Revert to old Planner?
As of today, the new Planner version has been rolled out for our organisation.
MS Planner is pretty much the most important tool for our project management.
With the update, we can no longer copy plans without deleting all tags.
In our organisation, the tags assign the responsible department to the respective tasks. This makes them extremely important.
"Template Plan":
Plan after we did a copy&paste:
Even the Tags have to be renamed:
Is there a way to revert to the old Planner?
Is Microsoft aware of this problem?
Kind Regards
Jonathan

I guess you all haven't noticed but it has been back for a while now.

No, I hadn't. I abandoned Planner as it became useless to me. Many thanks for posting your update. I do appreciate it.

AnavSilvermanThis is crazy... This wonderful application is now a disaster and usable. The organization is now complaining and want to move a way to Jira or other toosl.
- Where are all the "files" that we use to store all project artifacts into?
- Where is the "comments" history we used to have where adding an updated would just create a log entry.
Someone should be fired for those amazingly poor decisions.

So it looks like MS is doing a cash grab. What was once a feature in Planner to be able to manage multiple projects without having to go with a heavy handed Project Management Software, now it looks like you will have to purchase Plan 3 or 5 Manage multiple plans effortlessly with the new Portfolios feature in Microsoft Planner | Microsoft Community Hub.
Dear Microsoft: all you have to do is look through your forums and other forums like Reddit. You took a fantastic product that was helpful and screwed your customer base. You used to be able to send your Planner tasks to Outlook to show up in your calendar...amazing. You used to see all your tasks across all your "Plans" at once and filter them. And what did you do? Some poor schlep was told to make some ridiculously arbitrary changes and overnight screwed millions of people. Planner was actually moving in the direction of being an integrating program between self-task management (individual tasks), collaboration (Teams), communication (Outlook). It was edging into the actual seamless territory and then you had to go an screw it all up. It is absolutely useless now. The amount of work and effort to pour through all the various plans to and organize your day with out seeing a ridiculously overwhelming list of things to do.Just a suggestion: Instead of taking features away...how about finding out what people actually use, and enhance your product. This is why Notion, Clickup, and others like them are taking your customers away. Just wait until Notion creates a communication integration like email and chat.

I was able to Copy Plan this morning. Although the "3 dots" isn't available, I made a copy via the drop down menu off the plan name. I cannot speak to the other issues addressed by OP.

Wake up Microsoft. Be a trend setter and actually consider your user base; especially the loyal ones. We use this stuff day-in and day-out.
Stop the ridiculous "feedback" of us asking you to reinstate obvious misses in the initial rollout. Stop being like Apple and releasing obvious basic needs as "new features". This is complete madness.
This is it for me. Never again shall I be sideswiped by Microsoft's stiff hand and lack of communication with Planner. I'm done.
Much better and no childish BS alternatives:

I can't seem to Copy a plan at all, tags or no tags. The 3 dots (...) don't exist anywhere on the page, no matter what media I use.

Totally agree - either needs to revert back to the old version or update to have the board available like it was on the prior version.
Microsoft - Was there a point to this update? I am struggling to see why this was necessary.

Jonathan-H thank you for sharing your feedback. We're working on fixing the issue so that when you copy a basic plan you're able to copy the labels with it. The fix for this issue should be available in the coming days as it rolls out. Thanks for your patience.

Will you also be restoring the outlook intergration? and if not... what are the alterate options for this.

AnavSilvermanthank you for answering this post.
That are good news which I already forwarded to our PM-Team.
Where will be informed about the fix? In the Planner Blog or elsewhere?

Agreed 100% this new version is terrible. What is the point of the My day tab. It will only show tasks that are due on that day. If I have overdue tasks apparently it's ok to forget them. I have over 80 tasks assigned to me, but my day only shows on. It says I got it all done with time to spare, so I guess I can go home early.
This isn't a step backwards, this is at least 5 back.

We just got done training our entire organization to use Planner. Specifically the "Assigned to Me" functionality to allow users to see tasks from the 20-30 projects each are working on. Allowing user's to see these tasks to be sorted into due date buckets was the main driving factor behind the decision to move all projects onto sharepoint and use the task system.

Thank you for the feedback JimEngentAnd for sharing the details of what scenarios are important for your organization. We're actively working on bringing the board view functionality to My Tasks and Assigned to Me. You can keep track of updates on timing in both the Planner blog as well as the Planner roadmap. . Thank you for your patience on this.

Why was board functionality removed in the first place? Was there widespread reporting of that UI element being detrimental to operation? STOP removing/changing UI and functions just for the sake of it. Our SaaS prices keep going up, but the quality of product keeps going down.
