How do I check the real-time progress when I download a file in Teams?
Hey guys!
I really wanna find a way to see the progress or final result when I download a file in Teams...
Oops...It's so terrible for me when I download a video or large documents cause of I dunno what happened and result after clicked the download button. I only check the local file size to estimate whether complete or not, everything will be bad when the network is unstable.
Do you have identical experience for me? If you have a proper way to handle it, many thanks for ur comments and response.

I am looking for this download button and directed here.. 2 years ago and yet they still didnt add "Downloads" button.
i just click somewhere and the progress bar gone without a way to show it again. even Ctrl+J shortcut didn't work 🙄

Feature now exists kind of:
Top right corner the 3 dots -> downloads.
If that doesnt come up as expected, try downloading another file and the download windows should pop back up where you can track or cancel the other running downloads
- NicPoz88Copper ContributorIncredible but true...they are still missing this one to date (July-2023). Hope this will be sorted soon. Clearly needed.

Rylan_Wei I know it's a real hassle, you can always open in SharePoint and download it from there where you can check the progress as well.
- Eduardo_RojasCopper ContributorYes my experience is identical.
The Teams app needs a download manager urgently. - AnqB0VVRJMzsO6zVIron Contributorcurrently, my workaround is download from web Teams, if it's a giant file
I think this inconvenient thing will live for a while, never heard MS is going to make this better, just told me "this is by design"- Rylan_WeiCopper Contributor
Yup, thanks for supply a new way to fix it using web Teams. I barely access the web Teams literally :). As Ifandbut's comment, it's really a general feature of office application, our team members all thought that's a elementary and basic feature, even if display real-time indicator also is okay, dunno MS team why not implement the feature. 'BY DESIGN', where is the DESIGN? Just only a function. LOL
- Go to the Files app on the left nav pane > Downloads.
- IfandbutCopper ContributorThat seems to only show completed downloads. I cant see what files I am downloading, their speed, or what % complete it is. I can see the files change size in windows explorer.
- Rylan_WeiCopper ContributorI couldn’t agree more. Haha, at now, I have the same way as u to check it is complete or not, but download a video or big sheet, it isn’t a nice way obviously cause of you don’t always have an accurate estimate for per file size of ur channel.
