Microsoft teams administrator after Skype migration

Hello everyone.

We have a small company and we are currently using personal Microsoft accounts. In the past we used Skype as our internal communication platform, and once the migration to Teams was required we made the switch before the Skype closing date.

Everything went smoothly and without issues, however, we have noticed some things are disabled (such as scheduled messages) and from what we heard, we need the Microsoft Teams admin to take a look at it in order to enable these features.

If we all had personal accounts and we were not part of an organization at the moment of the migration, who is the Teams administrator? Is this a feature only for paid Microsoft Teams? We are a little confused on this and any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Hello Matt, thank for clearing this out 😀 so in order to have an organization, you need a Microsoft 365 Business account in any of its tiers? Is it possible to have both free and paid users under the same organization for easier management and billing? Not all of our employees need Microsoft paid services, but some do.

  • If you're all using personal Microsoft accounts and not part of a Microsoft 365 organization, then there's no Teams admin, because admin features only come with a paid Microsoft 365 business subscription. That’s why some features like scheduled messages are missing. To access those, you’d need to move to a paid plan.

Thank you for clearing this out Matt 😀so in order to have an organizational account you need Microsoft 365 Business in any of its tiers, is that correct? Sorry, we are not very familiar with Microsoft pricing and ecosystem. Is there a way to mix free users with licensed users? Not all of our employees need Microsoft 365 paid plans, but some of them would do and we were wondering whether it is possible to have everyone (both free and paid) under the same umbrella for easier setup and billing.
