Hi. I was wondering if anyone has recently came across the BCC field is missing from sent emails when its external contacts?

Have tried many different options from Google suggestions along with trying to add it in via Developer mode etc and can not get the BCC to appear at all. This is happening for myself and many other users within the organisation. Seems to have happened randomly recently and unable to get to the bottom of it.

Unable to view it within Outlook or OWA. When sending emails to internal users via BCC they appear without issue, happening only with external.

Thanks

Would need a bit more of your script. But generally you’d do something like this:

$Mailboxes = Import-CSV .\mailboxes.csv
ForEach ($Mailbox in $Mailboxes) {
// Insert the code above but replace SingleImport with Mailbox
}

On mobile right now, so can’t make it pretty etc.

Hi,

I've finally found the solution.
There are quite a few scripts available now but I wanted to create my own to alert when the count of consumed licenses is getting close to or at 0. I wouldn't expect anyone to be keeping more than 1 or 2 licenses free in a tenant (depending on the size of the org of course). Who wants to pay for stuff you are not using? In fact I think MS should look at allowing a negative buffer so that clients do not have to always have '1 or more spare'; let's face it that is forcing someone to pay for something they are not using yet right? Anyway...

The best way to run this is by creating an Azure Automation account (the future of task scheduler =). In my script I use a free SendGrid account to send the email alert on port 587 (you cannot use outbound 25 from Azure without special permission), although now you can also add the SendGrid solution in Azure, then call it with variables as a playbook from an automation script (I haven't crossed that bridge yet!). The email is not very pretty in basic text format, but it does the job. You can easily schedule it in the automation account to run every hour or whatever suits your requirement. As in the notes it is easily modifiable to alert when free licenses get low or high or both. Hope it helps someone.

https://www.howdoiuseacomputer.com/index.php/2021/09/12/azure-microsoft-365-licensing-alert/

Hi,

My daughters laptop was becoming pretty much unusable so I formatted it over the weekend. When connecting it back to her Microsoft account, I then learnt that she was part of some Family Group associated with an Organizer that I have no idea where it has come from, it's some random gmail.com account and name I've never seen, and to make things worse it seems my son is also in this group.

Because they are children, they can not click on anything that allows them to remove themselves from the family group.

I then escalated a case to Microsoft (1028218745) and was informed there is literally no way to manually remove my childrens account from some foreign family group, and the actual recommendation from a supervisor that they close their account and create a new one.

Now I understand the security conundrum here, that the whole idea of a Family Account is that children can't remove themselves from it. But this also introduces a pretty major security issue that any malicious person out there could request kids join a random family group and if the kids were to accept the request to join, then there are pretty much stuck there for good.

Surely there is a way to address this? The Office365 support stuck to the script and pretty much said can't do anything manually at all. Things can always be done manually, its a matter of whether people are willing to do so, and at this time I can't find anyone in Microsoft who is willing to do it.

Recommendations?

I just want my son to have Office on his laptop but without all my documents (word, excel etc etc) For some reason all my docs seemed to transfer over to his laptop when I used the 25 digit key. Maybe it's a one-drive thing....I don't know.

I continue to have this issue off and on. I was told by my help desk support that it had to do with mouse drivers, so i replaced my mouse with a wired mouse (which oddly worked...) but that is just too cumbersome sometimes.

Is there a reliable fix for this yet? I have even gone into Outlook options and selected General/Attachment Options/"Always share them as links", then rebooted....and when I have it all up and running again it still attaches a copy and not a link, without giving me an option.

This is a fundamental issue that needs to be fixed. I don't want my org sending a million duplicates of files when the whole point of O365 is to collab in one space whenever possible.

Project Online sounds like the optimal solution for what you are asking.

If not, I would suggest that if you are wanting a document repository, use SharePoint Online. While there are some creative ways of using the file explorer to access SharePoint Online, you will have it available through the Microsoft 365 Apps via the SharePoint linking available.

Just some of my thoughts off the top of my head. I would really sit down with your end users and get a list of what features they want to keep and what they cannot live without. That will help you define which way you will go.

One of our users is repeatedly being asked to add email senders to his safe list in Outlook on the web. He sees a standard message like this across the top of his screen whenever he receives an email from a new sender:

He has been clicking the 'trust content' link (and therefore adding senders to the list) for about three months since the issue apparently started but has now run out of room in that safe list because he has approx 1000 entries.

Rather than simply increase the space in this list (if that's even possible), how can I establish why he is having to do this with every person/business that writes to him the first time. In some cases there are attachments or links in those emails but other times they just contain text so I'm not sure what Microsoft believes it has blocked. I don't think this is an issue with safe attachments or safe links, the mails usually arrive in his Inbox as opposed to Junk and he hasn't set any junk email filters.

We have a Microsoft 365 Standard package plus Defender for Office 365 Plan 1 subscription. No one else in our organisation is facing this issue on every new senders email they receive which suggests the problem isn't being caused by a global setting.

In Appointments, the Tag group on the Toolbar, does not have categories available, see "Categories Capture" . I like to color code my appointments. I have tried to add categories to the toolbar, see "Categories2 Capture". They added alright but don't show up as being available. How can I get Categories added to the toolbar? I am using Office 365 at home from my employer.

Migrating Shared Drives : Sharepoint or OneDrive

Hello,

The situation: several hundreds shared drives which are automatically created based on information in a Project Management System (think of a project with a name and list of employees working on it).

Only the employees working on the project can have access to folder associated to the project.
All employees have same access rights then : write access

Access rights to folder are sync with the project staffing

As the company is migrating to Office 365 we needs to replicate that mechanism whereby when a new project is created a space to manage the project documents shall be created

Users are used to accessing the documents through the windows explorer and they want to keep it like it. There is no metadata associated to the files. project folders can contains up to several hundreds MB of data.

I understand onedrive is a personal drive but can be used to share documents to others. I also hear that the folder is owned by an employee, which is not the case in the use case described above.

On the other side SharePoint can seems to be overkill as the users do not care about metadata and web access.

The ability to edit concurrently a document is required.

So, SharePoint or OneDrive as the target solution?

Thanks,

Frank

Hi Vasil,
I think I've tried assigning permissions from the root to the subfolder. I did it using OWA and without assigning delegation permissions to the user, because if I set the delegation, full access to all the folders hierarchy was applyed. I will try again. The problem to test it is the delay, the changes are not applied inmediately.
Thank you very much!!
Jose

Yes you can, either use the client (both Outlook and OWA) or PowerShell (Add-MailboxFolderPermission). One thing to keep in mind is that you need to grant at least "viewer" permissions on each folder in the path to the folder you're sharing, including the "root" one.

Unable to utilize rules for email aliases when sending from same domain.

I found this article which also describes the issue at hand. It seems that applying rules to an email alias will not work on the same domain. I'm looking for suggestions to how else I might achieve my goals.

I'm developing a workflow to process packing slips. I've created an account scannerATcompany.com to use with our ScanSnap scanner. Scanned documents will be sent to this account's OneDrive which triggers a PowerAutomate workflow.
For employees who don't have access to the scanner, we want them to email a photo of a packing slip. We have several offices which all have their own SharePoint sites where these packing slips need to be processed. So, for example, the NY office would email newyork.packingslipATcompany.com (an alias for scannerATcompany.com). The exchange rule would move any emails with attachments addressed to newyork.packingslipATcompany.com to the NYPackingSlip email folder. This would trigger a PowerAutomate workflow specific to that folder and begin the process of moving the file to the New York SharePoint site.
Ultimately, I want to use one user account to trigger five different PowerAutomate workflows. I just don't really see how I can make this work without creating five different email accounts; which seems overkill and expensive for our needs.

On June 30, 2022, Azure AD and Microsoft Online Services cmdlets will stop working for license management. The result is that you need to upgrade PowerShell scripts which use these cmdlets. The choice is to use Graph API calls or cmdlets from the Microsoft Graph PowerShell SDK. In this article, we explore the steps necessary to upgrade a script to remove service plans from an Office 365 license (SKU).

How to Manage Anonymized User Data in Microsoft 365 Usage Reports

The usage reports available in the Microsoft 365 admin center, Teams admin center, and other places now include anonymized user information by default. The new default became active on September 1, 2021 and the organization setting applies to any usage data generated by the Microsoft Graph usage reports API, which means that some scripts might create reports less interesting and useful than before. It’s a good change for privacy, but will organizations persist with the new default?

I've set up the use of Azure MFA for our organization using the Conditional Access Policies. We tested this to ensure it works as expected with a handful of users, and are planning to roll it out more widely as we simultaneously roll out MDM using Intune.

I have a couple users who have been using the Authenticator app to validate their logins, and they've been getting the Approve/Deny prompt. However, now that we've enrolled their phones in Intune, they are instead getting a 'choose the matching number' prompt instead.

We are not configured for Passwordless login (it's on the list to look into, but we're just not there yet), so I know that's not it, and these are the same users who were getting just the approval request before. Is this expected behavior once their phone is in Intune, or can anyone tell me if there something else that might cause this issue?

Unless they remove the domain from the associated tenant, there’s not much you can do yourself. You could try and reach out to Microsoft Support to see if they can arrange this if you provide proof of ownership, but I’ve never really tried this. It’s probably best to see if you can convince the partner, in the end I assume you own the domain name so they could face issues if they do not hand it over.

Why Microsoft’s Workload-Agnostic Retention Strategy Sometimes Comes Up Short for Email

Microsoft would like Office 365 tenants to use Microsoft 365 retention policies instead of Exchange Online mailbox retention policies. Their stance is reasonable because Microsoft’s engineering effort is focused on workload-agnostic retention across the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. However, mailbox retention policies continue to offer some advantages that aren’t available in the Microsoft 365 equivalent. And they’re cheaper too because they don’t need Office 365 E3 or E5 licenses.

Teams online and One drive online will not ask you for password change, as they are being synced but Teams client and OneDrive client will ask you for credentials again as they are clients. For OneDrive you may have to go to Credentials Manager and remove the old credentials and then may sync again for updated changes.

No solution, happens about every other day, MS does not seem to care. Curious, do you have a paid version of Outlook365 (subscription). They are pushing that at $99/year. I already paid $400 for MS Office, so thought I didn't need this.

Microsoft is applying their Viva brand to the features currently known as MyAnalytics. Viva Insights will span a monthly email digest, the Outlook insights add-on, and the Insights dashboard. If you don’t want users to access these features, you can disable the features individually or remove the service plan from user licenses. The rebranding is happening now and due to complete in November.
