After hearing the USB access sound, the Windows 11 system appears to freeze.
While the computer was operating normally, it suddenly emitted a sound similar to a USB device connection alert, followed by a system freeze: windows could be switched, but all clicks within any open page were unresponsive. After a brief freeze, the computer automatically shut down and restarted. This issue can now be consistently reproduced. Seeking the root cause and a solution.

The symptoms you’re describing — a sudden USB connection alert sound, system freeze with unresponsive clicks, followed by automatic shutdown and restart — point to a potential hardware or driver issue, or possibly a problematic peripheral device. Since this behavior is now reproducible, it’s important to systematically diagnose the root cause.

The USB connect sound followed by a freeze usually means a USB device or USB driver is failing.
What to do:
- Unplug all USB devices except keyboard and mouse. If the issue stops, plug them back in one by one to find the bad device.
- Disable USB power saving
- Device Manager → USB Root Hub → Power Management → uncheck Allow the computer to turn off…
- Update chipset/USB drivers from the PC or motherboard manufacturer.
- Check Event Viewer → System for USB or Kernel-PnP errors.
In most cases this is caused by a faulty USB device, hub, or driver—not Windows itself.

If you have System Restore points available, try restoring your system to a previous point when the issue wasn't present.
