Last year in April or May I encountered Windows Update problem and noted that there were some components missing or corrupted through DSIM and SFC SCAN. Microsoft team conducted repair works but not ...

Reza_Ameri My PC can't use Windows Search and hence I failed to run it as administrator. I previously learned to use the command: sfc /scannow, but haven't used it again after either Windows Search malfunctioning or disabled?
In order to make a trial, I shall be grateful if you can tell me how to fix up Windows Search. I had tried "Troubleshoot" but in vain.

In this case open start and from the list of applications look for Windows System folder and open it and find the Command Prompt and right click on it and run it as administrator.
Then run the command, it might resolve the issue with the search too.
- Reza_AmeriJun 07, 2021Silver ContributorIt seems like it is okay and your Windows is corrupted and you have to reinstall it.

Reza_Ameri I open Windows PowerShell (Admin) and type chkdsk /f. Restart my PC and note a message that scanning and repairing 100% complete, but I don't see any report or where I can find it out. I repeat chkdsk without /f, and attach the report as shown on the photo and note a message "Windows has scanned the file system and found no problems. No further action is required.
CHKDSK Read-only Mode
- Reza_AmeriJun 06, 2021Silver ContributorThank you for sharing, try run the following command:
chkdsk /f
From what you shared, I believe your system is damaged and you have to reinstall it. - PS7010Jun 06, 2021Brass Contributor
Reza_Ameri I found some information from CSB.log and see whether it is useful or not:

Reza_Ameri I open Windows PowerShell and type DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth, the message is "The component store is repairable. The operation completed successfully. Type DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth, the operation halted at 4.9%, Error:3017, the message is "The requested operation failed. A system reboot is required to roll back changes made." Then, type DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth, halted at 23.4%, Error 2, with the message "The system cannot find the file specified.

- Reza_AmeriJun 05, 2021Silver ContributorTry the following commands:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth - PS7010Jun 03, 2021Brass Contributor
Reza_Ameri I insert the Windows Installer and then select Start > Settings > Update & security > Recovery > under Advanced Startup, click Restart now. In the Advanced Option, I select Command Prompt and type SFC /Scannow. The message is that Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.
Do I miss any step?
Command Prompt: SFC Scan
- Reza_AmeriJun 03, 2021Silver ContributorThis is the Recovery Environment and you have to click on the Command Prompt and then type the command I mentioned earlier.
- PS7010Jun 03, 2021Brass Contributor
Reza_Ameri I boot with the Windows 10 installer, English version and open the Advanced Option as follows: Which one is recovery environment for loading?
Bearing in mind that my PC Windows 10 is Enterprise Edition and the Windows 10 Installer Professional Edition. Kindly advise me further.
Advanced Options
- PS7010Jun 03, 2021Brass Contributor
Reza_Ameri Yesterday, I tried the present Chinese Version, but failed. I shall go for the English Version later and then advise you of the outcome.
- Reza_AmeriJun 02, 2021Silver ContributorEarlier, I shared a screenshot about running the repair and you shared it is showing a error.
In the menu you may select the Advance option.
First , try the version you already have and if it failed , then go for the English version. - PS7010Jun 02, 2021Brass Contributor
Reza_Ameri Presently, I have the Windows Installer, Chinese Version in my USB. Do I need to reload the Windows Installer in English Version?
Secondly, how can I load into the recovery environment? Any specific menu item I can select? Let me make sure the above before Act.
Thank you in advance.
- Reza_AmeriJun 01, 2021Silver ContributorTry boot with the Windows 10 installer and load into the recovery environment and then open the Command prompt and type the following command:
sfc /scannow
Press enter and let it runs. - PS7010Jun 01, 2021Brass Contributor
Reza_Ameri My home PC, Professional Edition resumed normal without reinstallation.
Moreover, my office PC, Enterprise Edition could not be reinstalled by myself as explained earlier. Hopefully, Windows Insider Build is able to find a viable solution. If worse come to worst, I can accept Windows Re-installation by Microsoft technical team with prior notice for back-up files.
- Reza_AmeriMay 31, 2021Silver ContributorFrom what you explained, I believe you will need to boot from the USB and install the Windows.
- PS7010May 31, 2021Brass Contributor
Reza_Ameri I went back office and restart my PC. Start >Right click, select Windows PowerShell (Admin), run DISM ScanHealth command, halted at 36.9%, Error: 2 with a message "The system cannot find the file specified." CSB.log, Checking System Update Readiness: Operation result: 0x80070002, Total Detected Corruption: 8, where CBS Manifest Corruption: 3 and CBS Metadata Corruption: 5. Do I need to boot from the USB and to retry Startup Repair?
- PS7010May 31, 2021Brass Contributor
Reza_Ameri No, I haven't seen any error during the Windows Installer installation. During USB boot, no error message was displayed, then I selected Startup Repair. In the course of Startup Repair, no error message was displayed, but at the end the result "Startup Repair couldn't repair your PC." looks like the attached photo.
- Reza_AmeriMay 30, 2021Silver ContributorHave you seen this error during the installation and when you boot from the USB?
- PS7010May 30, 2021Brass Contributor
Reza_Ameri No error message was found from Windows Installer USB to run Startup Repair. Error message was found in SrtTrail.txt from PC Startup Repair in Safe Mode, Error code: 0x0.

Reza_Ameri I believe you're right as I made an unsuccessful trial in my home PC this morning. I downloaded the Windows Installer, Chinese Version matching with my PC language and ran Startup Repair again in Safe Mode. The result was "failed" too, but yielded a great problem to my home PC, such as no wireless internet connection. The situation was really more worse that I could not activate my Windows even inputting the Product Key and no Windows Update service could be seen at that time. After several attempts in running Troubleshoot, I noted that Windows Update service re-appeared. Then, I attempted Safe Mode and select Startup Repair from my PC again. Luckily, Windows activation was restored and I could connect via feedback for help through my Microsoft account. Eventually, the problems for Wireless Internet and Windows Search being solved.
I opened the Command Prompt as Administrator, executed DISM ScanHealth command and SFC Scan command, no error has been identified.
- Reza_AmeriMay 29, 2021Silver ContributorIt is not related to the version of the Microsoft Office.
Does it display any error message?
I believe in this case you have to reinstall Windows. - PS7010May 29, 2021Brass Contributor
Reza_Ameri I have done a similar trial on my home PC and the result of Startup Repair is negative too, i.e., Startup Repair couldn't repair my PC.
My home PC is Professional Edition Chinese Version, but the Windows Installer is Professional Edition English Version. Perhaps, the different version causes the repair action failed.
If it is the case, my office PC is Enterprise Edition, but the Windows Installer is Professional Edition, the different edition yields the same result "failed".
Please advise whether my guess is correct or not.

Reza_Ameri Thank you for your close guidance.
I got Windows Installer USB and then carried out the USB boot. I saw the menu as shown and selected Repair your computer. However, Startup Repair couldn't repair my PC.
- Reza_AmeriMay 28, 2021Silver Contributor
You have to download it using the tools and you may use any PC to do it as long as you are able to run the installer file.
When you run it you shall see a menu like the following:
And you have to select Repair your computer

Reza_Ameri I just open the link and see "Windows 10 May 2021 Update" and "Create Windows 10 installation media". My PC is 64-bits Windows. Download the update or the media onto a blank USB. Can I download the installer from the present PC?
As to "Repair", is it referred to "Startup Repair"?
I would like to make sure every step before doing.
