New Desktop Outlook

I just recently started using the new Outlook desktop version.  New mail notifications are no longer showing in the corner of my screen. I have turned off focus, I doubled checked new mail notification is turned on, but I still do not receive notification. I do not want sound notification due to small office setting.  The new settings are completely different and I have tried everything to get the mail icon to show up. Any help would be appreciated.
