.

Go to Add online meeting to select your provider

Join an online meeting from the event peek
Joining an online meeting from the calendar should be easy. And now it is, just go to the meeting event and you can join in one click right from the event peek.

Join an online meeting right from the event peek

See attendees’ responses to a meeting
You can now easily see who is attending a meeting and see everyone’s response too. We’ve added a quick summary in the event peek and if you go into the full meeting invite you’ll see attendees grouped by their response. If you use the event peek, you can see attendees’ responses if the meeting has less than 3 people or a summary of responses if there are more.

See attendees’ responses in the event peek

Invite only who you want in group calendars

Sometimes, you want to create an event in a group calendar but do not need to invite everyone in the group. With this update you will be able to:

Create events without inviting anyone, like a reminder or a milestone for the group

Create “brownbag style” events where you can have some required attendees and other people in the group can add themselves to the event if they want to attend too

Invite the group and anyone else.

Learn more about invitations in group calendars in this post.

Most of the features are already available to Office and Microsoft 365 users and the remaining ones will be rolling out in the next couple of weeks. For some features to show up, the organization's administrator has to set up the room features. To learn how to do this, please read this.

We would love to know if these features help you plan and manage your meetings or if finding the right rooms is now easier for you.

Please, tell us what you think in our UserVoice channel or using the in-product smile feature.

Thank you!

Gabriel.

Five time-saving Outlook mobile tips for small businesses

If you work in a small business, you’re always on the move and juggling many tasks, which can make it challenging to stay on top of all you need to do. Outlook mobile is here to help! It brings together everything you need to manage your day in one place – your emails, calendar, contacts, documents, and more – so you can stay organized and get things done quickly.

Here are five time-saving Outlook mobile tips tailored specially for you, small business rock stars!

Tip 1: Morning triage made easy with one swipe

It’s Monday morning, and you’re running between meetings with just a few minutes to spare. You open your inbox to find emails that range from urgent customer requests to invoice approvals you’d rather follow up on later.

Outlook mobile helps you quickly schedule emails that you’d prefer to tackle at a different time. Simply swipe right on your email to schedule it to appear at a more convenient time in your inbox – this afternoon, Tuesday morning, or in a week. You can even swipe to archive, flag or delete a message, and customize these actions in settings.

<LI-VIDEO size="medium" width="400" thumbnail="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/Pb1gr_ljmVM/hqdefault.jpg" height="225" align="center" external="url" vid="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pb1gr_ljmVM&feature=youtu.be" uploading="false"></LI-VIDEO>

Tip 2: Share available times, quickly, based on your preferences

You may often receive requests to meet with potential customers or partners, but finding the best time to meet can be an arduous process with numerous back and forth emails.

Outlook mobile makes it easy to share preferred meeting timeslots in a snap. When composing an email, tap the calendar icon above the keyboard. Then, select times on your calendar that work best for you, and Outlook mobile will package these up into a tidy email. If the person you’re coordinating with also uses Outlook, they can simply select the time slot that works for them.

<LI-VIDEO size="medium" width="400" thumbnail="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/L71QL5UATlc/hqdefault.jpg" height="225" align="center" external="url" vid="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L71QL5UATlc&feature=youtu.be" uploading="false"></LI-VIDEO>

Tip 3: Grab their attention using “@”

You might find yourself sending multiple follow-up emails to set action items after meetings or get someone’s attention to an important business.

To make your follow-up email more actionable and easily noticed, simply type @ followed by the person’s name. Outlook will automatically highlight their name in the message body and add them to the "To" line. Plus, when they receive your email, the @mentioned messages will be easily spotted in their inbox so they can quickly see messages that require action.

<LI-VIDEO size="medium" width="400" thumbnail="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/tEUiZQ4U2dA/hqdefault.jpg" height="225" align="center" external="url" vid="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEUiZQ4U2dA&list=PLXPr7gfUMmKxhvskjpkUH9yeCKvur6QPZ&index=21&t=0s" uploading="false"></LI-VIDEO>

Tip 4: Quickly scan business cards to create Outlook contacts

Whether you’re attending a conference or networking with partners, you never know when you’ll meet someone who could help you grow your business. It’s important to make sure you capture their contact information in a safe place.

With integrated Office Lens technology in Outlook, you can easily scan business cards and save them right in Outlook with just a few steps. Tap Search, select “Create +” in the top right corner. From here, you can take a picture of the business card, and Outlook for Android intelligently takes the contact details from the card and saves it in Outlook! The business card scanning capability is currently only available for Android users, but Office Lens technology for taking photos and capturing whiteboards and documents is available on both Outlook for iOS and Android.

<LI-VIDEO size="medium" width="400" thumbnail="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/w1vewYkOFnw/hqdefault.jpg" height="225" align="center" external="url" vid="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1vewYkOFnw&feature=youtu.be" uploading="false"></LI-VIDEO>

Tip 5: Stay a step ahead when Outlook helps anticipate your needs

With so many demands on your time, it can sometimes be challenging to stay on top of everything – whether it’s upcoming travel, package delivery, or finding that sales spreadsheet buried in your email.

Outlook can help simplify your life by automatically adding any upcoming travel and other events, like dinners or concerts, right to your calendar, and will even remind you when to check in to your flight.

What’s more, when you tap Search, your upcoming travel and package deliveries, most frequent contacts, and recently shared documents appear front and center, even before you type a keyword query.

<LI-VIDEO size="medium" width="400" thumbnail="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/a-wWWFNyn2Y/hqdefault.jpg" height="225" align="center" external="url" vid="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-wWWFNyn2Y&feature=youtu.be" uploading="false"></LI-VIDEO>

eHi,

I have a customer with an issue with search function in Outlook resulting in No results found.

It's like this for all users on all RDSH Windows 2016 servers. I'm using loadbalancer (Win2016) and separate Exchange Server running on Windows 2012. Outlook is using online mode. Exchange server has been restarted with all services running well. Domain Controller network adapter was not showing domain connection but after restart of NlaSvc it did.

It was working fine until 3 days ago. No new updates have been installed for 20 days on any of the servers.

Any suggestions?

Shared Mailboxes in Outlook for Android

The roadmap states that "Outlook for Android: Support shared mailboxes" is currently rolling out (as of July 3rd) and should be fully rolled out by the end of Q2. If our tenancy already supports Microsoft Sync Tech, what is needed for our users to start using this feature? Will it rely on an Outlook for Android app update (currently on 3.0.107), tenancy support (any powershell cmds we can run to see if it's enabled for us?), or a test track being enabled (we're currently on Targeted Release for everyone)? Really looking forward to testing this! It's a very highly sought after feature from our clients!

After a full computer rebuild I reinstalled Office 365 and can't see Sent Items on Outlook

Hi all,

I know this must be a basic question but, after reinstalling Office 365 in a fully rebuilt machine for work, I can't see any items in my "Sent Items" folder.

Could this be because Outlook takes some time to sync emails from the server? I can still see them on my mobile version of Outlook just not on the installed PC version.

Is there any further precaution to take? Obviously sent items are much needed to continue working so I need to recover them asap.

Many thanks

What causes Outlook add-ins to not load on startup

Pretty basic question - what causes Outlook add-ins to not load on startup? We all know there are registry hacks to fix these issues, but I'd like to understand the root cause of the issues. Is it because Outlook is taking to long to load (maybe the user is connecting to too many calendars on open)? Is it because something on the PC is causing Outlook to load slowly, which in turn is causing it to not load certain plugins?

In our organization, we have users who randomly have this issue, and it would be great to understand why it's happening. Adding the reg hack to force the plugin to load is a great workaround, but if Outlook is dumping that plugin to preserve a good user experience, the hack is only adding to whatever is causing Outlook to dump the plugin in the first place.

This one has got me stumped, can't find anything online about it. So basically, I have a user, uses Outlook 2019 but this happened previously when she was using Outlook 2010 also, Exchange 2013, Active Directory, Windows 10 environment. When she views certain contacts, the contact info shown in the display window is different than the contact she has selected. The example I've attached shows a contact for Vincent Pocino, it shows his email and office number, but on the right it shows the name Tom Hienze. Sometimes when she sends email to people, it shows the name of someone in her contact list, but the email went to someone in the Global Address List. I attached another example of this, Sent To shows a Tom Hartman (a Contact) but when you click on the name, it shows the actual person it went to, Maureen (another Exchange User in the Domain).

I can export her Contacts to a .PST file, open it, and they look normal, even in her own Outlook. I deleted all of her contacts and re-imported them from the normal looking .PST file, and they're all jacked up again.

I had her change her Contacts View to Address Card or Business Card and they all appear to be fine. I don't know yet if this will have any affect on her sending an email to one person and a totally different person showing up in the Sent field.

I was previously able to open and use Outlook Customer Manager in Office 365, but for some time now when I attempt to open the add-in, I get the cryptic error message "Something went wrong". I read other posts on this error message and followed the suggestion to clear the IE browser cache (even though I use Chrome). Didn't help. Any potential solutions would be appreciated. Thanks

Hello, I just spent about 2 hours online and on the phone with Microsoft support with no results. I'm hoping I fare better here!

From Outlook (version 1906) I subscribe to an internet calendar and all the appointments/events in this calendar are displayed as one hour later than the actual time. All my other calendars are fine. Just this one is displayed incorrectly.

Big clue: When the calendar is loading there are Send/Receive errors, that claim the TZID or time zone is unrecognized. Here is one of the errors:

Task 'Internet Calendar Subscriptions' reported error (0x0004001B) : 'The VEVENT, "Holiday Concert (#2)", defined near line 187, contains a property that references an undeclared time zone with a TZID of "America/Los_Angeles". Outlook found an approximate replacement, but note that some of your appointments may be off by an hour. Double-click to open this item.'

In fact, all of the appointments are off by an hour.

How do I get Outlook to recognize "America/Los_Angeles" as a valid time zone? I assume that's the root cause to this problem... yes?

Help!!! Thank you!!

FYI, in case you have access to this: my case number at Microsoft Support was 1478060928, and it is not resolved!

Many offices are switching to the 50 or 55m hour meeting, and I can change the default duration to make this easier. Unfortunately human nature is what it is - there's always one more thing to use up that time, and the rule often gets trampled in practice.

The reverse is generally not true. I've found that starting meetings 5m late works beautifully to self-enforce the same idea. But I can't find a way to get Outlook to do this as a default - set a meeting start time to 5 or 35m past the hour. Is there a way to do this in the config, via VBA, or some such?

Thanks...

Centralize Contact Management in a small organization

Hi!

This is a cross post with:

https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Exchange/Restrict-user-to-only-create-edit-Mail-Contacts-user-sees/m-p/756512#M3703

I'm looking for a way to centralize contact management in a small organization. As an example: an assistant is asked to digitalize business cards. These contacts then need to be available to multiple people in the organization. Copying it to everyones Personal Contacts (in their exchange mailbox) would be weird I guess.

Normally, and in every other organization I would think of Outlook Customer Manager. In this specific use case though, the company is only using Outlook on Mac and I found out that Outlook Customer Manager is missing lots of features compared to it's Windows counterpart.

My next guess is the Global Address List. But it's management is hard. Only done in the Exchange Admin Center.... and it's not very user friendly. But it will do if GAL is the way to go.

So, what is your advise in a Windows based organization (90% of my customers) and what in an Apple based organization?

(third party suggestions are welcome, but would like to know Microsofts way to go)
