  • To wrap up, we'll post a few questions that have come up in the past, and their answers as they stand today. Thanks for joining us and we look forward to your continued questions and feedback on Adoption Score and Experience insights.

    Adoption Score

Q: How do I get adoption score?

A: Adoption Score is available to organizations that have a subscription to Microsoft 365 commercial plans or Office 365 commercial plans who are in the multi-tenant cloud.

For Endpoint Analytics insights you must have:

    • Microsoft Endpoint Manager enrolled devices running Windows 10 version 1903 or later of Windows 10 Enterprise

    • Devices must be Azure AD joined or Hybrid Azure AD joined

    • An Intune Service Administrator is required to start the gathering data and agree to terms and limitations

    • To leverage proactive remediation scripting, devices need to be co-managed with Configuration Manager.

Q: How much does Adoption Score cost?

A: Adoption Score is available to customers as part of their existing commercial Microsoft 365 subscriptions that have access to the Microsoft 365 admin center.

Q: What Microsoft 365 services and apps are supported in Adoption Score?

A: Supported workloads include Microsoft 365 Apps (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Teams), OneDrive for Business, SharePoint, Exchange, and Microsoft Endpoint Manager.

Q: What permissions do I need to access Adoption Score?

A: Role Based Access Control (RBAC) in the Microsoft 365 admin center is used to manage access to Adoption Score: More information can be found here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/admin/adoption/privacy?view=o365-worldwide

Q: Can I export the data out of the service?

A: There is not currently a way to export data from people experiences categories. We are looking to provide an API at a later date, which will be announced via the Microsoft 365 Public Roadmap

Q: How long is my historical score/data kept?

A: We provide customers with the ability to see up to 180 days of data through the Time Trends feature.

Q: What if I’m using chat or another feature of a 3rd party product that does the same thing that you are measuring in People Experiences. Can I still get the points?

A: Not at this time but we are looking into how we might be able to accommodate 3rd party solutions.

    Adoption Score Organizational Messages

Q: How can I test the messages before sending them to users of my entire company?

A: You can send messages to specific Azure AD groups, such as your IT department. See Select the recipients for details here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/admin/adoption/organizational-messages?view=o365-worldwide#step-2-select-the-recipients

Q: Will I be able to customize the text in the messages?

A: Not currently, but we are exploring additional customization options in future releases.

    Experience insights

Q: How do I get access to Experience insights or give access?

A: The User Experience Success Manager role provides non-admins with he ability to access Experience Insights, Adoption Score and the Message Center in the Microsoft 365 admin center. Organizations that separate administrative and adoption functions can now allow adoption and change management specialists drive the organization’s digital transformation goals without visibility into administrative functions.

Q: If I don't want these users coming to the Microsoft 365 admin center, is there another way for me to share the data?

A: Yes, via the Teams app

Q: Where does help article data come from?

A: When users from your org visit support.microsoft.com or use our in-app help experiences, we are able to pull that information for you to review

Q: What time range is available?

A: We currently provide 30, 90, 180-day pivots across all the data sources

Q: Is there a way for me to slice this data by department or region?

A: We are currently investigating this

Q: What is the difference between Adoption Score and Experience insights

A: Experience insights gives the overview across data signals for you to find experience issues or success areas for you to take action on. Adoption Score dives deeper into the usage data and provides insight into how people are using the recommended best practices with M365

Q: Can I export the data

A: Yes, each data element can be exported to CSV

Q: Can I get user level information?

A: To maintain Microsoft's commitment to user-level privacy, we currently don't allow you to drill into the user level information.

Curious about the changes made to the Meetings portion of Adoption Score. These negatively impacted both individual and overall score -- and some of the scoring in place doesn't appear to be accurate - or perhaps is not clear how it is calculated (ex - recording meetings or post-meeting communication). What the actions are to increase adoption needs to be clearer (what actions users need to do to improve).

Hi Beth - Thanks for your question. As we continue investing in Adoption Score, we will be adding new usage signals to inform you on how to drive adoption and usage best practices. On occasion, some of these usage signals may be removed and will have some impact on the respective score category, and the overall Adoption Score. In these cases, we make it a point to inform you of these changes via the Microsoft 365 admin center Message Center.

In the documentation, you will find information about how the Meetings score is calculated, as follows:

      • Created recording: This represents the score for Microsoft Teams meetings that had the meeting recorded

      • Sent out post-meeting communication: This represents the score for Microsoft Teams meetings that had attendee(s) share any chat messages on the meeting chat thread after the conclusion of that meeting

For your reference, here is the documentation link: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/admin/adoption/meetings-new?view=o365-worldwide#follow-up

As for actions to increase adoption, Organizational Messages, now in Preview, enables you send messages out to users in their flow of work. These are available both within the detail view of Adoption Score categories, and within the Actions tab on the main Adoption Score page. You will also see a button for 'View communication resources' which will open a side pane displaying relevant content and recommended actions to help inform users of tips and best practices.

Later this year, we plan to add a recommended action to address these specific best practices i.e. send meeting notes or follow-ups in Teams meeting group chat after meetings are concluded.

See more on Organizational Messages here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/admin/adoption/organizational-messages?view=o365-worldwide

Thank you for response. The calculations are where I'm at a loss. Created recording: This represents the score for Microsoft Teams meetings that had the meeting recorded - out of 100 it shows only 1 had created recording (this seems way off - so curious how this is calculated). • Sent out post-meeting communication: This represents the score for Microsoft Teams meetings that had attendee(s) share any chat messages on the meeting chat thread after the conclusion of that meeting - again it shows 3/100 which again seems to be incorrect. Plus our overall Meeting score dropped because 3 usages were removed -- but the score should, in my opinion, be adjusted to reflect this change rather than penalizing it (which is what appears to have occurred).
