Severe Open-Shell Problem on Win11 24H2 When System Resumes from Sleep. Any fix?

Hopefully my attached screenshot illustrates the issue well. Doesn't happen every time on resume from sleep but does happen more often than not. Have tested this with Open-Shell 4.4.191 and Open-Shell 4.4.194. Get the same results with each.

Anyone else experiencing this? Anyone know of any fixes for this?

  • The issue with Open-Shell on Windows 11 24H2 after resuming from sleep could be due to compatibility problems with the newer Windows build. Here’s how you might address it:

    1. Update Open-Shell:
      • Ensure you are using the latest version of Open-Shell or any beta versions compatible with Windows 11 24H2. Sometimes newer builds address these bugs.
    2. Adjust Sleep Settings:
      • Go to Settings > System > Power & Sleep, and try disabling Fast Startup under Additional power settings > Choose what the power buttons do. This might reduce glitches after sleep.
    3. Reinstall Open-Shell:
      • Uninstall Open-Shell completely, restart your system, and reinstall it. This can clear potential misconfigurations.
    4. Check for GPU Driver Updates:
      • Outdated GPU drivers can cause rendering issues with third-party shells. Update your GPU drivers from the manufacturer’s website.
    5. Consider Alternatives:
      • If the problem persists, try alternatives like Classic Start Menu or explore native Windows 11 customization for a stable experience.

If none of these steps help, you might need to wait for an update from the Open-Shell developers for full compatibility with Windows 11 24H2. Meanwhile, report the issue to the Open-Shell GitHub for further insights.
