Assign Resources with Units = 50%

There is a resource created on "Resource Sheet" as detailed below:
Resource Name: Resource 1
Type: Work
Max. Units: 100%
Base Calendar: Standard

Just double click on this resource to get "Resource Information" dialog box and insert the values below on "Resource Availability" field:
Available From        Available To        Units
NA                          02/01/2025         100%
03/01/2025            06/01/2025            50%
07/01/2025                  NA                 100%

There is a task created on "Gantt Chart" without resource assigned as detailed below (this is the first task and there is no other custom settings):
Task Name: Task 1
Task Mode: Auto Scheduled
Duration: 1 day
Type: Fixed Units
Effort-Driven: Yes
Start: Fri 03/01/25
Fisnis: Fri 03/01/25

After the assignement of "Resource 1" to this same task the "Gantt Chart" display:
Task Name: Task 1
Task Mode: Auto Scheduled
Duration: 1 day
Work: 4 hrs
Type: Fixed Units
Effort-Driven: Yes
Start: Fri 03/01/25
Fisnis: Fri 03/01/25
Resource Names: Resource 1[50%]

The Project Start Date is Fri 03/01/25 (date format used is DD/MM/YYYY).

Desired Outcome: the "Task 1" with Duration: 1 day (i.e. 8 hours) should finish on "06/01/2025" due to "Resource 1" has "Resource Availability" as detailed above (Available From: 03/01/2025 Available To: 06/01/2025 Units: 50%).

If anyone knows what I might be doing wrong, I’d greatly appreciate the help.

  • Marcos,

What you are doing "wrong" is assuming that duration equates to work. It does not. When you assign the resource to the task, that resource is only available for 4 hours on 3/1/25 so that's all he/she works.

If your intent is to have the work content at 8 hours, set the Work field value before assigning the resource. Then when you assign the resource the task will be spread over 2 days (i.e. 4 hours each day based on that resource's availability) with a start on 3/1/25 and a finish on 6/1/25.

    Hope this helps.
