Is there anyone who is using Intune MDM and outlook app. We are facing issue with email sync after the release. Not all user but atleast 50-60 users so far. Initialy only from German. Now from Americas as well. Anyone noticed this issue so far?

We found in our environment via trial and error that the REST calendar sharing preview only applies to instances of Office on the 'Monthly Channel (Targeted)' subscription. That's how it is for now until they decide to release the feature to regular Monthly Channel subscription.

If you have Office 365 with Targeted Release, you're good to go. If not, here's what we did to set it up:

- Set AAD user accounts 'StagedRolloutOne' on the ReleaseTrack attribute (Set-MsolUser -UserPrincipalName [UPN] -ReleaseTrack "StagedRolloutOne")

- Uninstall Office 365 from workstations assigned to those AAD accounts set for Targeted Release ("StagedRolloutOne")

- Install Office 365

- Verify by opening Outlook > File tab > Office Account > About Outlook and it should read "Monthly Channel (Targeted)." You should also see Version 1907 (or 1908 at this point).

- Set REST calendar sharing by going to Account Settings > [Primary Exchange Account] > More Settings > Advanced > Office 365 Features - check "Turn on shared calendar improvements (preview)."

We are testing select accounts with high activity on calendar scheduling. Here's one of the Office Support articles with detail on setting this up:

The ticket has already been escalated through our Premier Support Contact and our MS TAM. I would prefer not to share our organization's ticket numbers on this forum. I believe from Microsoft is also aware of this issue.

Our premier case has been open since beginning of August. The SFB issue is still not resolved. We were told that a new build will be applied to our tenant that will resolve the issue by 30th Sept. Unfortunately, it's now Oct 1st and SFB still isn't available or working in OWA. I'll let you know if we make any further progress.

We had SFB on-prem IM & presence working with the 'old look'. We can't add SFB meeting links to events either.

I like and use Dark Mode (version 4.3.1 on iOS), but I have noticed a little problem with setting signatures per account. It is black on black.

What is bothering you exactly? In mobile Outlook you can set notifications to trigger only for Focused inbox, so you shouldn't be bothered by the clutter emails. Although I haven't used Focused on mobile myself, so not sure if this is completely silent.

Honestly though, if you are ok with unsubscribing from these sources, I would just do that and unsubscribe :)

Although I like the change from clutter folder to a tab in the inbox in my desktop client, it is extremely annoying on my mobile phone (Blackberry Key2). Inbox is the only folder I sync to my phone, so I did not see clutter emails until the change. Now all those emails are sent to my phone. Is there something I can configure to change this behavior? If not, I will have to unsubscribe all the clutter sources as the clutter now on my phone renders the phone almost useless!

And at last they say dev is working on it and the fix is going to be delivered on 2or 6weeks.

It's because of your report that this bug disappeared.

I saw the correction when i want to show it to my direction secretary this afternoon.

I tell her : look there is a bug, we know. but when I show her it works well :)

and I just wanted to provide a quick end of week update for you. The Open message from a shared mailbox in a new window has been fixed. The fix is still in the process of rolling out to everyone, however majority of you should have the fix. Everyone else should see it by Monday morning.

Horrible, someone needs to think about layout in a way the considers the travel time of the cursor for the next actions. Example I read an email and my focus an email body aligning right and the I now have to shift my focus to the far right and move my cursor all the way to the right top of the message. It sounds silly but it is important for the best UX.

I have users asking about the snooze as well. This was maybe THE most highly anticipated feature. But what is weird is that myself and other admins on first release still do not have this feature, but we have a couple of random associates that have had it since launch several weeks ago? I've tried clearing cache, private browsers, everything, but just can't get the option. This makes it difficult for us to alert our users about changes when we don't have it weeks after they already do. Any suggestions?

iOS 13? In the blog post they say:

And, to help optimize battery life, once iOS and Android devices support dark themes*, Outlook plans to automatically switch to Dark Mode based on their device settings in addition to Outlook in-app options.

*When iOS 13 and Android Q are available, Outlook is planning to automatically switch to dark theme based on those settings

Maybe this means when iOS 13 is final. Maybe then there will be an additional toggle or it will just use the system's setting. Not sure. Maybe roll out is still going and not all settings are deployed.

At least on Android it shows 3 settings: Light theme, Dark theme and System default. If you set the 3d one, then it follow what mode is turned on the system.

There is a preferences section in settings. It will appear eventually. They are updating every few days must not have reached you with rollout yet. But if it doesn’t switch on automatically with system dark mode it’s a bit pointless anyway

I am looking in the settings area of the Outlook app itself and not seeing it. is this not the right place to be looking for it? Dark mode is enabled on the iPad.

I have it enabled on iPhone XR iOS 13.2 but it doesn’t change automatically with system dark mode. I need to go in to app and switch it manually. It’s supposed to switch automatically right? Otherwise not very useful

I agree that's how it SHOULD be done. However, as many of us found out during the rollout of this update to Outlook web, when we tried to open tickets or discuss with support they said the product wasn't forced yet and was still in progress, etc. If you look on uservoice a lot of it is new features but a lot is bugs as well. Since the rollout is spread over a couple of months, I think it's hard for users to know when to switch over to use support and for what, specifically. But you are correct, in theory!

UserVoice is for feature requests. You should open tickets with support about bugs, which this is. Microsoft's support quality is another issue in its own.. I guess there is no harm to also post it in UserVoice, but at least for mobile Outlook they close such reports and ask to contact support.

We've seen the same thing, and tried to report it, but no progress. I couldn't find anything in the user voice where it had been reported so I made a suggestion, but it hasn't gotten much traction. Now I see there are a couple of others saying the same thing, so I voted for those too. Maybe some extra votes would push it along.

A big problem with this update. We can not open a message from another mailbox now.

We open the other mailbox with "my account" > "open another mailbox" then when you double click on a message it reopens the mailbox entire in another new page but not the message.

My collègue will open a case to the support this morning but it's very embarrassing cause all our service have a shared mailbox.

I got the dark mode update, but it's now forcing my home screen widgets (both email list and calendar) to also be in dark mode, which I don't want. But there are no options in the app to choose if the widget shows dark or light mode. Even if the main app is in light mode, the widget is still dark. Please fix this.

[Update : The widget is tied to the system's mode. If Android is on night mode, then the widget will turn dark and vice versa. For now if I want the system to be on night mode and the widget to be light mode, I have to first set android to light mode, create the widget in light mode, and then change the android system back to night mode. However, the widget reverts back to dark mode upon reboot. Would still like to have an option to be independent of the system's night mode]

After reading first reply here about it working i i checked the settings and it was there. Worked at once without having to reset the app or cache. Pixel 1 XL, Android 10.

It also works ok with System default setting and turns dark automatically when battery saver or Dark theme is enabled (new in Android 10). I don't know what "night mode" means. Night light is actually a different thing.

The option showed up for me sometime last night or this morning, and it is working. Request for the developers though.... On Android can you please tie the option to the OS' own Night Mode setting. I think when people want dark mode or not they want it in every app that they can. One global setting is ideal. Best not to send users into every single application to toggle it. Of course it would also be nice if Microsoft Office responded the color mode of Windows 10, and didn't have its own to sett/change.

Please, if you are going to "roll out" features the roll them out with different version numbers like you do for OneDrive and other "rolling" software. I'm still on 4.0.4 (345) which is the same version that didn't have dark mode yesterday.

When I got the notice that you had replied, I went to my phone force stopped the Outlook app, then cleared cash storage for it before re-launching it. And I'm thrilled to say tha now I see the option, and it does work! At least for me, on my Google Pixel 3 (not xl).

It's still stupid that I had to keep checking day after day for days and days despite already having the update that supposedly enables it. Really bad and botched rollout of a highly sought after feature.

It appears that i have the same issue as many. My outlook was working fine yesterday until around 3pm then i was logged out asked to enter my password and i just end up getting the same message 'sign in with google browser". Now becoming frustrated. Uninstalled and reinstalled outlook.

on Android Note9. The Google Play store says the current version has Dark Mode, the FAQ in the app itself explains how to turn on Dark Mode. Yet I have no dark mode under preferences as indicated. The Play Store and the app itself say they are both version 4.0.4.

So even if I'm fully updated and the app release notes has the lie about containing dark mode, my only option is to continuously and compulsively go into the settings and scroll around hoping that I might find the setting? In March, we announced that we would have a preview to support AMP for email in Outlook.com by summer. Today, we are happy to announce that we have entered the developer preview phase. Support for the format has been rolled out but it is turned off by default. Any email sender interested in trying their AMP emails in Outlook.com can turn it on for their mailbox for testing purposes.

Additionally, senders can register now to send AMP emails to their customers in the near future.

And you will get the same reply about staged rollout. This is what i found unnerving recently. MS is switching to releasing new versions not tying to version numbers. Same is happening with current Insider builds of Windows 10 19H2 update. You may receive a new build with new features, but this features are turned off. How the hell IT and regular users should orient now when versions doesn't mean anything? Look into a magic bowl or something?..

I have recieved no more than 4 updates to the android outlook app since the dark mode announcement. Every time the changelog has stated : dark mode is available and so on, but even so, its still not here.. note 9

Hello! Thanks for your patience -- we're still in the process of rolling out. You're doing the right thing by keeping your app up to date. Your devices are not yet lined up to receive the update however (even if you have the right version of the app) -- Once it has, you will see a Dark Mode toggle in Outlook for iOS under Preferences and in Outlook for Android you can choose a Dark Theme under Preferences. When you see the toggle option you will know that your device has been updated with the Dark Mode feature.

Hi Sahil, I'm not sure what you mean. I'm talking about this feature that was there for the past 10 years and now isn't. The "Directory", which is just another name for the address list.

This new version of OWA has been deployed to our tenant and now we have no Skype/IM chat functionality in OWA anymore. Is there any ETA when this will be resolved (we've opened a Premier Support case on this also and they are still trying to figure out the issue, 3 weeks later). In addition, the new OWA is now displaying a "Get Add-Ins" option behind the ... button in every email. We have deployed a custom Role Assignment Policy which removes all of the User Roles that allow users to install/manage add-ins (we manage adds-in via centralised deployment and all add-ins must be reviewed and approve before installation). The old OWA version respected the custom Role Assignment Policy and did not show any options to install or manage add-ins. But new OWA does not respect our policy, which is a poor user experience. Users can now see the option to install add-ins, although the Role Assignment Policy still prevents them from being able to install add-ins (error: "Access is denied. Please contact your administrator"). How can we disable or hide this "Get Add-Ins" option in the new OWA?

My app updated to version 30.137 and the release notes say "Dark Mode". When I launch Outlook the Splash Screen is Black but then once I am inside of outlook it's not dark. Running Android Q beta 6 with System wide Dark mode enabled. Is there a Toggle anywhere?

You can use groups on Outlook.com to create a shared distribution list and access a group inbox with archived emails, shared files, and a group calendar. Groups allows you to connect, coordinate, and contribute to a shared purpose, all in one place.

Outlook.com service users can create and manage a group, while anyone with an email address can participate, including users with a Gmail or Yahoo email address. To create a group, sign in to your Outlook.com account and in the left-hand panel under “Groups”, select “New Group”.

We are rolling this out worldwide on Outlook.com and expect all users to have access by the end of August 2019 with expanded support to create a group in mobile in Fall of 2019.

, yes, I already have that on (View -> Layout section -> Use Tighter Spacing). It definitely helps, but still doesn't compress the header down to the size from before the changes to the UI.

Is there any way to have the Ribbon completely hidden like before the update?

Is there any way to have one Window with the Ribbon completely hidden or at least in Compact mode and other Windows still showing the full Ribbon?

You can save space in From, To, Cc field via View - Use compact view i think it is called. It also compresses spaces between emails in the list of emails.

We're thrilled you're excited to get Outlook for iOS and Android in Dark Mode. We just started to roll out the app in iOS and Android on 8/28, it will take several weeks to propagate through the app stores worldwide. There is a small chance you might need to restart your app to see the changes but more likely the update has not yet reached your device. If you see the Dark Mode option in Settings under Preferences, then you've got it. If not, please be patient.

Still waiting to view group calendars. I tried adding the group email to my calendars but it said "group calendars not supported at this time". I really need it for work and it is a big disappointment.

, sorry for the long delay. I had not seen your comment before. You may have long since figured this out, but to get the full Ribbon Bar back, just click the little drop down caret in the lower right corner of the ribbon. That toggles between full and compact Ribbon. Changing in any one window will now change all windows (it used to only change it for that one window and instead toggle between showing and hiding the Ribbon).

Unfortunately, Microsoft has now pushed this fully live for me too. My original problems are still there:

1. No longer possible to have full Ribbon on some windows and collapsed Ribbon on others.

2. The Header (From, To, CC, BCC) section is still enormous compared to the prior UI (may not be so bad for people who don't use From or BCC -- I can disable BCC, but I can't get rid of the From, because I have multiple accounts, which I need to use regularly). For meetings, where it adds start and end times, it takes up almost the whole window. I can't find any way to make this more compact.

3. No longer any way to hide the Ribbon altogether. Ironically, this more "compact" Ribbon actually takes up MORE screen space, because I can't hide it like I could hide the old Ribbon bar.

For me, all 3 of those are significant UI downgrades, but I'd also admit none of them really affect functionality. The worst part is that on my smallest monitor, I keep the calendar at full screen all the time on Week view (each day gets its own column). Because I can't shrink that Ribbon without also going to the "Compact" Ribbon on all Outlook windows (and even if I do that, because it's no longer possible to fully hide it, it still takes up more screen real estate in the Calendar window), I can no longer see my whole workday vertically in Outlook Calendar. That genuinely hurts my ability to use Outlook and be productive through the day.

Frustrating that I reported all of these things during the trial period and Microsoft proceeded to force this destructive UI change on us with no apparent option to revert or otherwise address the very real problems it causes.

Is this only available when account is from Office/Microsoft 365? I have the same version on both Pixel XL 1st gen (Android 9) and Samsung S9 and dark mode only is available on Samsung.

P.S. Pixel - personal IMAP server, Samsung - work O365 account.

Hi,

I installed today Outlook V4.0.0 on iOS 13.1 Public Beta 1 and Dark Theme in Outlook is not working.

I´ve setup my iPhone to Dark Mode but Outlook is still light.

Any suggestions?

I just wanted to ask a few follow-ups about your question regarding images with no extensions. When you mention that you don't see these images, are you referring to the attachment list or in the side by side view? Any chance you can share a screenshot of what issue you are seeing?

All our users are displayed in the Directory with the LastName, FirstName format. However now when typing the user in the To: field to search the directory, it interpret the coma after the LastName as the return key and does not permit me to continue typing the FirstName. The only workaround that I found was to then click back on "Babineau" to edit the entry and continue typing ", Rene".

I am also really, really loving what you guys are doing with Outlook on the Web. However, I am also mostly using the desktop client and having some really huge mailboxes, it is quite sluggish on my Surface Pro when on the Go. So I would really love for Outlook on the Web to become an installable PWA or, even better yet, make it available on the Windows Store. I would instantly replace the desktop client for most of my work.

If img tag don't have image extension(jpg, png etc), we can't see the image in new outlook web.

We could see the image without image extension in classic version outlook web.

Please fix this issue.

This is really great functionality, but I would guess like most organisations the vast majority of our users only ever use the Outlook desktop client and not the browser. Is there a timeline for rolling out these new features to the desktop client?

Anyone else notice that the "Try the new Outlook" changes have been applied, and that there is no way to flick between the current and new feature set... as the new feature set has now been applied as prod.

Key thing for us is that the "Copy link to Conversation" is now gone, and instead each O365 conversation now has a unique GUID based URL for it. So you simply seem to copy the link from the address bar. Slight pain to change training content... but overall, likely quicker way to access the URL to that email.

I saw the new version today as a total surprise. Somehow, if a collegue gave me access only to his inbox (and not complete mailbox access), I will see his name but no folder will display underneath. Also, it seems on my end that we can "return" to the old version by clicking the Calendar icon at the bottom left of the screen (in Dark Mode for example) which will open the Calendar in a new tab (no good, would like this to be optional) and in that new tab, if I click on the enveloppe to return to my mailbox, it will return in my previous theme and version (so no Dark mode, previous option placement, etc...) Doesn't look like it was fully ready for release.

Just supporting the comments here about the address book - this is an issue for us as we have a combined tenancy that includes staff and students. Using the Outlook Desktop App, and the Global Address List does not include students. Previously, though, you could find students via Outlook for the Web, but no without the Address Book this is not an option.

So when is directory browsing going to be available in the new UI.

It would seem to me that basic functionality would take a higher precedence over new, 'nice to have' features like snooze.

Can you please suggest what we are supposed to tell our 200+ employees to do when they don't know someone's email address? Search results are (and always have been on Office365) incomplete and totally unpredictable, and now with this new interface, users can no longer browse the company directory.

Office365 is still a "business product", right? It sure doesn't feel that way when basic functionality is completely lost in favor of new UI "doo-dads".

I tried it today for kicks... contact lists shows something different every time I go to it, and if I click on any of the lists, they say "This doesn't look right."

No, Microsoft, it doesn't look right... maybe you better give this until later in the year before you try to push it on everyone.

It's August now and the address book is still unavailable.

The distribution list settings are now available but painstakingly slow to load. And the could be more accessible. Why aren't they managed the same way as Office 365 Groups are?

This is how it should look like.

Also, please consider using consolidated naming conventions. It should be called distribution list. They were renamed already some time ago to better distinguish between traditional Distribution Lists and Office 365 Groups.

Yet in the new Outlook they are still named Distribution ~~Groups~~

I like Willem Bast's comment to have an ergonomic expert look at the UI. Also recommend having a lean expert review it for efficient workflow.

Can someone from Microsoft comment about why these changes were needed? What wasn't working?

The changes are what I consider "artful" and are not improvements to get work done. What was the goal of these changes?

I saw you mentioned more functionality for Calendar reminders, but right now our users get NO reminders for calendars at all, even "in app" reminders that they used to get. Obviously this is a big issue since you can set reminders, and in Outlook web that's literally the only way to get them right now.

In the Dutch (Nederlands) language version the Reply, Reply all etc. buttons cover the senders e-mail address:

I did not change my preview pane width and did not have this problem with the previous interface.

Small company here. The 1907 update arrived this morning when people (re-)started their Office programs. I'm the person responsible for IT. Nobody offered to bring be coffee today :(

Dear @Outlook Team, we do not use touchscreens, and we never will. Even with tighter spacing, it looks terrible. And the address and subject fields are no longer boxes, but (way too) thin lines. Did you ever have an ergonomist look at this?

And again: we absolutely HATE these changes arriving unannounced in the middle of a busy working day. We are in this office to get our own core business done, not to get new "experiences" from Microsoft every month.
