Moving tenant to partner account.
Hi All!
I have a challenge with my partner account vs two tenants that I operate, and I need some advice.
I log in to my Microsoft partner account with "user (at) domain-a.com"
In the partner portal, I manage my subscriptions and my benefits.
From that login, I can reach my tenant with Tenant Id: d6*-*-*-*-* by portal.azure.com
In this tenant, I have nothing more than the user I logged in with.
Then, if I log in to portal.azure.com with another (work) account, "user (at) domain-b.com", I can access all the resources I need for my business.
This tenant got Tenant Id: c5*-*-*-*-*
Here, I have VMs, storage accounts, Office 365 accounts, and more.
In this tenant, I need to consume the Azure benefits included in my Legacy Silver Subscription, which I got in my other tenant.
In Short, Can I somehow attach my "c5" tenant to my partner subscription in "user (at) domain-a.com" without having to move resources so that I can consume benefits in this tenant?
Ideally, I would just like to replace the "d6" tenant with my "c5" tenant.
Many thanks for your thoughts!
/Hakan
Please first create a Microsoft Support case requesting that the sponsorship credits be linked to an existing Azure subscription.
Because this is possible.
What you need to do beforehand:
- Create a new account in the tenant "Tenant Id: d6*-*-*-*-*", as an example "sub_az (at) domain-a.com"
- Activate Azure Sponsoring Credits Subscription with the newly created user
- Add the new user to the tenant "Tenant Id: c5*-*-*-*-*" as a guest
- Log in to the tenant "Tenant Id: c5*-*-*-*-*" with the guest user "https://portal.azure.com/c5*-*-*-*-*"
- Move the Azure Sponsoring Credits subscription from the tenant "Tenant Id: d6*-*-*-*-*" to the tenant "Tenant Id: c5*-*-*-*-*"
- Add additional contributors or owners to the Azure Sponsoring Credits Subscription from the tenant "Tenant Id: c5*-*-*-*-*".
- Open a Partner Center Support Case with the following information on your Tenant "Tenant Id: d6*-*-*-*-*"
- Problem Summary:
"Please link the Azure Sponsoring Credits Subscription with the "Sub ID ##########" to the Azure Subscription "ID ##########""

Dear Microsoft Partner Support Team,
Between late 2024 and early 2025, I founded a company and registered it as a Microsoft Partner, associating my personal Microsoft certifications with it. However, during the process of purchasing the Partner Success Core benefits package, I encountered issues that required removing the company’s domain from its original tenant and associating it with a new one.
As a result of this domain migration, the system counted this as a partner change, deducting one of my available partner association changes. Subsequently, in mid-February, I began working with another Microsoft partner company and was required to link my certifications to them as part of my employment.
I will soon be leaving that company and would like to re-associate my certifications with my original company. However, I am concerned that if I proceed, the system will consider it my final change, when in fact, one of those changes was necessitated by the tenant migration related to my company’s domain.
For this reason, I kindly request that the counter for partner association changes be adjusted to account for this exceptional situation, enabling me to return my certifications to my company.
Thank you very much in advance for your understanding and support. I remain attentive to any clarification or additional information you may require.
Best regards,

This is not the appropriate forum for this, I would log a support ticket and try that route. Sorry! Didn't want to leave you hanging out there. 😀
Hello JillArmourMicrosoft Thanks for your message. I've already created the ticket but I was cheking in the forum because It's a personal account and currently the Microsoft support team that assist in certifications (MCP) request to create a case here in this forum to assist me in this non-company request.
- MartijnBreetIron ContributorHi Hakan,
If i understand correctly you have Tenant A where you manage MPN membership (Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program) and where you have received certain benefits, including Azure credits.
You also have Tenant B where you would like to apply the Azure credits from your benefits.
I'm afraid that's not possible. As stated on https://learn.microsoft.com/en-US/partner-center/mpn-benefits-azure-cloud#redeem-your-azure-credits "you must assign these credits to an individual user in your organization" = in Azure AD tenant A.
It wouldn't fix the need to move stuff anyway as noted on same page:
The Azure credits provisioned along with any new Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program (MAICPP) purchase like – Microsoft Action Pack Subscription (MAPS), Legacy Silver/Gold etc., can only be used on a new Azure subscription. These credits cannot be used on an existing Azure subscription. After redeeming any new Azure sponsorship, you must move all your resources under this new subscription to be able to make use of these sponsorship credits.
Good luck,

Hi MartijnBreet and thanks for the clarification.
Does this mean that I must migrate all resources in "Tenant B," including Office 365 users and mailboxes, to "Tenant A," where I have my Legacy Silver subscription, and then close down "Tenant B"?
