BCC missing from emails - External contacts only

Hi. I was wondering if anyone has recently came across the BCC field is missing from sent emails when its external contacts?

Have tried many different options from Google suggestions along with trying to add it in via Developer mode etc and can not get the BCC to appear at all. This is happening for myself and many other users within the organisation. Seems to have happened randomly recently and unable to get to the bottom of it.

Unable to view it within Outlook or OWA. When sending emails to internal users via BCC they appear without issue, happening only with external.

- Unfortunately this feature is only available for Microsoft 365 subscribers who host email on Microsoft's cloud service. We currently host email internally, so this can't be enabled. Sorry about that

This seems a bit odd to me that it would be limited to this. Does anyone have any experience enabling this on an internal service?

Hey Guys,

I am trying to create a powershell script that will create a mailbox rule in each users mailbox, based on an input list.

Here is what i have so far:

New-InboxRule -Mailbox $SingleImport.PrimarySMTPAddress -From user.name@extdomain.com -MyNameInToBox $True -SubjectContainsWords '["Receipt Copy"] Hello' -Name EmailRule -MoveToFolder $SingleImport.PrimarySMTPAddress:\"Sent Items"

My input list has a single Column:

I am getting this error when trying to run the script:

A positional parameter cannot be found that accepts argument ':\Sent Items'.

When you have an web only environment (E1) you can not see the content in excel.

only with the standard editors of windows.

Children associated with some random Family Group and can't be removed

Hi,

My daughters laptop was becoming pretty much unusable so I formatted it over the weekend. When connecting it back to her Microsoft account, I then learnt that she was part of some Family Group associated with an Organizer that I have no idea where it has come from, it's some random gmail.com account and name I've never seen, and to make things worse it seems my son is also in this group.

Because they are children, they can not click on anything that allows them to remove themselves from the family group.

I then escalated a case to Microsoft (1028218745) and was informed there is literally no way to manually remove my childrens account from some foreign family group, and the actual recommendation from a supervisor that they close their account and create a new one.

Now I understand the security conundrum here, that the whole idea of a Family Account is that children can't remove themselves from it. But this also introduces a pretty major security issue that any malicious person out there could request kids join a random family group and if the kids were to accept the request to join, then there are pretty much stuck there for good.

Surely there is a way to address this? The Office365 support stuck to the script and pretty much said can't do anything manually at all. Things can always be done manually, its a matter of whether people are willing to do so, and at this time I can't find anyone in Microsoft who is willing to do it.

Recommendations?

Repeated requests to add new senders to safe list

One of our users is repeatedly being asked to add email senders to his safe list in Outlook on the web. He sees a standard message like this across the top of his screen whenever he receives an email from a new sender:

He has been clicking the 'trust content' link (and therefore adding senders to the list) for about three months since the issue apparently started but has now run out of room in that safe list because he has approx 1000 entries.

Rather than simply increase the space in this list (if that's even possible), how can I establish why he is having to do this with every person/business that writes to him the first time. In some cases there are attachments or links in those emails but other times they just contain text so I'm not sure what Microsoft believes it has blocked. I don't think this is an issue with safe attachments or safe links, the mails usually arrive in his Inbox as opposed to Junk and he hasn't set any junk email filters.

We have a Microsoft 365 Standard package plus Defender for Office 365 Plan 1 subscription. No one else in our organisation is facing this issue on every new senders email they receive which suggests the problem isn't being caused by a global setting.

Last night I I used the microsoft key and all worked well......however, I suddenly noticed all my docs then appeared on his laptop !!! categories not in tag group

I have tried to add categories to the toolbar, see "Categories2 Capture". They added alright but don't show up as being available. How can I get Categories added to the toolbar? The issue we have is when we use teams or teamviewer to help the employee troubleshoot - azure kicks our the external party. How do we get around this - we have remote locations and can not easily get to all employees to help them.

OneDrive business not loading - No blue cloud in system tray

Howdy,

I have setup 4 user's laptops (Windows 10) on our new Office 365 Business Standard package.

All laptops use the same email address for Microsoft personal & business accounts.

(we get the prompt "Work/School or Personal" when accessing Microsoft online)

According to a Microsoft support person this is what they are encouraging now.

3 setups work perfectly, have both blue & white clouds in the system tray (for business & personal files) with "OneDrive" and "OneDrive - <our domain name>" folders in explorer and c:\users\<username>.

1 laptop is refusing to load OneDrive business.

No blue cloud in system tray.

No "OneDrive - <our domain name>" folder in explorer or c:\users\<username>.

I have tried reinstalling OneDrive (from https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/microsoft-365/onedrive/download)

I have tried reinstalling Office 365 (from www.office.com)

No change.

I haven't tried the "Add an account" button in the OneDrive personal settings yet.

Could this work?

Migrating Shared Drives : Sharepoint or OneDrive

Hello,

The situation: several hundreds shared drives which are automatically created based on information in a Project Management System (think of a project with a name and list of employees working on it).

Only the employees working on the project can have access to folder associated to the project.
All employees have same access rights then : write access

Access rights to folder are sync with the project staffing

As the company is migrating to Office 365 we needs to replicate that mechanism whereby when a new project is created a space to manage the project documents shall be created

Users are used to accessing the documents through the windows explorer and they want to keep it like it. There is no metadata associated to the files. project folders can contains up to several hundreds MB of data.

I understand onedrive is a personal drive but can be used to share documents to others. I also hear that the folder is owned by an employee, which is not the case in the use case described above.

On the other side SharePoint can seems to be overkill as the users do not care about metadata and web access.

The ability to edit concurrently a document is required.

So, SharePoint or OneDrive as the target solution?

Unable to utilize rules for email aliases when sending from same domain.

I found this article which also describes the issue at hand. It seems that applying rules to an email alias will not work on the same domain. I'm looking for suggestions to how else I might achieve my goals.

I'm developing a workflow to process packing slips. I've created an account scannerATcompany.com to use with our ScanSnap scanner. Scanned documents will be sent to this account's OneDrive which triggers a PowerAutomate workflow.
For employees who don't have access to the scanner, we want them to email a photo of a packing slip. We have several offices which all have their own SharePoint sites where these packing slips need to be processed. So, for example, the NY office would email newyork.packingslipATcompany.com (an alias for scannerATcompany.com). The exchange rule would move any emails with attachments addressed to newyork.packingslipATcompany.com to the NYPackingSlip email folder. This would trigger a PowerAutomate workflow specific to that folder and begin the process of moving the file to the New York SharePoint site.
Ultimately, I want to use one user account to trigger five different PowerAutomate workflows. I just don't really see how I can make this work without creating five different email accounts; which seems overkill and expensive for our needs.

Is it possible to set custom permissions to users/mailboxes over the folders/subfolders in a shared mailbox. If I add the users as members of the shared mailbox, they have full permissions over all the folder and subfolders. I want to avoid that some users could see, read or write some foldres/subfolders.

Spam Filter Issue

We are being spammed by a bunch of computers that seem to have some virus. We receive an email with (No Subject) in the subject line and an attachment every 10 minutes.

Its not possible to create a rule specific to (No Subject) . We cannot create a rule to delete any email with a blank subject.

What is a workaround to delete any emails with no actual subject or (No Subject) in the subject line?

Migrate from Exchange on prem to Office 365 with heavy email

I need to migrate an onprem old Exchange server to a new mail server.

All users are already using Office 365, but have not currently set up email with Exchange Online.

Migrating from Exchange onprem to Exchange Online wouldn't be a problem, but the user experience could be the main limitation.

Every day most of people of the organization send a lot of email with high resolutions photos as attachment.

Now, with onprem Exchange users aren't experiencing any particular issues as they delegate the send-receive activity to their onprem exchange server and their local Outlooks respond excellently.
Subsequently, however, the bulk of the weight would fall on the outlook of each user with a delay and an overload that could lead to functional hang.
Has anyone faced similar scenarios and have any suggestions on how to prevent the local outlook from becoming the bottleneck? Thanks in advance for any help or suggestion you should give me

Azure MFA w/ Authenticator - Some Users Getting Number Match Unexpectedly

I've set up the use of Azure MFA for our organization using the Conditional Access Policies. We tested this to ensure it works as expected with a handful of users, and are planning to roll it out more widely as we simultaneously roll out MDM using Intune.

I have a couple users who have been using the Authenticator app to validate their logins, and they've been getting the Approve/Deny prompt. However, now that we've enrolled their phones in Intune, they are instead getting a 'choose the matching number' prompt instead.

We are not configured for Passwordless login (it's on the list to look into, but we're just not there yet), so I know that's not it, and these are the same users who were getting just the approval request before. Is this expected behavior once their phone is in Intune, or can anyone tell me if there something else that might cause this issue?

Ediscovery Search Limits

Hi Everyone,

I have to run an eDiscovery Search across all 100k+ mailboxes with messages from a specific sender/ author AND with a specific Subject.

The issues is we have A3 licensing and we are limited to 10k mailboxes per search.

I have tried creating groups and importing a list of 10k users via CSV but my Powershell sessions either take FOREVER or times out.

Import-Csv -Path C:\StuGrp1.csv | foreach{Add-DistributionGroupMember -Identity StudentGroup1 -Member $_.Mail}

What other options to I have to run this type of search and bypass these limits? From what I am given I don't really have any options to limit my scope by anything else.

I also tired to search one month at a time but that still searches across 100k+ mailboxes.

Remove domain from reseller control

My current Microsoft 365 subscription is linked and managed by a Microsoft reseller. I'm not enjoying it's way to manage and support me, so i want to create a Microsoft 365 Business for my self, so I can manage it by my self.

Although when I try to create a Microsoft 365 with my domain, I receive an error message regarding that the domain is linked with another account, even though I have total control of the domain DNS.

The reseller refuses to delete my domain from his account. How can I proceed so I can manage my domain by my self? I have note for the administrator email.

Hola Estoy trabajando en mejorar la calidad del audio transmitido a travez de amateur radios & en la cancelacion de interferencias causadas por leds principalmente.

Este año estamos en la parte mas baja de la avtividad solar lo que dificulta la propagacion de las ondas radiales y hay dias en que no se puede uno comunicar.

Los filtros pasivos ayudan algo, pero ahora con la posibilidad de digitalizar el audio remover las partes de interferencia y volver a analogica la señal.

Es un proyecto que produce satisfacciones porque se logran resultados.

Hace unos meses encontre un dispositivo que su creador hizo hace mucho tiempo.

Puso 2 antenas, una para referencia y otra para transmision. aparte hizo un transformador donde las señales de las dos antenas estan en contrafase. Unos potenciometros y un amplificador atenuador para cada circuito.

Lo fantastico es que con practica uno logra anular una señal invirtiendo las fases.

Es increible lo que hacemos cuando debemos resolver un problema.

I have a question about OneDrive Storage space.

As Microsoft note that If your organization has a qualifying Microsoft 365 subscription and five (5) or more users, you can change the storage space to 5 TB and This storage space setting applies to all new and existing users regardless to OneDrive plan

So, if we have 5 users with OneDrive plan 1 license and 1 user with OneDrive plan 2 license, we can increate the default storage space to 5TB and it apply for every user. So in this case, 5 user with Plan 1 still can use over than 1TB?

Can you help us to understand that?

Add guest member to office 365 group - from outlook 2019

Is it possible to add an external guest member to an office 365 group from the outlook 2019 client , NOT the outlook web interface ?

We can add external members to groups from OWA , not when we try via outlook 2019 we get a message about this operation being prohibited due to organizational policy. As the admin I haven’t found any explicit setting to block guess group additions from only the outlook client, since we can add them via owa. Is this just a bad error message and it is impossible to add external group members via outlook , or is there some outlook client specific setting to allow this . No one in our organization uses owa, so it is cumbersome to have to connect to owa just for this purpose.

Outlook Version 2108 Shared Calendar Issue

We are having an issue with our Shared Calendars in outlook. On the left hand side where you have your calendars un-checked, they just keeping loading and removing theme selves. Sometimes this causes outlook to crash. I have tried going back to 2107 and it made things worse. Couldn't even go to calendar without Outlook crashing. I un-installed office, rebooted couple times, re-installed office 2108. This made my outlook more stable but still having issues with Shared Calendars removing theme selves/re-adding themselves. Even when you delete the calendars, the ones that were glitching before, will just re-appear.

This has happened with 5 employees so far. All have been here a long time with a lot of shared calendars on the left hand side.

Any additional info you need, let me know. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If I setup Microsoft ADFS in my environment with its all parameters so can my user inside organization will not prompt for password ? for example

If I am inside my company and authenticate with my local Active directory/ domain controller for my laptop and tried to open http://outlook.office365.com so i just need to enter my user account osama.mansoor@xcyz.com and then it will directly land me on Office365 portal page. Please correct me.

If I enabled MFA so in that case MFA access will be prompt.

However if i open http://outlook.office365.com outside my organization then ADFS page will appear and i need to enter user name and password or if i have enabled MFA so it will ask for MFA.

I would like to know how i can check a computer for any incompatible software before i run the Office 365 Install routine with Click2Run.

Situation:
I have here a few software developer with a lot of installed software (SQL Server, C++ routines etc.)
They use Office 2016, Visio 2016 and MS Project 2016 also (installed with .msi installers).

I know, when i want to install Office365 with Click2Run there will be a message that says that is not possible to install Click2Run and MSI products on the same machine i will have to uninstall Office 2016, Visio 2016 and MS Project 2016 first.

How can i preckeck if there are other incompatible products on the system before i uninstall anything ?

I do not want to remove Office 2016, Visio 2016 and Project 2016 and then see that there are a lot of other programms that are not compatible with Office365 click2run technology - these developer machines are quite complex and i do not want to crash these development environments because i had to uninstall a software to get Office365 to run.

Password Challenges in Microsoft Team

We are using the Office 365 Business Essentials Service for the last 7 Years.

We have the following Setup.

Office 365 is connected with Azure AD for Sync User Name and Password of Local Active Directory with Office 365 Azure. (Pass-through Authentication)
We have Domain Controller with Single Forest and Multiple Domain Controller
Users are Configured with Multifactor Authentication

Problem :

Some users are not happy when their local AD Password changes after 30 Days (As Per Organizational Policy) the Microsoft Challenges them to re-enter newly change AD Password in some cases and MFA prompt however Microsoft Outlook 2013 (Desktop Version) does not ask to re-enter password the reason could be we had to save Application Password (App Password).

Also, One Drive Sync Client also asks for a re-authentication like Microsoft Team

Question :

Is there any way so we can bypass this password prompt / MFA prompt once a user changes the local AD Password.

I have hybrid set up in place with azure ad connect. Pw write back is working.

I can change a users password on azure portal and the account on my on prem AD gets updated immediately with the option "change password at next log on" as well as the new pw. If a user attempts to log in to a domain joined pc, they get prompted to change their temp pw.

However, if i do this directly from office 365, and i'd prefer this since it generates a random password, nothing happens. The new password does not get synced to ad on prem nor the option "change pw at next log on"

Force Password Change On LogOn is set to enabled in azure ad. I've tried to force delta sync/import/full import etc, nothing.

Would appreciate your help.

Office 365 asking for credentials when trying to open file sent trough outlook

So i have these two excel files on onedrive wich i update everyday and use the graphs made in them to make a powerpoint presentation almost everyday, recently when i send the powerpoint to my colleagues and they try to open it, it asks them for credentials to access the excel file from where i took the graphs.

The thing is that when they sign in an error window appears saying that another user has the file open or that a file with the same name is open in the computer.

Its really anoying has anyone have any idea?

I am pulling Salesforce objects data via power query into an Excel 365 file kept in a sharepoint folder. Right now, to update the file at scheduled times, i have to open the online file in Excel App, refresh power query, then do some manipulations, calculations to the sheets and then save and close it. What i want to do is automate it:

Pull Salesforce data into the closed Excel file kept on Sharepoint using Javascript API, instead of Power Query.
Trigger multiple hourly/daily/weekly refreshes to Salesforce data.
Automate some manipulations, calculations in online closed Excel file using Javascript API once a refresh is complete.

Can someone help here on how this can be achieved?

In the desktop version of Word, Excel, etc., how can we pre-define a list of save locations (SharePoint sites, Teams file areas, etc.) for our users?

Users aren't very aware of our SharePoint site organization; we'd like to pre-set the 4 or 5 common SharePoint sites/libraries our users should be saving documents to so they don't have to browse for them. Can this be accomplished through group policy?

We're trying to drive user adoption of SharePoint and Teams sites, but users are finding them cumbersome to save documents to.

In our environment, we use the Spiceworks help desk system. Recently, we moved from their on-prem solution to the cloud solution which required us to modify our internal email address (helpdesk@domain) to forward to the new email address assigned by their system. Previously, their old solution would just accept the mail delivered to this account to create the service tickets. This has worked for about half the company but the others are having the email delivered to the inbox of that account, which I now have to monitor so I can manually create the tickets submitted. I've only been in this environment for a couple of years, but the accounts created are both ones I've created and ones that were created before my arrival. Also, there are numerous accounts I created that are working fine, meaning their emails are forwarded to the ticketing system.

Not sure where to start on this one. Any ideas?

As it turns out, this isn’t strictly true as there are places where administrative interfaces (GUI and PowerShell) block any attempt to use reserved aliases. Does this matter? Inserting a photo into photo frame clipart on Word 365

I have a question about inserting a jpg photo into photo frame clipart on Word 365. The frame clipart I would like to use has flowers and leaves that extend into the area where the photo goes. How do I properly position the photo so that it is behind these flowers and leaves? When I clicked "send to back" then the photo goes behind the frame image and can't be seen. I've tried "Send backward" and "Send behind text", neither of which do anything.

I've already spent a lot of time, using Paint 3d, on other similar frame-photo combos to remove the middle of the frame, but it gets time-consuming and tricky to try to eliminate the small spaces between the flowers and leaves. I was just wondering if there was another easier way to do it.

Cannot delete empty contacts folder

I have two contact folders named Contacts (This computer only - my email address.) One has my contacts and the other is empty. When I right click on the empty one, the option to Delete is grayed out. Why can't I delete this? Is there another way I can get rid of it? Thanks.

Sudden SMTP send failure to smtp.office365 dot com

We use BMC Track-It and we have it configured to send outbound emails to smtp.office365.com. This has worked since 2017. We use port 587 and SSL with authentication. The server runs Windows Server 2016. About a week ago, emails stopped sending. The email test button in Track-It results with -- Failure sending mail. [System.Net.Mail.SmtpException]
-- Unable to read data from the transport connection: net_io_connectionclosed. [System.IO.IOException].

A Powershell test comes back with a similar result:

Wireshark shows success on Win10 and Server 2016 including this Track-It server:

The server is fully patched.

BMC and Microsoft seem stumped.

Since this was working fine and stopped one day without explanation, I assume Microsoft changed something on the smtp.office365.com servers.

I manage a small O365 tenant. They want to always have the correct contact info for all employees.

They have set up their o365 accounts on their phones and the local outlook contacts are syncing.

But how do I get all employees contacts into everyones outlook contacts. I know this is easily done manually adding the contacts in Outlook - but I would very much like a solution that just pushes the contacts from the GAL to every user. Is this possible?

This works great but every colleague is able to reshare the OneNote.

The possibility of resharing is not the desired behavior of our customer.

Re-Enable O365 Mailbox for a returning user

Hi Here is my situation please help

1. User left the company 9 months ago..... we removed O365 license and moved AD account to a NON-SYNCING OU (keep for 1 year)

2. User recently got rehired - we move the AD account back to SYNCING OU

3. User account Sync'd to O365

4. We applied license

Its been a few days and no mailbox is showing in O365!

We go to on-prem Exchange... we see the user in EAC as an O365 mailbox! How do we get this mailbox to show up in O365??? What are we missing from the re-enabling of this user?

Inactive Mailboxes on non-org wide retention policies

I am trying to understand how having multiple retention policies for Exchange Online mailboxes effects inactive mailboxes.

I need to create three separate mailbox retention policies ranging from 3, 5, 10 years. By default, everyone is added to the three year policy but some users may need additional retention and thus added to the other policies. Membership for the 5 and 10 year policies is done manually as dynamic group membership is sadly not supported.

According to this document link, retention policies configured for specific inclusions or exclusions don't support inactive mailboxes. So, my 5 and 10 year policy are considered specific since they only apply to those members added.

Question: If a user is added to the 5 or 10 year policy, and then we delete the user object, does the mailbox become an inactive mailbox subject to the 5 or 10 year policy? Or is just limited to the three year policy?

Outlook client connectivity is impacted due to internet icon in computer shows globe

In few of the user machines the internet icon turns globe intermittently. During this time outlook client does not connect and shows "Need password" but internet works fine through browser and outlook for web works as well. The globe symbol will automatically disappear in few minutes and outlook will start working.

Not much information from netsh trace capture.

Any suggestions/fix.

I have a client that is a startup, they do not currently have corporate email.

I am trying to login to admin.microsoft.com so I can setup the domain and Office 365, but it will not take their AOL email address.

Can anyone give me some guidance on how this all works? Can I use an email address from my business then change it later on for them?

I have done this in the past but only with clients that already have corporate email.

Outlook - Can I create company "My Templates" meeting templates?

When you are creating a meeting there is an option to the right. "My templates"

I have created a meeting template and stored it in c:\users\username\appdata\roaming\microsoft\templates. This template does not show in "My templates, but can only be used if I select the template from New Items > More Items > Choose Form and then select 'User Templates' in Files System

Is there a way to make the templates appear for easy access in the "My templates" view or is this only intended for short text messages?

If not possible is the best way then to add the Choose form to Quick Access bar and have the user select it this way?

Depuis hier, il m'est impossible d'utiliser l'option d'impresssion personnalisée d'un document word (Microsoft 365) composé de 2 sections. L'écriture "p27s2-p35s2" reste sans effet. Son équivalence sans tenir compte des sections "33-41" reste également sans effet. Les jours précédents (même la veille) je ne rencontrais aucun problème avec une telle option d'impression. Il m'est cependant possible d'imprimer la page active. Il m'est également possible d'imprimer toutes le pages d'un document Word. Il convient de noter qu'avec une autre application (non Microsoft) l'impression personnalisée fonctionne (Power PDF).

Received a FOIL request for emails sent by one of our users between certain dates to any of a list of 103 email addresses that are outside our tenant. I cannot get the TO and RECIPIENT conditions in Content Search to accept non-tenant email addresses.

Request: Option to change the default sender of shared mailbox for new messages and reply/forward

Hello

I know, others had raised the question/request before. But because until today I haven't found a suitable solution, it is still in issue for me. We use a shared mailbox added as an additional mailbox in the outlook client (in advanced account settings).

Once a month we send E-mails to customers from that mailbox concerning Windows Updates. The default for new messages however is the personal E-mail/mailbox. In most cases, the shared is used for answering incoming qustions for which we use the personal E-mail. Also for that wie have to manually switch the sender - replies are sent by default from the shared mailbox.

I also know that the administrator (Microsoft 365) can remove the Send As persmission, so that all E-mails would be sent from the personal mailbox (mentioned in this post). However, that would completely remove the switch option to select the shared mailbox. Therefore, it's not really a solution.

Of course, it's not a big thing to manually change the sender E-mail, but it's really annoying that the default can't be changed. The user should have the option to individually select what is more often used.

Currently using Office 365 through work but will need to get my own licence. Was looking at Office 2019 and wondering what is the best / recommended way of swapping around Outlook pst and ost files seamlessly. Do I uninstall Office 365 and then install Office 2019 or is that not necessary.

Word and Excel should not be a problem as I understand the Docx and Xlx are compatible between the two.

On premises synced DL's not showing up in new Address list

We have some Distribution lists syncing from on premises however when we ran command below to create a new address list :

But in this new address list we are not able to see distribution lists in OWA. it shows as blank

I checked and the distribution list is also not hidden from GAL as hiddenfromaddresslist is set to False

Outlook layout change

Hello,

from one moment to another part of my outlook design changed from picture A to picture B - and I really don't like it. On another laptop with my account, the design is still the variant A. Even part of my the first laptop, like the sent items, are still V A. So I don't think it's an update, it seems more like a setting, but it just can't find it. If I click on "view --> change view --> single" nothing changes (I hope the names of the buttons are correct, my outlook is on German.

Any help?
