I saw this Microsoft article. Has anyone encounter this before? Is the only option WAIT FOR MICROSOFT?

While the issue is under investigation, you can use this as a workaround:
Add a shared mailbox as an additional account in Outlook Desktop - Outlook | Microsoft Learn

The workaround is not applicable for manual-mapped shared mailbox. . How long do we have to wait for a fixed solution?

I understand your concern.
I recommend you to give feedback directly to Microsoft.
You can do that by clicking on Help > Feedback in your Outlook.
You can also post your issue in Microsoft Feedback Portal:
Outlook · Community (microsoft.com)
