Windows 10 is hopeless on my laptop
My laptop crashed recently and there was no way back. I bought a secondhand laptop with more RAM and I had Windows 10 installed by a professional. I cannot get Windows 10 to run properly. If I try to search Google it does nothing unless I keep emptying the cache all the time. If I play a Microsoft game like Solitaire it keeps freezing when I try to access the game. It's really annoying. The laptop with less RAM had no problems. Is there anything I can do?
- Did you make a clean install or direct update? Make sure the ISO is downloaded from Microsoft not some random website.
- It was installed on a formatted disk by my local computer man. There was nothing else on the disk so it was a clean install. I seem to have done something that's made it run more smoothly. I changed a setting in the updates and it has improved. It's no longer freezing. I can't remember which setting it was now.
Try this two methods:
Check for Updates: Ensure that Windows 10 is fully updated. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for any pending updates. Installing the latest updates can resolve many bugs and compatibility issues.
Clear Cache and Temporary Files: Since you mentioned issues with having to constantly clear your cache, it might be beneficial to use the built-in Disk Cleanup tool to remove temporary files and system cache. Search for "Disk Cleanup" in the Start menu, select the drive you want to clean (usually C:), and choose the types of files you want to delete.
Holawaythank you for the advice. On my old laptop I only had to clear the cache once in a while. On this one it's almost every day. Windows is constantly updating. I think it's more a problem with the internet connection temporarily dropping out. This never happened on the old laptop but it seems to happen a lot more on this one.
