context menu in Word 2016
see my question from October 3, 2024
I still can't solve the problem. Can someone help me?
I have a problem with the context menu in word 2016. When I select the text and click the right mouse button, the context menu opens, while the first, separate item "search in the menus" (picture 1.) appears to me, while behind it is a large space. If I want to find other items in the popup window, I have to start scrolling in it (Figure 2.). Only after the window is fully rolled do I see other items of the pop-up window (Figure 3.). It's interesting that this doesn't happen when you click on the image, it only shows up incorrectly when you click on the highlighted text. It's quite frustrating and it's weighing on me. It was working fine until recently and just recently it changed arbitrarily. I am asking for advice on how to correct this deficiency. Thank you.
I take it you are referring to the question context menu in Word 2016 | Microsoft Community Hub ?
It's been a while since I last used that version, but I would try an Office repair first.
Also see if starting Word in application Safe mode makes a difference.

Hello, thank you for your willingness to help me. To understand the problem:
If in word (office 2016), when I right-click, a pop-up window opens. The items that I want to see such as: - cut, - copy, - paste options, etc... are shown to me only when I scroll down the window. There is a large space from the beginning to the location of the listed items, so I have to scroll down to it.
I did not understand your answer: Also see if starting Word in application Safe mode makes a difference.I am attaching a screen for completeness. The first column is the state when I right click. Column no. 2 shows when I scroll in that window and the third column is the state when I scroll to it completely.
Application Safe mode is discussed in the article https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/open-office-apps-in-safe-mode-on-a-windows-pc-dedf944a-5f4b-4afb-a453-528af4f7ac72.
Starting in that mode prevents any add-ins from running and it also makes use of factory default settings, which would help decide the source of this issue.
Try Reset Word Settings:
Close Word, then go to `C:\Users
\[Your Username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Wordand rename theWordfolder toWord.old`. Restart Word, and it will create a new settings folder.

Thanks for the advice, I followed the instructions, but it didn't help. Unfortunately, the problem still persists.

I found an interesting thing. If I right-click on a hyperlink in the text of Word, the popup window opens normally. However, if I click on anything else, the popup window error persists. Could this be a clue to identifying the error?
