Filter list web part by category or keyword

Is there a way to filter a list web part without adding another list for dynamic filtering?  I created a contact list for 'general' contact information that are not in our AD (i.e. primary contact info for certain team that does not have a group/shared email).  I would like to display this contact in a gallery view on some pages but to do so you have to add another list 

I just want to filter the list using simple keywords like (title = abc).
