Word's TTS voices have changed on their own.
I am dyslexic and use the “Read aloud” function in Word to find errors in texts.
For no apparent reason, the TTS voice has changed to the basic Windows voice.
Now it is very difficult for me to find the errors because the voices are very simple and basic.
I have tried to change them in a thousand ways, but to no avail.
- I have restored the system,
- uninstalled and reinstalled Word.
- formatted the PC.
In short, the TTS voices I bought Word for are gone.
I use Windows 11 and Office Professional Plus 2021 (purchased on April 8, 2023 in the Fnac Store)
This has happened to me on all my PCs.
I feel robbed.

Soy Disléxico, y utilizo la función Leer en voz alta de Word para encontrar errores en los textos.
Sin ningún motivo, la voz TTS ha cambiado a las de base de Windows.
Ahora me cuesta muchísimo encontrar los errores porque las voces son muy simples y básicas.
He intentado cambiarla de mil formas, pero no lo he conseguido.
- He Restaurado el sistema,
- Desinstalado y vuelto a instalar el Word.
- Formateado el PC.
Simplemente, ya no están las voces TTS por las que compré el Word.

Me ha pasado en todos mis PCs.
Me siento robado.

Manually switch back to the original voice
1. Open the document in Word, tap Review → Read Aloud.2. In the Read Aloud control bar, tap Settings.
3. In the Voice Selection drop-down menu, reselect your favorite voice.
Checking Windows Voice Settings
1. Press Win + I to open Windows Settings → Time and Language → Voice.2. Under Voice Languages, make sure your preferred language is installed.
3. In the Text-to-Speech section, select the default voice you want.
To reinstall a voice pack
1. Open Windows Settings → Applications → Optional Features.2. Tap Add Features, search for Voice, and reinstall the voice package you need.
3. Restart Word and test the read aloud feature.
