Column Type incorrect when creating new List. Cannot change it

I'm having an issue when creating a new List from excel. My first column called Carrier Name only has two column type options: Multiple lines of text or Do not Import. I need this to be the Title or Single line of text so that I can filter on it later. Why don't I have those options? 

My data in that column is all less than 100 characters. When I uploaded a test list earlier it allowed me to choose Single Line of Text. I don't understand why it isn't accepting that now.
