How to add Filter by Document Type Feature

We are using the modern Sharepoint and we would like a "Reference Library" page where the user can select the type of document (and I would like to be able to create the "types" the user can select). 

For example, a "Category" and "Document Type" section where the user can select the  box and it'll show populated options. How can i do this in modern Sharepoint? Is it possible at all? Is there a way to do Javascript or something to add it?
