Fx-audio Dac-X6 drivers fail after 14/01/2024 update

Hello

I have an issue that my DAC is not recognized by windows after latest update. There is code 10 in drivers (It is polish language):

Nie można uruchomić tego urządzenia. (Kod 10)

Zasoby systemu są niewystarczające do ukończenia operacji API.

When i was backing windows up it went even further. Repair tool reinstalled some system files on E. partition xD. So software just crashed and i had to reinstall windows.

On the very first launch everything was fine. DAC installed their drivers automatically. It was recognized by soft, and played the sound.

When I updated and restarted pc the problem was back, though. Again code 10. "System resources  does not perform requirements to finish the API operation".

Is there any possibility for install selective updates?

Please, help!

Excause my english, I try my best.

  • I had exact same issue with exact same DAC, I logged in to save you time and headaches. 1 of the below fixed the issue for me, I am not sure which as I did both at the same time,

    1. Windows Update > Update History> > Uninstall updates. I uninstalled all 3 available to me, it might be different for you but mine are seen in the screenshot below. I also PAUSED UPDATES FOR 5 WEEKS

    2. I downloaded and ran the SFX DAC-X6 audio driver installer from their website found here

Once you do both the above, reboot and let me know how it goes. You may need to uninstall the device from device manager, then scan for hardware changes. In windows search Device Manager, expand sound, Right click DAC-X6, uninstall, Right-click, scan for hardware changes.

I typed out a reply but it was removed for some reason, I am re-posting without links so hopefully it stays.

1 of the 2 resolutions below worked for me, I did both at the same time so I'm not 100% sure, try both and let me know!.

    1. Windows Updates> Update History> Uninstall Updates. I removed all 3 available to me, I would uninstall whatever is available to you that was installed in the last week. I also paused updates for 5 weeks.
    2. Download the DAC driver directly from the the SZFX.com support page. I will past it in a reply to this comment in case that was the reason my comment was removed. Unzip the file, run the setup.

Once done with both, reboot and if the issue continues, try searching DEVICE MANAGER on windows, Expand the SOUND drop down, Right click DAC-X6> Uninstall, Right-click>Scan for hardware changes. Reboot again and good luck!

Actually, uninstalling the update alone works. That's hardly a solution though, either MS or FX-Audio will have to adress this at some point.

I think you mean the 14/01/2025 update, not the 2024 update lol.

I'm having the exact same issue. Dac-X6 was working fine, I restarted PC for windows update and then it stopped. Having the same issue checking on my Device Manager -

"This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Insufficient system resources exist to complete the API."

Nothing was changed about my PC setup besides the Windows update.

I have the same DAC and now mine is doing the same thing as yours. Might have to wait to look into it tomorrow, though. I hope we find an answer

I had to remove KB5050021 for my DAC to work

Windows Update > Update History > Uninstall updates > KB5050021 Uninstall

is uninstalling these updates generally safe? I have an fx-audio dac-x6, do this think there will be a fix for this soon?

I would probably wait now with installing the KB5050009 update, my DAC stopped working after installing that. After I uninstalled the update it works again so I put a pause now on windows update for the time being.
