Bulk Edit Not Working
I would like to bulk edit tasks, specifically the Task Calendar. I highlight multiple rows (2 or more), select Information -> Advanced -> Calendar and then pick a calendar, but no changes are ma...

I have the same version of Microsoft Project that others are using. I just did an extensive test on the features in the Multiple Task Information dialog, and can confirm that NOTHING is working in this dialog. I tried changing the Duration for a block of tasks. No go. I tried changing the constraint type to As Soon as Possible to a block of tasks, each of which has a SNET constraint applied, and no go again. It is obvious that Microsoft has introduced a bug into Microsoft Project, and this bug NEEDS TO BE FIXED. I will report this bug to my contacts within Microsoft to see if they can get the fix moving. Thanks so much to all for reporting this.

My "edit directly in cell" box is already checked. I did unclick/click it to see if it made a difference, but the end result is the same.
My version is 2308 (Build 16731.20234 CTR).
A screen shot is attached. It doesn't matter if I try to edit Task Name, Calendar, Duration, etc. No change is made after clicking "OK".

Kdekruif,
I wanted to see if bulk editing worked in previous version of Project and I found out it does. I created a simple test plan in Project 2010 and then attempted a bulk edit via Multiple Task Information. All tasks were updated as expected.
Since I don't use the bulk edit method you use, (I instead use the one I described), I can't verify if it worked in an earlier version of Project 2019 but it is possible that a recent update "krumped" the process and nobody, except yourself, noticed. I would not classify it as a bug but you might submit feedback through the feedback tab on Project, "I don't like something".

rbuzeta I have trained literally thousands of people on this feature over the years. What Microsoft are saying is complete BS. This worked before. Since the update in October it stopped working and needs to be fixed. I have worked with MS Project for over 30 years. Don't take this BS from MS support - they simply don't know what they are taking about. If its possible to revert to an earlier vession (pre-October) then do so. Then it should work fine.
- John-projectNov 21, 2023Silver Contributorrbuzeta,
I guess the "new information" is the Microsoft support staff finally admitting it is really a bug 🙂
John - rbuzetaNov 21, 2023Copper ContributorAccording to new information received from Microsoft support staff, it is estimated that the solution to this BUG could be deployed on December 12, 2023
- John-projectNov 10, 2023Silver ContributorSandra_Kienitz,
Understood. A fix has not yet been released. I suggest you use the workaround I cited in my response on Sept 25 until the fix is released.
John - Sandra_KienitzNov 10, 2023Copper ContributorI have the same issue. Nothing works when trying to update several tasks at the same time.
- rbuzetaNov 07, 2023Copper ContributorHi John-project
It's a BUG, for me there is no doubt about that. Apparently the support people who wrote in response to my report don't seem to know what they're talking about, I agree with that too. It has not been my intention to contradict, in any way, the expressions that say that it is a bug, since it is obvious that it is. I only thought it was important that the community know that, more than a month after this bug was detected, a solution has not yet been deployed and, on the other hand, there is a person who signs as Microsoft Support who affirms that this is not a bug (sadly). However, despite the written communications to my email, I appreciate your clarifications, I prefer to think that this forum has better information than the Support people, I choose to believe that the people at Microsoft are already working on it and I will wait for the deployment of the solution. Thx again. - John-projectNov 07, 2023Silver Contributorrbuzeta,
Unfortunately the people at Microsoft support you are talking do simply do not know what they are talking about. The information you are being given is WRONG. The support people are correct on one thing, "it is not possible to make bulk changes", because it IS a bug and per Dale's response, it is being worked by Project developers.
John - rbuzetaNov 06, 2023Copper ContributorOn November 6, 2023, after this community has classified it as a Bug, the response to me from Microsoft support is literally "I would like to inform you that we have checked it at our end and found that it is not possible to make bulk changes in duration of tasks in Project professional. We have also checked with our senior peers and there is no bug going on..." 🙂

I confirmed this morning with my contact in the Microsoft Project product support team that this "feature" is most definitely a BUG. Microsoft is definitely aware of the bug and is actively working on a fix. I am not aware of when the fix will be released, but it is in the works anyway. Hope this update helps. - rbuzetaNov 02, 2023Copper Contributor
Look at this image. Somebody of Microsoft Support saying that this is not a bug (LOL). I'm in a battle to prevent them from closing the case saying that this feature never existed before...
- KdekruifSep 28, 2023Copper ContributorDale,
Thank you for backing up my request to MS. I would definitely like to have this feature restored (Although it was nice to learn a new version of doing bulk edits from John.) - Sep 27, 2023All --

You're welcome and thanks for the feedback. It wouldn't be the first time an update created an unintentional glitch.
John - KdekruifSep 27, 2023Copper ContributorThank you John and Ignacio for the information and assistance.
I thought I screwed something up in my settings/program, but my version must have updated "overnight" recently and the ability to bulk edit in that fashion was lost.
I will submit feedback and see if MS will restore the functionality through the Task Information window.
