Update A Column In SharePoint List based on a CrossWalk in Excel

I would like to know how I can if possible update a column value in SharePoint list based on a crosswalk in excel table. 

Basically I have a Name column in SP. So when the item is created I would like the contact column value to automatically populate if the Name matches in a crosswalk in excel.
